I totally agree with the enjoyment of solving the Webflow puzzle. I'm currently a Graphic Designer but planning to move into UIUX and Web design with Webflow. I started with Webflow, got frustrated, moved to Framer, but I don't know why, I just came back to Webflow again and it felt less frustrating. I'm currently taking the 21 day portfolio course and plan to go all in in 2024, build more projects and keep moving. I don't have a plan yet but I will try to sit down and ask myself what I actually want to do Thanks for sharing
Yeah I'm working on the updated Flux Webflow course and it's a blast, super in-depth which I love. Yeah Framer is cool, but lacks the fun puzzle nature of Webflow. Good luck with your Webflow journey!
I completely resonate with your experience. I've also navigated between tools like Framer, Webflow, and Wix Studio. Even I have also enrolled for the Flux Academy master class. It's impressive you reached an internediate level! I've dabbled in Webflow, paused midway, explored Framer, built portfolios and projects there, and now feel drawn back to Webflow. I completely resonate with your journey! Connecting one-on-one could definitely boost both my confidence levels in tackling Webflow. If you have time let’s connect someday over a web meet.
Thanks a bunch for inspiring me to try out Webflow! I was stuck figuring out what to do for months, but now it's clear - Webflow is where I want to focus. I've always liked coding, but I also want to be more creative and express myself, and Webflow seems perfect for that. Now, I'm giving myself a shot at what I really want in life while keeping coding as a hobby. It's a win-win for my talents. Your help means a lot. Much love! ❤❤
It's such an awesome feeling when you finally figure out where you want to focus, I'm happy for you! I'm glad you liked the video, and best of luck to you! :)
Man I gotta tell you your videos are such an inspiration and motivation. I finally got an offer the other day after months of job hunting and I can totally relate how we doubt our decisions when things don't go swimmingly. It's about the perseverance and I know you got it. Keep at it and good luck.
You're not alone in the "hunt for truth" as to what you want to be when you grow up. I'm 42, and I just came to the same conclusion as you have. Been multiple things in my life to include engineer, soldier, help desk rep, etc. I'm, like many millennials, looking for a remote career that gives me the freedom to work from where I want, and (say it with me) when I want. I'm developing my web dev skills while transitioning from electrical engineering to software engineering at my current employer. I will be starting my own business and will make an exit from working for someone else once it picks up. Great video!
I think many of us are suffering from choosing which tech to use. It's incredibly confusing and the shadow of growth and knowledge that we've made wrong choices is painful and tiring. I'm approaching it like 'you have to walk through the forest of uncertainty and complexity to get to the road of simplicity, which leads back into the forest, and so it goes.' Good luck and all of the best amigo.
I love that forest statement, totally rings true! The important thing I think is not which path to take, but just the fact that you pick one at all and stick to it.
Hey Jansley, I've ran into your video, and I must say I'm so glad, as I am in the same position as you. After searching for UX/UI jobs and having a not so good experience with that, I've started thinking of starting learning Webflow and put all my resources into learning it. Love your thinking process and looking forward to see you succeed. Thank you for this!
Wish you the best man. I appreciate your transparency. I too like the puzzle aspect of figuring out how to position more complex layouts (especially when positioning elements in within a grid). Going the more technical way is the way to go, building with Webflow (IMO) bridges the gap between UX/UI and Developer.
Absolute true. There is a lot of fear of missing out when trying focus on „the one“ thing. And chasing money is also a bad thing. Fully understand what u said and think that so many people feel the same way.
I feel like you are speaking to me; I'm attempting to go toward graphic art and UX design. Everyone around me believes it's easy because they see all those videos on TH-cam that claim it's simple, easy, and pays well after just three months. I have 20 years of expertise as a software engineer, so that gives me an advantage, but it's still not that easy. Regarding those TH-camrs, a good number of those guys are definitely lying in order to promote courses because they don't have any other jobs-at least not in software development.
I'm glad you resonate with the video! And yes, there are always the sleazy youtubers just trying to sell a course. I like to think that's the minority of people though. Thanks for stopping by!
This is very inpiring, Jansley - especially since we had similar experiences. For me, Webflow will be my main website building tool. The problem is, there are not alot of resources out there to assist you with learning so as to give you the confidence you need to take on clients' projects. The Flux academy course should be very good, all the best 👍
Glad you liked the video, I’m still a strong believer in the future of Webflow as a web design/dev tool. Flux has been crucial in helping me gain confidence with it. Highly recommend!
i am at the beginning of webflow course at flux academy. I did the webflow 101 in webflow university which I enjoyed. I want to build a website for my wife's payroll education. My overall goal is to build a website that is an asset that makes money automatically and to forget this j.o.b thing. My focus is to build connections and to make the lives around me better. If I can do that I will feel like a successs. Great to see your story.
The problem with me is that once I seem to have everything figured out like how you said that you now know your path... Is when I leave everything and go chasing something else.
Rule of thumb: "The more important a call or action is to our soul's evolution, the more Resistance we will feel toward pursuing it". Follow your dreams, my friend.
wow... this is exactly where I'm at. Framer is tempting for many reasons but I just enjoy the process of slowly seeing a site come together and the problem solving that goes with it. Might not make sense to the Framer folks but seems like you get where I'm coming from. Still open to utilizing Framer more in the future, but at the very least I am committing to mastering Webflow first.
It's been interesting following along with you on your journey. I tried to get into web dev about 2 years ago while also teaching full-time and burned myself out. Having said that, the itch never goes away. Looking forward to seeing where you go from here.
Good video bro, but an advice of some years of market, you'll never be ready, its good to have a pathway to go through, but dont wait until you have all the certifications and the best portfolio. There are clients that u already can solve their problems, real business problems that goes further than all the screens u have passed through your process. Showing them developing process, grids and etc is good. But showing them how all your design skills aplied to their business can change their game is MUCH more interesting to real businesspeople. Make your work transcend the simple service provision. GL
Hi, love your video. Decided to learn webflow this year. Could you please give me some tips on how to get started with webflow. I am kinda overwhelmed 😅
Webflow is definitely the platformone of the future in my opinion. I've seen many site building platforms and I have to say that web flow is number one.
As a developer and designer, I feel like I could go with either Webflow or Framer, but while I also wanted to focus on Webflow for the job market I feel like paywalling the free sites is one of the worst things and makes practicing and learning the platform way harder. Framer lets you just create as much as you want on the free account and has cheaper starter plans which helps before eventually getting work or doing your own projects. With Webflow's success and quality, I don't know why they're so stingy with private exercise projects.
While Webflow requires payments initially, Framer locks you into their ecosystem. Can’t export code. That’s a dealbreaker for me. Everyone is different though and has different needs. Appreciate you watching!
@@jansleyreal no probs. I actually forgot about that point and it is an important one, especially considering projects for handing off to clients 😅 I saw some very favourable content about Framer's benefit to a software product/service company, but it sounds less favourable for other kinds of websites. Webflow doesn't let you export code for free though so it's still a bit strange for limiting the practice projects. Maybe people make bloated sites that are heavy to host lol. The choice shouldn't matter too much for a simple website, I suppose?
f*** wish washy. thats life, bringing some order to chaos. lots to consider- being flexible is the secret. then go for it. i'm tired if all the dudes that pretend to always know what to do at the right time. be human- all good
