I’m commenting 3 yrs later, but here I go. It’s so very helpful to see videos like this of a real-life, honest-to-goodness, working kitchen, laundry room, pantry, etc. It truly helps those of us trying to get to a similar point in life. (ie: Can I have an open air space above the stove? How do I hang knives on the wall…do they stay put? Wait! You can have a homestead farm kitchen without a true window! Whaaat!?) Can I mix my metals? Etc etc etc
Hi..my name is Marcia. I am a 74 yr old grandma trying to make my new condo look like me...old and wrinkled!!! Wish I new your name. I found out abt your channel from Lumnah acres! Love their channel and I now know I have found a new favorite! Your kitchen is amazing. I love you cheerful helpful attitude and will be watching you lots! Love your home..it is amazing. I lost my husband yrs ago...we were so hopeful if having a home like yours but our God had other plans...so here I am...starting over with my new condo and enjoying trying to make it look old ! I would love to see cooking videos. You have made my day with your beautiful smile and lovely kiddies. I'll be watching from northern Illinois ! Love ya oxox
Who cares what’s trendy. Do what works for you ❤️ I had open shelving in my kitchen. We had lower cabinets and instead of any uppers we had open shelves. After 3 years I HATED IT! seriously anything you put on those shelves gets NASTY. If you cook with any fats the oils get in the air and coat everything. I had a lot of dishes that were more season but I had to have for serving and such and it was such a pain to keep clean. I also had butcher block- it was lovely but VERY high maintenance. I had all this before it became trendy and now when I see it trending I just shake my head. My experience with many of the current trends have told me to go with what lasts, what I like and forget what is trendy!❤️
That Daly Life Yeah, same here! Open shelves in the kitchen are truly not a good idea. I always ‚warn‘ people about it, when I see them planning something like that, but do they listen? No, of course not. 😣 Wish, someone had warned me...remodeling is such a hazzle, especially, if you don’t own the place.
I know this is overstating, but you “saved my life” with your knife holder placement! I had no room under cabinets for my magnetic strip in my new house. SO SAD! Then I found your tour and the lightbulb turned on! A friend cut my long strip in half with a jigsaw (yes, it cuts through magnets! Who knew?) I woke up three times that night, walked to the kitchen to look again and smile. This is MY kitchen! Looking forward to seeing more from you.
You don't strike me as a woman who worries too much about what "they" say the current trend or style is. It's 'your' home, and it looks lovely, warm, clean and family friendly. (:
I think the only reason people ever had open cabinets was that they couldn't afford the doors. I tried just one open cabinet, and besides the grease and dust, if you have pets you will have fur in your cabinets and on your dishes. If you have cats, they will likely think it is an invitation to see if they can squeeze in there with your dishes. I cringe every time I see some show doing a remodel and putting in open cabinets in a kitchen. The only reason it works in a restaurant is that they are constantly going through their dishes, and cleaning everything. I like your remodel and sensible doors. The hickory is lovely and fits the period and place.
This is my first time visiting your channel I love your video and I must say it’s so refreshing to see a home that is not all pure white and curated with the latest trends. I have an older home that is full of beautiful wood and I really enjoy warm and cozy color palettes. It is so refreshing to see a kitchen being used for its intended purpose and not just to take pictures your home seems like a very inviting cozy and warm home full of love
I love your cabinets . My deceased husband was a contractor and he built my parents house and all the cabinets and a hutch and entertainment center and bookcases are all out of solid hickory also . there was enough wood left to make me a hutch and bookcase that I love very much. it's very beautiful and solid and timeless .. thank you for for showing your kitchen . I like it very much.
Your home and kitchen are beautiful. I love watching you homestead and watching your children do their chores and help u is so heartwarming. I do what I can growing vegetables but I'm disabled and can't do as much as I'd like. I have. Been fortunate that my husband's job is ran by a wonderful family. They gave their employees some type of veg. Fruit or meat every week, even though the job has nothing to do with food. I started watching you because the food was pileling up. It's brought me so much enjoyment since I lost my job due to disability. I'm doing sauerkraut this week watched you video. Thank you you helped me feel a purpose in life again.
