Why must sermons on the Trinity seem to always start with making fun of others misunderstandings? It's cheap laughs. I'll keep listening but it doesn't elevate the speaker .

@@jeanarmstrong4182 I don’t disagree with you, however, I do agree with Reeves’ point in that we as mere mortals trying to explain the attributes of God can seem quite inadequate. Perhaps he could have not ridiculed others’ misunderstandings and instead mentioned how we fail to describe what theologians often cite as one of the most difficult doctrines to teach. Nabeel Qureshi commented in one of his talks on the triunity of God that trying to start with the analogy and not leading with the definition leaves the analogy for wanting. He defined in that video the trinity as such “God is one in being and three in persons”. This begs the question, what’s the difference between a “being” and a “person”. Being is WHAT you are, person is WHO you are. I am glad that Reeves didn’t point out any particular names, as I have heard other preachers do when speaking this way. Speaking of elevating - hopefully listeners will see that the Word of God is elevated, and not man. This sermon, in my humble opinion, definitely glorified God. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the content. In Christ.

The doctrine of the trinity is a doctrine of demons. It is idolatry. Please study the history of Christianity and prayerfully read your Bible and study what the first century Christians believed. What did Jesus actually believe? Matthew 12:28-34 - He believed as the Jews- He believes in one true God and He tells us this is the Father. Jesus did not tell the scribe that He was wrong, and that god is 'triune', instead He agreed with him!

    • @paws271
      @paws271 ปีที่แล้ว

@@jacobisrael2688 unsure of your reasoning behind the context you chose to use because the question in that text was about by whom/what authority Jesus cast out demons. Then it goes on to explain how you're either for Him or against Him. It's unfortunate how many times we have adopted terms and phrases for concepts and events described throughout Scripture and even History. Having said that, however, I believe it's important to take care we do not offend to the point of blasphemy either the Word of God or people who are influenced by our words and actions... I do caution you because to call the Trinity a 'doctrine of demons' smacks right up against such blasphemy! I do not now, nor will I ever agree that the Trinity or tri-unity of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit is doctrinally demonic. I do believe that you have been manipulated by or lied to by someone whom you hold dear or in great regard. Being led astray often happens in such a way, and it's sad to see when such a basic premise of the Christian Worldview has been chewed up and spewed out as heresy. Very sad, indeed. I do pray for your understanding to become unbound and unmanipulated so you are able to see The Truth regarding The Trinity and then fully experience the joy of being set free by the Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

A nice British accent, some British wit, a reference to the great Martin Luther, or anything else forged by human wisdom cannot validate the false doctrine of the Trinity. While God the Father is apart from The Son and separate from the Holy Spirit, the doctrine remains seriously flawed, for the simple reason that it is NOT AT ALL expressed explicitly in God's word, the Bible. Those who believe in God should be true philologists, and trues philologists abide by Deuteronomy 4:2 as well as Revelation 22:18-19. In any case, why should we followers of Christ impose on God a word which he does not utilize? And why are we so adamant to promote a concept of God that God Himself does not endorse? "I and the Father are one." "Our fellowship is with the Father and the Son." "The Father is greater than I." "The Son is the image of the invisible God, the Firstborn over all creation."

God is one, and His name is Jesus. This is the great truth of the Bible, indeed, the greatest truth of all.
Not the trinity. It is a false doctrine formulated from Greek philosophy and not the Hebrew Scriptures. All the “church fathers” post-1st century were Greek philosophers and did not know Hebrew at all. In fact, for over a thousand years in the Catholic Church, learning Hebrew was considered mystical and could get you killed. Why? Because then you could read and understand the Old Testament, and possibly arrive at a different conclusion than what the church was teaching, and that of course was a big no no.
Jesus Christ is the one you must look upon. He alone is to be worshiped, because he alone is God.

