  • Posterity band song # 67. Mogollon, Flagstaff, AZ 3/15/03. Sai Baba Gig 1/song 19. Thanks and Praises. Charlie Williams: guitar & vocals. Rand Anderson: guitar, mandolin. Ceta Singley: keys. Derek Johnson: bass (RIP 2004). Das Singley: percussion. me: drums.
Last song I have of this gig, St Patty's Day 2003. 19 tracks, 21 songs. I was basically learning how to play reggae beats on stage. Charlie Williams & Ceta Singley taught me one drop & steppers beats. I was a nervous wreck but I think the songs sound pretty tight considering.
Derek's bass playing was such a pleasure to play drums to. We really locked in the bass & drums. Miss him a lot. Rand's lead guitar playing is stellar and pretty epic in my opinion listening back now. I played drums for his band Gravy for a few months in 2006 filling in for their drummer who was on tour with Telescope (I think.) It's funny how during the gig (and many gigs) I'm so focused on having a steady beat, locking in with the bass, being aware of the changes and hold on the best I can.
Ceta Singley is one of the most talented musician multi-instrumentalists I've ever met and played with. He's taught me a lot and I've played in quite a few bands with him, mostly because of his band connections. So thank you Ceta for all the band experiences. Priceless, really.
Chalie Williiams is also another super talented signer/songwriter, guitar and bass player who has a great voice and range and has also been a great friend over the past 25 years or so.
Das is Ceta's dad, a Philly native who moved to Flagstaff in the 70's and never looked back. A former deadhead who saw the dead in their prime and had a brief cameo in their GD movie, 1973 I believe? Das is one of the coolest guys I ever met and he's been like a dad to me as well. Reminds me a bit of Robert DeNiro. Always fun having him play percussion at gigs with Ceta, his son.
The next gig recording I have of Sai Baba is 2 years later when we opened for Toots & the Maytals 4/26/05 at the Orpheum, Flagstaff which I'll upload in the near future. But before that there's a Mt Dell, Flagstaff, AZ house party 3/19/05 that was recorded and I definitely want to upload to listen to when I'm feeling nostalgic for those days.
Next up is a gig I played with Dialectic. Stay tuned...