Love your kitchen cabinets and counter tops. I'm not about white cabinets, show to much dirty finger prints. Also open cabinets you'll have to dust. Just one more thing to do. My husband took an old metal railing and hug it long ways, (looks like a ladder) and put hooks on it, to hang our cast iron pans. I love it and get lots of compliments.
This has nothing to do with this video, but awhile back I read about how you make your own tallow.I use a lot of lard in our cooking and never even realised it wasn't pure lard. So, you made me want to make my own, but I kept putting off the idea of driving 30 minutes to the closest meat market, thinking is it really worth the price of gas. Today, while at the grocery store, on a whim I asked the man at the meat counter if he sells leaf fat. He doesn't have any, but tomorrow he is cutting up ribeyes and will have about 5 pound of fat to trim off. He said that he could sell it to me tomorrow for 25 CENTS! All of it! Thank you. He made my day and you have made my day.
I just found your channel and this posting. Thanks for the tour of your homey kitchen that looks out on your living room. You can cook and keep an eye on the kids as they play at the big table. Thanks for the behind the scene look at your 'new' kitchen and the remodel. Your home looks comfortable and inviting. There is much love in your home. You folks will be happy in this home for many years.
Love this type of video. Shows us the “not always perfect” side of homesteading. I love your “function over fashion” idea. But also love how it all ties together and looks beautiful. Beautiful space! Loved this video!
Who cares if it "is not trendy". Who wants to be "trendy"? I don't. I rather be unique like you are and your kitchen is very beautiful!! You guys have done a great job. This is my 1st time watching this.vlog. Keep being you and do not change!!🤗😊❤💝
I love those hickory cabinets. I too have the upper cabinets and plan on keeping them. Like everyone else, I like the look of open shelving, but they are sooooo impractical. Especially in the kitchen. The shelves and everything on them collect so much dust and build up from steam, smoke and grease. Cabinets do too, but all you have to do is wipe the doors and the sides of the cabinets. Everything inside is protected. lol I have to balance between what I like and what makes life easier. For me, the storage and ease of maintenance that the closed cabinets offer is a practicality I cannot ignore in my busy life. If I want to display something, I have a some upper cabinets with glass doors. You can see what is in it, but I don't have to keep it dusted. I also cannot imagine not having upper cabinets, like what I see in magazines. The storage of cabinets means more to me than whatever decoration I might like to hang on the wall. (which also will require more dusting. Especially if you heat with a wood stove).
My new home was built in 1891 (except for the additions which are also all older than me - I started counting this year from 25 years old PLUS experience🤣 and my kids are a little older than yours. We need to renovate. The house is made of 18” thick limestone. That will always be original - well, until it won’t stand anymore. But we have had soooo much to do. Overwhelm has been the going rate. We are 6 mos behind in all of our projects because 10 days before we got here my husband was surprisingly diagnosed with cancer (he’s never sick). 3 days later surgery, 6 days later travel out of state and VRBO, 1 day later move in. Thanks for all the fabulous ideas for our renovations! We want to keep some of the items as original looking as possible and other elements will be more industrial and/or modern looking. We are fully integrated with WI-FI now!
I'm watching and commenting five years later and.... the open cabinet trend is so GONE! You were right to do what works best for you. I re-did my kitchen in 2020 and chose to skip the open shelving, however we went with some rustic cedar open shelving in the laundry room. I'm still good with it, but it's Hard to keep it looking straightened up when you have a big family. I also LOVE the hickory you chose. Very chic and at the same time westerny. I also chose shiplap for the backsplash, and to this date absolutely love it. I think it will never go out of style. Great home you have, you should be very proud of all you've accomplished. From Atlanta, GA! All the best.
Love everything you and Christian have done with your home. It's livable. I don't strive to stay trendy, modern or up to date because I don't like changing out my entire life every time someone comes up with something new. When we build our house back in the late '80s I left out the wall between our kitchen and living room because everywhere we'd ever lived if I was cooking someone always called me in to see something on tv and something would burn. So we've had open concept from the beginning and it's gotten more open as our kids have made homes of their own and we've taken down more walls. I love videos just like this or even when you're teaching in your kitchen because as I'm listening I'm also looking over your shoulder to see how you display what you use. I have begun to make a few changes in my kitchen and it's helping free up room in my cabinets as I bring the active components out into the open. Thanks for the inspiration!
