Incidentally, George, I suspect that many (if not MOST) of your viewers will not understand the way you pronounce "IEMs". I suggest you pronounce it the conventional way (that is, "eye-eee-emm") or else, just say "EARPHONES", because, after all, the term "in-ear monitors" applies to those earphones that are used to monitor music on stage, whereas "earphones" applies to any earphone.
Been enjoying my e70 velvet for a year and just tried my old dx80. I haven’t looked into portables in a while as i don’t often listen on the go anymore.. but. Just found out about all the dongles as well but don’t know if I really want to juggle all the devices. I get the modularity tho. Now I’m thinking dx180 or shanling m1s with dc07 pro. I also don’t want something better than my e70 velvet. 😅
Hello, great review! Do you know if the equalizer works with third party apps (especifically with qobuz)? i'm really considering to buy the dx180, but a fully functional equalizer that works with 3rd party apps is really important for me. Best regards!
Hi great review ! This DAP looks amazing!! But I have a doubt about the bit-perfect Audio. Do you know if the dx180 can play lossless and hi-Res music from the Apple music? Regards
What would you say for priority - Spotify downloaded offline / stream, parametric equalizer, Planar and dynamic but not tons of power needed, ldac Less- battery, high res, high watt
I don't quite understand the question, but I would get something that has enough battery, then the most power possible to keep control high and distortion low
Hey George, nice review. I received finaly 2 weeks ago my first ever DAP, the DX180 🙂 , i am so happy and just love this player 🙂 . Aready installed new firmware, reseted to factory and reinstalled everything from zero, as Paul from iBasso adviced me, i uninstalled that ''chinese app'' wich i don't know what that does, seemed suspicious to me so i deleted. The player works fine so far, i got also some FiiO FF5 headphones and the new FT1 headphones (love so much these headphones), to listen at my player. I want to thank you for good advices George, for beeing kind and having so much patience with me to teach me, help me and explain to me all these things 🙂 .
Currently, iBasso is dominating the market across most price points, big power, low noise, strong dynamics, they just know how to mnake some great DAPs!
Yes, it is a pretty large upgrade from R4 sonically. To upgrade from DX180, you need either DX260, DX320 or D16, basically, all upgrade paths cost almost double, while for R4, most DAPs in the 500 USD range will be a considerable upgrade, so DX180 will stably be a good DAP for a long while
Your hair is wild. I like it. Makes the review fun. Good work buddy!
Thank you!
Make sure Ted "Superchonk" Koh doesn't see your comment. ;)
Multumesc, George!

@@ReverendDr.Thomas Thank you for the advice! I will try in newly filmed videos to use the word earphone :)

DX180 will be much better, DC07 PRO might be better, but close enough tho.
@ both options are better than my e70 velvet?? Oh no then I’ll need to upgrade my home listening setup after also haha
DX180 for me has the tag of one of the best music players under $500. Good video George.
Thank you so much for your kind words, and happy to help!

As far as i know, EQ only works within iBasso Mango app...
I bought it in last month too. Loving it every bit. I use long listening sessions and mostiy charges twice a day 😅
Woah, happy to hear you're getting so much fun out of it!!
@@AudiophileHeavenThanks and for the nice review as well 🤩

Hiii, I do not have Apple Music but from what I read and technically it should play it just fine!

Really happy to have been of thelp, and really glad to hear you're having so much fun!!
How does it compare to the DX300? Debating between the two since they are around the same price used.
Dx300 is a bit superior technically, a bit more neutral, and a bit faster in sound. I would go for DX300 if you found a good deal for it.
Can it be used as a streamer with external dac?
Hii, yes, but it only has coaxial output or USB, but the USB is not guaranteed with every USB DAC out there, coaxial works fine with everything
Great review! Ibasso seem like the way to go. I think better than AK at same price points..

Would you say this is well worth than R4? price difference is near double