We read this in, Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour. The one that is speaking in Isaiah is Jesus Christ. I say that because first off, Jesus Christ is our Savior, secondly in the book of Hebrews we read this, Hebrews 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. Heb 1:7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. Heb 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. We can conclude from this that the Father made Jesus Christ to be our God from the beginning and if we don't understand that then we don't have the revelation of who our God is. All Creation is ascribed to the Son of God. John says this in, John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. All things were made by Jesus Christ and for Him. Jesus Christ is the Heir of all things, He is the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament. Jesus is the only God anyone will ever see. No one comes to the Father but by the Son and no man knows the Father except the Son reveals Him because Christ is the revelation of the Father. Which He revealed in John 1:14. Jesus says to Phillip in the 14th chapter of John “If you have seen me you have seen the Father.” The Father’s God-ship and His Glory is in His Son as the combination of two natures both Natural and Spiritual, not three persons. If we take the father out of Christ the Jesus is no longer Christ and the doctrine becomes antichrist. God is one God in Christ, if I worship Christ I am worshiping the Father also. John says this in, 1Jn 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

He has been present in the creation of all the worlds and was and is the glory of the Father’s throne in this (and all) celestial kingdom(s). The Son of God is and always was divine. God is love, yes, and neither is he bound by time. He can love someone who would be there in the future as intensely as if he was standing right next to him. So that's a philosophical argument Trinitarians make that is not founded in Scripture. There are lots of verses that talk about God's foreknowledge in terms of it already having happened.

He described it as a logical inference of Jesus Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, being eternally the Son of God. If the Son was eternally with the Father (e.g. John 1:1-3, Jesus' prayer in John 17, Heb 1 & 2, Prov 8, etc.), then consequently, the Father was eternally His Father, eternally begetting (Nicean Creed language) the Son.

I think he would agree we are like God when we forgive and show grace, just as He does to us in the Gospel (Jesus says as much in the Sermon on the Mount, which you are probably referencing). But that act, showing grace and forgiveness, is an outpouring of the character of a gracious God towards the undeserving sinner, it is something He chose to do (joyfully and wholeheartedly) in creation and redemption; while the act of loving the Son is foundational to the identity of God the Father. Loving the Son is who the Father is; forgiving with abounding grace through Christ is what this loving Father does.

The Lord gave Peter the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. The Lord said, the kingdom of heaven does not come with observation but it is within you. The Holy Ghost is the kingdom of God. Peter says this in, Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Act 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

Jesus is God's only begotten Son, not the "eternal Son." When God spoke from heaven, he was announcing his pleasure in Jesus of Nazareth, his only begotten Son, and put his own Spirit upon him. The dove was a visible symbol of this, not person #3.

The biggest mistake that the 'church' made was to be 'dazzled' by the 'wisdom' & cleverness' of the 'church fathers' who mostly were educated & wealthy PHILOSOPHERS! Paul had warned the brothers Not to heed the 'philosophies of men' ( Col 2:8) Remember too that the apostles who gave us the NT were "Unlettered and ordinary men" They preached that there is just "One God & Father of all persons who is overall" (Eph 4:6) and that Jesus Christ was NOT 'God the son' ( no bible verse says this!) but the Son of God as John summed up in his gospel ( read John 20:31) Amen

There are no Bible verses that outright say that “there is one God who is three persons”. But the testimony of scripture in John 1, 17, Philippians 2, Matthew 28, Revelation 1, and other passages leads us to the Trinity. When we say God is three persons, we are saying that God has three centers of consciousness, not three separate beings. Being and person are separate. Rocks and sand have being, but not person. Person is characterized by consciousness, emotions, etc., all of which are shown in the three persons of the Trinity

Although it has to be said that there is much mystery in the Person of God, it is quite plain that what has been revealed to us is a ‘Trinity’ in one God. Christians are baptised in the NAME of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit Matt.28:19. The doctrine of the ‘Trinity’ - and it is a theological doctrine (and we would not necessarily expect to find the term in our Bibles), the truth of it has been attested down the ages and held by all reliable theologians and the Reformers. So why you would want to contest it is beyond me, unless you are one of those ‘nut jobs’ that bothers churches and congregations from time to time?