Love it, Jill! We just moved to a mountain homestead and our kitchen is part of an open kitchen/dining/living space too. I love how practical your kitchen set up is.
The great thing about your videos is, they're timeless. What I needed to know 2 years ago was how to can and make yogurt. Now, I am at a kitchen remodel, so your thought processes and decision integers are very pertinent to me, even though two years old. The best part, honestly, was Christian's involvement in the project and his thoughtfulness toward practical usage. Thank you!
Getting ready to renovate a 1930's lake place kitchen. You have inspired me. I too do NOT want a "trendy" look but want to, instead, maintain the cabin style. You are SO genuine. I could listen to you all day! thanks.
Love your remodel. We had a house that was built in the 1880's. It had square nails, 16-inch wide wood planks for walls and horsehair plaster! I feel your pain! LOL! It is really a labor of love to remodel an old place and make it yours. I love your hickory cabinets! Don't worry about what is trendy at the moment, you have to make your space work for your and make it something you want to look at day after day.
Tina here, 2 years after you posted this one. I agree, trendy is just...well. I love the hickory, and open shelves would certainly not be a good idea in a place that is very much lived in! And now you have me considering quartz countertops when we manage to do our kitchen...in a few years? We have the capability to build our own cabinets, and access to Windsor Plywood's selection of any wood from around the world, which of course makes it hard to choose. So many beautiful exotics that can spice up things like hickory or birch with little accents. We like the idea of butcher block but really already ruled it out. Maybe for my big cutting board, since I tend to do all our cutting and wrapping of deer, pork, etc on the kitchen table...which we will be selling once we get the time to put together our own iteration out of old fir beams we got from someone who salvaged buildings on their old farm.
Hi Jill, I enjoyed seeing your kitchen. I love your more rustic style kitchen...it’s very warm and inviting! I enjoy all styles of videos that give a well rounded picture of homesteading lifestyle. It’s great to learn new things whether recipes or garden and livestock. But also just to see your surroundings and how you acquire items for your life and use them to make things work better or easier in your day to day lives! Thanks for sharing! Jillian
I love your thought process, I am also one that stews about trends and tries to steer clear of them as they quickly look dated. My husband thinks I over think these things too much but you want to like them for a long time and it does save money in the long run, same goes for a classic wardrobe. Thanks for the tour! I like the real life behind the scenes videos plus the tutorials, whatever you do is great and learn a lot from you.
I have nothing but respect for your practical choices. Personally, I wanted stainless steel counter tops like in an industrial kitchen, because that stuff is indestructible and super hygienic, but I couldn't find it, because apparenly I am in a minority and not only does no one around here supply stainless steel counter tops, but they looked at me funny when I asked. Don't even get me started on open shelving. Some trends are just stupid.
Love it!! We are just finishing a new build and I am currently finishing my kitchen. Enjoyed your comment and feedback. We are also going with Quartz counters. I have been struggling with the backsplash. so will look into the shiplap idea.
There are paint kits that can "rough up" or create a rustic wood look on those white doors-at least until you find the ones you really want! Love the rustic vibe in your house!
I also enjoy the mix. It’s so interesting to listen to kitchen ideas from different eras regardless if it’s up one’s alley or not. And I’m with you. Leave trendy out of the equation. We recently removed an ugly backsplash in our newly purchased home. It practically destroyed the drywall in the process. Did we go backsplash again? Not on your life. It’s plain painted drywall finish and I’ve hung stained glass fruit ornaments on the walls to match my stained glass fruit ceiling lamp. Trendy? Nope; and I don’t care. I love the colour and craft. We had new natural oak cabinets made all with doors and one with glass. I’m not a fan of floating shelves. To me, they are a cluttered look and personally too distracting. And, things get dusty enough inside let alone out. I do, however think the odd floating shelf does break things up and looks homey. It works really well in your kitchen with the cast iron pots. Incidentally, what a find and for just the right person!! Having said all that, I did have floating shelves built into a closet pantry next to the kitchen. But it can be closed off to hide that cluttered look and makes everything nicely accessible. We removed a previous oak kitchen that had been painted white by the owner. It was starting to peel when we moved in. Fact; you cannot paint over stain! At least not successfully.
