They haven’t been watching Davies at all. From his form, how he became a LB to is technical ability. This 24/25 campaign, he has been very good. Kompany’s system and also being healthy I would say, has brought back what we expect from Alphonso. With all the football he has played, he is still just 24. The way they are speaking, you wouldn’t have guessed the two biggest clubs in the world want to sign him.

Right now he is easily in the best form he’s ever been in.

Davies is having a resurgent year on the field under Kompany and these guys keep peddling the negative talking points from two years ago. All punditry is not created equal.

      Followed by Jonathan David!

And Canada is still a mediocre team and nothing really changed. You can have your Davies and David as two best players in the region, but Canada has no overall depth in the pool who can match up with USMNT or Mexico or Costa Rica. Not to mention Canadian soccer still reeling with financial difficulties.

@@dmmartinez9 your comment belongs in 2022 because no one who watched the CMNT's 2024 would say that. We played our bench against Uruguay and missed the 3rd place by seconds (although it's still considered a draw since it went to penalties). I can quickly list off some typical bench players like Choiniere, Sigur, Ahmed, St Clair or Crepeau, Bair, Laryea, even Shaffelburg don't give a "lack of depth" perception at all.
It's the US that should be worried about depth; we wiped the grass with you in September when you were missing some of your starters (only scored a goal that was a mile offside), yet the fanbase and your media brushed it off as a friendly and your B team; in other words, your B team is expected to lose because you have no depth.
Anyways, we finished 4th in Copa, and you didn't even make it out of the group stage. So let's hold off on the "mediocre" talk until after the nations league (which once again you get home advantage for) because with all your federation's money, you're the ones that took a giant step back last year.

Hercules is soooo sooo stupid. My god.
    1) Phonzie has played LB and is right now for the NT
    2) He is "comfortable" with his feet. Whatever that means lol, just such bad punditry.
    3) He's a Top 3 LB in the world. Any Bayern fan will tell you that even in their love-hate relationship
This is generatinal American Ignorance. Phonzie has been immense this season.

Jessie puts a lot of weight on the kind of human being a player is. If Jessie sees that Alphonso Davies is developing his character as a man and integrating his refinement as a leader and an effective tournament player he might be onto something.
In my opinion people put too much top priority on technical performance. You never know when a player will turn a corner and get on a career roll, so it is all speculation all around until time tells.

Sorry, no this is U.S. BS!!!
I just listened to an ex-U.S. player on another podcast say that Jonathan David can't score important goals. LoL!
The bias & jealousy is unbelievable!
I will believe coach Vincent Kompany of Bayern Muenchen, as he always raves about how Alphonso has been terrific this season & I will believe coach Marsh too before listening to Herc & these U.S. biased podcasters.
I will say that the big difference between now & 2022, is that Alphonso is playing a much more defensive game & he stays at home in his Left back position & he is not taking offensive risks like he used to. That is why his coaches love him & the podcasters miss the exciting flashy plays.
That & the play of super fast Bombito, at Centre back, are the main reasons why Canada now has the best defence in CONCACAF too.

Man U is no where near Bayern at any level … it’s a step down. Real Madrid is obviously the power house of the world and unsay no. But Man U?? Get out of here with the engkish hyping

You cannot say one of the best LB's in the world plays for Fulham. That doesn't work. Antonee is very good and America's best player, but he also doesn't play in europe night in and out like the other two.

You guys have no idea what you're talking about. I've watched every second of Davies' play with Bayern. He has become a complete player in every aspect of the game. You guys have an underlying bias against not just Canadian players but anyone who is not from the US. Even Herc's comment about Jesse's salary being paid by the three Canadian clubs is to somehow make Canada look a little Janky. Results on the pitch re the USA would prove otherwise. If either of you had actually watched Davies play this year you would see a more defensively responsible and offensively measured level of play. His play under Tuchel was much below standard and even with our National Team he was forcing the ball and trying too hard. Under both Kompany and Marsch his game has matured. If you watched Davies play you would know he was brought to Bayern as a left back and as a teen with the Whitecaps they played him there when Bayern was recruiting him. The way Kompany plays him every minute speaks to his value. The top two Clubs in the world are recruiting him, that speaks to his talent. Watch him play regularly and then you can make evidence based comments not just make stuff up. Lastly please support and recognize the work that JM has done with the Canadian Natioal Team. He has been wonderful.
As I write this it appears Bayern are signing Davies to a five year deal. Which potentially will place him at the end of that contract as a Bayern legend, probably with close to 300 games played. Please try to convince me that Davies is not one of the best LBs in the world when one of the top 4 Clubs in the world shows him that type of commitment.