Because it can't be explained, and for some reason, man hasn't figured that out yet. Still thinks he's able to understand God. That's dangerous ground to stand on. Matthew 3:17
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
    John 10:36
“Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?”
    John 17:3
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
Jesus is God’s son and not God himself. Philippians 2 tells us that he is “in nature God”, but partaking of the divine nature does not make him the same individual as God. They are separate identities. The Father is the only true God as Jesus said and Jesus is his begotten son who is divine in nature and existed with him before the world began just as John 1:1 says. The spirit is God’s spirit. It really is that simple.
The trinity only obfuscates the truth and confuses people. Let us truly believe in sola scripture and cast aside creeds and dogmas. Scripture is sufficient to explain God. We don’t need unbiblical words like “Trinity” to explain God. God never called himself triune so we should not.

Verse 4 uses the greek ; ὁρισθέντος horisthentos. which means to 'designate' to 'assign' to 'declare'. It suggests an authority BESTOWING a priviledge or honour on another ( Like Pete's words at Pentecost that Christ RECEIVED the Holy Spirit from God" Acts 2:33 and Jesus own admission that "All authority has been GIVEN me" Matt 28:18). Thus Rom 1:1-4 in NO WAY proves the 'trinity' in fact quite the OPPOSITE!. Just read Paul's further intros to his epistles; "Blessed be the God and Father OF our Lord Jesus Christ". Eph 1:3. 2 Cor 1:3. Col 1:3. ( Also 1 Pet 1:3) Even Revelation 1:6 "His God and Father". Jesus Father is his GOD! There is NO 'trinity' its FALSE!

  • @pmac_

Man’s Trinitarian definition of God is a third century, low resolution, overlay on scripture.
God’s definition of God is; “I am (a single person) the God OF Abraham, the God OF Isaac, the God OF Jacob”, the God OF all Israel. Jesus was OF Israel, son OF David, OF the tribe of Judah. Thus the God of Israel, the Most High God, is the God of Jesus. Who is the God of our Lord Jesus Christ? The Father of Glory (Ephesians 1:17). Not because he is God_the Father, where “the_Father” identifies what person of “God_the Triune” you are talking about, but because:
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord”. From this day onwards the “God of Israel” is referred to as “The God (and Father) of our Lord Jesus Christ”, (2 Corinthians 11:31, Ephesians 1:3, 1 Peter 1:3), because he is now a Father, who has a Son.

What a load of deceptive waffle. He twists Paul's message to try and extract 'three'- and then claims God is 'triune'. Why does he not try and make the gospel fit the actual definition of the trinity as commonly cited in the creeds? Because he cannot- and it becomes a 'philosophical headache', to use his own words. The 'triune god' is a nonsense. He has made an idol of something which does not exist and which has been fabricated by heathen concepts creeping into the true gospel. Jesus has a God- His Father. Jesus said His Father is greater than Him. Jesus is not omniscient. If He is fully God, as in equal to the Father, then He must be omniscient. Jesus said He is not God: John 7:16. We have one God the Father 1Cor 8:6. Eternal life is to believe in the one true God the Father and Jesus Christ John 17:3 Yes, we can call Jesus 'God', but He is subordinate to the Father. His sole purpose is to glorify His Father. Please wake up, people, and stop adding to the Bible. See if you can answer this simple question- it's easy for anyone who is a true believer and sees the doctrine of the trinity for the false doctrine that it is.: Who is the Most High God?

The Bible makes it clear through progressive revelation over 1500 years of authorship this one eternal being is of one essence but contains three distinct independent beings not just modes. Each has a role and work to do. There is no jealousy, competition or difference in divinity.
These ideas and more have been encapsulated in a book inspired by the Spirit Himself - the Bible.
Christians (Tertullian was the first) have adopted one word to bring all this and more to mind - Trinity