Mix of both, love to learn what other remodeling jobs evolved from, and ideas for food, gardening, health, homesteading. Although I'm not a homesteaders, I love those who do....love that animals....the babies....
We just did a major home remodel, which also included completely gutting the kitchen. We went with Quartz counter-tops (and ruled all other materials out) for the same reasons you have mentioned here. We also decided against open-shelving. We had open-shelving previously and I hated it. It's simply too much to wipe down and clean constantly - it's much, much easier to wipe down a cabinet door. Your home turned out fantastic.
Have you ever tried or considered a slate counter top? I had one in both my kitchen and downstairs bath for over 30 years and loved them. Hot cast iron pots? No problem. They are essentially worry free and just about the least expensive natural stone product out there. We trimmed edges with wood which looked so pretty. Non-porous too! I'm having one put into my new kitchen.
I bought this coffee mug rack from the Magnolia Journal Website and used it in my antique booth to show cups for sale. The antique Mall closed and I had no idea what to do with it. Now I can try this great idea in my kitchen.
LOVED the tour of your home!!!! Thank you for sharing!!! YES!!! Love the idea of the mixture of both - whatever you want to do we’ll be THRILLED with it!! So blessed that you share so much!!! I’ve wanted to start a sourdough starter but after reading several blogs about it it was just so complicated but you just gave us this, “Hey guys - just do it! It’s so easy.” confidence that I did!! And .... you’re right!!! It’s so easy!!!! Bless your heart. If it wasn’t for you I’d still just be wishing! Love you and your family!!!! Thank you!!!
I'm not crazy about hickory cabinets but I think your shiplap backsplash is right on. My late grandmother from Kansas had the same and seeing yours brings back fond memories. Thanks!
Love your kitchen and all the info on the house! I’m planning on redoing my kitchen counters at one point and I couldn’t figure out what kind I wanted so the quartz is an amazing idea that I’ll be looking more deeply into for sure!!!
As long as you like the shiplap, it does not matter if it goes out dated. There is nothing you can put up, that will not become dated at some time (except for what you had in the beginning. The generic contractor style). Growing up and through most of my adult life, I lived with wood paneling. It is so practical and kid proof, but I got sooooo tired of the darkness. So painted shiplap and even painted paneling can brighten it up, without going to the expense of changing it. I remember when wallpaper was all the rage. I never really cared for it and it is nightmare to strip off. Then there was the popcorn ceilings that were so cool in its time. But, I don't know, what isn't going to go out of style. I say get what you like and love it until it comes back in style again. lol I see paneling starting to resurrect itself. Especially the true and authentic wood paneling. I love the shiplap and I would never tire of it. I like things that I can paint. So easy to change the look, if you want to do so.
Loved this "impromptu" style video and tour! I like your sit down educational style too, but mixing it up is fun. Also, very cool info on the quartz counter! I tend to lean butcher block or concrete too, and didn't know about the upkeep with concrete. Definitely going to look into quartz for the durability and ease...because kids!
Whats best for you is okay. You do not have to justify to anybody. I must admit I agree with your thought process as it pertains to your decorating choices. So I would have made basically the same choices. Love the open concept.
Haven’t read all the other comments, but we also have doors like yours (basic generic Home Depo doors)...ours are painted to match the color scheme of the rest of the room. So pick a color you like, that adds to the rustic charm and it will get you through until you can find replacements!
Its got a great look now and if the other guy had taken out all the original character anyway, what the hay! I have an old house but its neat that you do YOUR farmhouse style NOT what “they” say is authentic. So you basically built a whole new house! CONGRATS AND GOD BLESS IT ALL. BEAUTIFUL.
I love both types of video! You are so generous to give us a peek into your real life and also teach us wonderful tips and tricks for homemaking. You have a winning format! Your home is warm and loving and you have real useful knowledge to impart.
I prefer when people make their homes their own. It gets boring when every kitchen you see has the same white cabinets, open shelves etc. I love your kitchen because it tells your story.
I love this type of video. I’ve drooled over your bit of open shelving a lot and your knife blocks and now I know how I can add them to my own kitchen! Thanks for sharing.
