    great info my friend, thanks! i have an Imperial IR6 all gas industrial oven in my home. Its probably around 20 years old and up until recently, been working great. what it has started doing is coming on extremely hot with the dial set on low temps. so ie: i set the dial on 250 and the flame cranks up to like 450. would this be a bad thermostat or could it possibly be adjusted like you did in the video here. feedback would be appreciated. thanks again.

      Hey Raj, this sounds like too big of a swing to be an adjustment. Sounds like a bad thermostat to me. Sorry for the delay in my response, its been a busy few months! But thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video

    How can I change the thermostat and also how to regulate the gas pressure. Also why does the oven turn of by its self when the oven reaches the temperature.

    • @Windycityequip
      @Windycityequip  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Changing the thermostat would require it's own video, and honestly, I would recommend calling in a service company to do that as there is much that could go wrong. The gas pressure should be regulated with an external gas regulator connected to the incoming line to equipment. And the oven shuts off when it reaches temperature because if it didnt, the temperature would continue to rise. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

      It's a Comark DT33. J type thermocouple. Love these thermometers. They have been what I've used for the past 10 years. Thanks for watching!

    why is it called a bj thermostst and are most controls adjusted this way ??

    When I push on the center screw it doesn't push in. Also how is the center screw adjusted?

    • @Windycityequip
      @Windycityequip  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Victor Curtis Sometimes that center screw doesn't push in like it is supposed to and you have to put your screwdriver on it and give it a little "tap" to pop it free (only tap IN, never turn the screw). If it still doesn't push in then you need a new thermostat. The center screw ALWAYS needs to stay in place. Always 1) Push 2) Hold 3) Turn the dial to match the temperature of the oven. Never try to turn the center screw to calibrate. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    Is there a commercial kitchen repair book I can buy?

    • @Windycityequip
      @Windycityequip  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, absolutely. Don Walker wrote a two books (gas & electric) on commercial equipment repair. You should be able to google "Don Walker equipment repair" here's a link to the amazon listing www.amazon.com/Keeping-Electric-Restaurant-Equipment-Cooking/dp/0967352312/ref=pd_sbs_14_t_0/137-9208703-3348352?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=0967352312&pd_rd_r=86ea8678-da7d-455a-8e91-2f11680f2e03&pd_rd_w=ndPPp&pd_rd_wg=cGkNY&pf_rd_p=5cfcfe89-300f-47d2-b1ad-a4e27203a02a&pf_rd_r=N1HDNWT1F7D66XTZNX9H&psc=1&refRID=N1HDNWT1F7D66XTZNX9H

    I tried this with our US Range. I couldn't get the dial to move in tandem with the screw. Now the oven won't turn on at all. Any idea what happened?

    • @Windycityequip
      @Windycityequip  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      First, the screw should not move. The screw is held in place while the dial is moved to the temperature that the unit is currently running at. If you did this, but now the unit won't come on, chances are that the thermostat was too far out of calibration to begin with and was "unresponsive". Unfortunately the only way to rectify that is to replace the thermostat. Hopefully this helps! Thanks for watching!

    I have a US Range and mine doesn't ever seem to be hitting the bypass flame no matter where the thermostat is set. Is there a fix for this or am I in need of a new thermostat? Thanks

    • @Windycityequip
      @Windycityequip  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You'll probably need a new tstat if it never satisfies at temp. Every once in a while, this is caused by the bypass flame being set too high so it will appear as though the tstat isn't satisfying. Easy way to test this is to close the bypass entirely (usually a silver or gold flathead screw on the thermostat itself) and run the unit to temp. If the flames go off completely when it reaches temp, your bypass was set too high. If they still don't go off, you need a new tstat. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    How much do you charge to calibrate bj thermostat?
    -Upload a video on how to replace it

    • @Windycityequip
      @Windycityequip  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eulises Anda Usually we can get a thermostat calibrated in less than 1 hour. So, at our current rates, we would charge about $170.00. And thank you for the input, I will be sure to upload a video on how to replace a BJ thermostat. Thanks for watching!!
