    My ol man was a Coldstream guard drummer in that parade ...twenty then ..he later became the drum major of the 3rd btn Royal Fusiliers ....RIP dad proud of you .

    Yes I and I noticed they also played it marching off thee Troop in 1949 too!
    A bit strange given the occasion.

    Massed Bands of 20 x 17 = 340.
    In 2022, we had 20 x 13 = 260.
    I guess we should be grateful that's only a 24% cut!
    (Especially considering most of the rest of the bands in the Army have gone already).
    But still Horseguards was always hard to fill with sound, and the 1950 band was better at accomplishing that.