We are just remodelling our kitchen and building on to it also adding a store room pantry extending the boot room. Total chaos can’t wait for it all to be finished
I LOVE YOUR KITCHEN!!!!!! I have a home built in 1906 that has obviously been remodeled at some point in the 70’s, as evidenced by the horrendous wood paneling on every. Single. Surface. It’s so awful. But I don’t think this is going to be our forever home so I can live with it temporarily. However, I spend a lot of time in my kitchen (can you imagine??) and the remodeling that happened in there is like the most slap-dash thing I have ever seen. Someday I hope to have a beautiful kitchen like yours!
Great content. Your behind the scenes farmhouse review is just what I needed as we are selling our Texas farm and moving to a new and more remote homestead in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for sharing your landing on quartz counter tops for all the right reasons. We were looking into cement tops but hadn't had many practical reviews to go on. As for the doors you don't like.... I needed a 75" tall door that was 36" wide and could NOT find one anywhere. I ended up making it from three layers of 7 ply plywood. You can design any look you want and we chose a six panel design like the doors you have but any design is just as easy to do. This door is far better made than anything I could buy and it cost me less than $100 including the frame. Thanks again for the tour.
I loved the whole look and feel of the countertops most of all. Even though you agonized over the decision, it is def. the best look for what you wanted. It gave me a great deal of info for when I have such a project.
Love the openness and how you've done the kitchen! With kitchen cupboards what's in them and the shelves don't get dusty soon. You're home looks wonderfully homey. 👌
Hello from New Hampshire! 1910 is a good house history. I have a Griswold waffle that it 1908. Jim & I would be your parent's age. We live on Jim's 4th generation 350 acre working family farm. My brother-in-law raises grass fed Herefords for breeding stock and we commercial hay & log. Jim and I built our homestead at the base of the farm in 2016. So we were able to take our LIST of how we needed our home to function and designed it. Trendy does not necessarily work on a homestead/farmstead.Maybe a nice touch for Home & Garden. Good job that you listened to your specific needs as applied to your lifestyle. We have a 1930 Home Comfort kitchen woods stove, as well as a 6 burner propane kitchen stove. I need to be able to slide that giant All American canner across a continuous gas stove grid. We built to be both on of off grid . So we burn wood with propane back-up. Our cabinets are Maple with classic stone tile backsplash. Our 1935 farm decor will NEVER go out of style ( for 1935! ) So yes, FUNCTIONAL & TIMELESS are the key. You did a beautiful job of getting the maximum use from your design. Love your pantry! A mix of walk through everyday living, plus sharing skills and ideas would be helpful.
I love the mix of both types of videos! We are looking to buy a friend's 12 acre farm and possibly some animals as well and this is all new to my family so I am absolutely loving your videos! I know nothing will prepare me like the real deal, but the homesteading community on youtube is really helping! Your kitchen is beautiful by the way!
Nice kitchen. If you felt you needed it, a solar tube would give you that natural light. Just be cautious to get the one with a smooth mirror like tube. The cheaper ones have a sort of “dryer hose” tube that won’t reflect the light as well. Anyway, we put 3 in around our house and it made a huge difference.
This is my second video with you. I love your kitchen. I think it is unique and would never see it in a trendy magazine, and that makes it even better! Thanks for sharing
Love your kitchen! I love the consept of you like to hang funtional tools on the wall. They arent just for looks and fake. Like your knife magnet, your open shelves, and your pot filler. I might try one when i remodel.
If you don’t like plastic and rubber utensils (and that’s just fine with me! Right up my alley!) what do you use to scape bowls and things clean? You know, get all the cake batter out of the bowl, use all the yogurt, etc.?
no diva, but having the right stuff that will last makes the difference, its called executive decision making! blessings always keep Rockin - Food is Free!
love the lights over the island. I'd like to see what you're doing for garden prep & gardening this year. will you grow & preserve enough for an entire year
I would love both kinds of videos!! You did so good on this one!!! (More real life!!) I learn a lot (steaming fresh farm eggs for one thank you again!!) from you videos. But I am also about to embark on a new adventure and move to our undeveloped property and build Dunne’s Acres!! (Excitement squeal) So learning what you have done to your house and what you use and how they stand up (I too am hard on things in my kitchen. I have gone threw 4 wooden cutting boards.... 😒🤦🏼♀️) So learning things like your counter tops is really helpful for me! And I too have picked out hickory for my flooring and cabinet bases which will be the grey style, but to save on some costs and the not to trendy I decided to go for the open shelves up top and curtain front on the bottom. (Then I can change it with the seasons or if i get tired of a color i can just buy fabric instead of paint....). But I’m sure the fabric will be white with eyelet lacing!!
Love your rustic kitchen. I don't care for the open shelving trend. Sounds like a very high maintenance project that never ends. Just the other day I was melting chocolate (for flourless chocolate torte) in the microwave when it slipped out of my hands. Both my kitchen and myself were covered in chocolate. That took me about an hour to clean my kitchen. I can't imagine how long it would have taken me with open shelving!?? Nice home tour, enjoy your videos.
I loved the tour of your fabulous kitchen. Thank you. I like the old look and never worry about what is trendy or what may go out. I know what I like, and I am the one who has to live with it. Others can do what they want to live with. Your home is very cozy and welcoming. I love it. This is the 2nd video I have happened on of yours, and you have a very nice way about you. I have subscribed and will go back and look for more. Thank you.
I like both! These are super helpful as we're looking for our farmhouse and I also am learning everything I can while I'm waiting. I've acquired many kitchen skills and gardening!
I love your kitchen! The cabinets are just like the ones we had when we lived in our log cabin. Wonderful days in that cabin. My dad designed and built it. I miss it so much!
Love your kitchen. I had these very same hickory cabinets in my rustic home. Now I have a new farmhouse style home with white cabinets.. i love the brightness but really miss the hickory cabinets. You made a good choice.
Found you today via Justin Rhodes mentioning you lol! sooooooo happy to see all the loveliness you are sharing... fun to hear the stories behind your kitchen renovation...just re-did my sourdough starter in the hope it will revive after a few weeks in the fridge...hoping for you success! I know I will LOVE supporting you in 2020 .. Happy New year to you and your family!
LOVE the behind the scenes and teaching. A mixture sounds good to me!! I watch your videos while I'm ironing...sure makes that dreaded job MUCH more pleasant! My eleven year old daughter LOVES to watch too! Keep up the good work!
I enjoyed watching your video very much. I like the choices you made in your kitchen and the reasoning behind it. It has helped me decide between going with what I like, what is useful and practical versus what may be trendy in my new kitchen. I also like your presentation style in your videos, very casual and personable. Your children are precious by the way.
I love your style.....it's your own and it's practical!! I'm very practical as well! But you did a great job of making it look warm and inviting! Thank you for being real and for sharing!
I loved this video! Thank you for everything you share. We just purchased a home in Utah and while it does not have the land I had initially hoped for (we fell in love with a wonderful small town, that is a prime location for the business we are building but was a little too expensive to buy a lot of land in) it has a great yard with a wonderful garden area that is already sort of established (needs some serious cleanup) and a chicken coop. I am very excited to do my very first vegetable garden this year and possibly add chickens to the mix. I hope homesteading is in my future but until then, I think this will be a great way to get a small taste. We are slowly morphing our house into our dream home and trying to move away from that builder-grade feel. I could never find anything that was "my style" with a more country / industrial vibe until I saw your kitchen. It is beautiful! I am slowly building my cast iron collection but you should do a cast iron video on how you maintain your cast irons and what your favorites are!!
Great video. Love the kitchen. Love your laundry room. My cabinets are hickory as well. My house is like a “ranch” house. I like the white cabinets people have today but I appreciate my cabinets. They are “timeless” and that’s nice as trendy things well- they keep changing.
Want more info on our crazy remodel? Here's a blog post with lots of details and pix! www.theprairiehomestead.com/2015/12/farmhouse-remodel.html
Can you give us a tour of your office...the shelving and how you came up with the desk idea and such? I would love that!❤
I’m commenting 3 yrs later, but here I go.
Her name is Jill Winger. :)
Who cares what’s trendy. Do what works for you ❤️
I had open shelving in my kitchen. That Daly Life
Yeah, same here! Open shelves in the kitchen are truly not a good idea. I always ‚warn‘ people about it, when I see them planning something like that, but do they listen? No, of course not. 😣
Wish, someone had warned me...remodeling is such a hazzle, especially, if you don’t own the place.
@@raraavis7782 "hazzle?" hahahahahahahaha
I've seen pot racks like that and I LOVE them! So creative!
Nice idea!
Thank you!
I definitely like the mix! This video was fun and I enjoyed it. The sink in your laundry room is so cool!
Thanks Kylie!
You didn't talk about your herb drying rack on the wall (at least I think you didn't). Did you make it? It looks so neat!
Someone else asked this same question above. Jill said it was actually a "mason jar" rack she got from decorsteals.com/. :)
Hi Jill,
I enjoyed seeing your kitchen.
I think your kitchen is beautiful the way it is.
Elizabeth L. Johnson said, This cheered me up during covid. Praise God! and I thank Him for y'all.
Love your channel. I am a Senior now and seeing what you do brings back wonderful memories of our family life with young children.❤️
The butcher block explination was very helpful.
Thanks for the feedback Sallie! :)
Jill, ur house is so warm and cozy, I think it has a-lot of character. Love how its opened to the family room.
I love how you used a a coffee mug rack to dry herbs and onions, etc. Great idea and use of an otherwise non usable wall space.
I bought this coffee mug rack from the Magnolia Journal Website and used it in my antique booth to show cups for sale. The antique Mall closed and I had no idea what to do with it. Now I can try this great idea in my kitchen.
I don't care about trends...I love y'alls kitchen!! It's my kind of kitchen...that sink is fantastic ❤👏❤
I like whatever. Your in thee mood your in ! What ever. I learn no matter what I get to see. Real down to the roots stuff ..
I definitely enjoy this type of video, Jill. Thanks so much for this and other videos, plus your website. Cheers, Ardith
I really like the center counter in the kitchen as they really add a comfortable production space when doing your kitchen chores.
Yeah, I really thought concrete would be more durable-- kind of a bummer!
Trends come and trends go. You do you. Love your kitchen! I love, love , love your sink.
I like a mix of both. Whatever you want to share, I know I will enjoy. I know that doesn't help, but it true.
Your kitchen is fabulous! Also love how candid you were about just not having time to be a fussy cleaner and forgetting laundry.
I have always loved your kitchen when it's in photos/videos! I love your real life/farm life videos :) Thank you, as always, for sharing with us!
It was a good thing you both renovated and built on to your house!!
The people we bought our house from antiqued all the white kitchen cabinets and they turned out fantastic. You could do that with those white doors.
Loved the video! To answer your question- BOTH. A mix of casual and tutorials= AWESOME!
Love the behind the scenes teaching videos. A nice mix would be great! Thanks for all you show us!
Your kitchen is fabulous. I wouldn't change a thing. I love decor based on function.
Hi there..Al from 'Lumnah Acres' recomended your homestead recipes...Looking forward..Lovely house and kitchen!💥😊
What a delightful kitchen!! Thank you for the great tour!
Enjoyed the Kitchen Tour. LOVE IT. The open look reminds me of the house we built. Thanks for sharing. NEAT.
love the lights over the island. I'd like to see what you're doing for garden prep & gardening this year. will you grow & preserve enough for an entire year
Thanks! ANd yes, lots of gardening videos to come!
Thanks so much! And so glad you've been finding the videos helpful. I like your curtain-front idea, btw!
My 12yr old daughter and I like both kinds of videos!
Uh I can just see your house all day it's beautiful and how you explain every detail makes me wanna be Homestead...goals 🙏
Love your kitchen I cook for a living. So used to a big kitchen and come home to a small one.You for sure have my dream one.
Personally I like a mix of both!
Im like you -- a tornado LOL I think the shiplap is perfect. Smart design choices. Beautiful house!
I love your style.....it's your own and it's practical!! I'm very practical as well! But you did a great job of making it look warm and inviting! Thank you for being real and for sharing!
Your kitchen is gorgeous and looks like a joy to work in. I love it all!
My husband gave me an attachment for my Kitchen Aid mixer to make egg noodles. When I cut the recipe in quarters I can mix the dough in my mixer too.
