You are absolutely correct. I just googled it and this dropped 2 years before WAP did! I suppose it would be more correct to say Megan referenced or took inspiration from BLACKPINK in this case! Either way, it was a similar flow!
Not to mention you can only reference what you know. Once you open up yourself to different music from around the world you can see the influence from around the world not just America.

Blackpink is a South Korean band, at the moment it is the most popular female group, they are known not only in Korea, but all over the world. In 2023, they became Coachella headliners. They also received the VMA Group of the Year award.
Good reaction. Welcome to the Blackpink Universe, it is a very happy place. Not all their videos are very deep and thoughtful, but this is one is. This is one big FU to all their haters. They are not turning the other cheek ("DDu Du DDu Du" is the sound mimicking gun fire and they are gunning down their haters with their finger guns during the chorus). They are talking smack to their haters ("I don't care what people think, I give it to them straight" "we are pretty and savage" "whatever you say doesn't faze me" "My hands are full of fat checks, ... go on and fact check." "Think twice, I don't pretend to play nice like others" "you are too predictable" "what are you going to do when I come through (as in what are you going to do when I am even more successful and your attacks have just been a waste of time)"). After debuting each member had been attacked. For example, Lisa had been getting racist threats of physical violence so much so that the Thai embassy in Seoul felt compelled to get involved. Jennie was the focus of a lot of hate for being a lazy dancer, demanding that she be dropped from BP (that has gone away with many spectacular live performances), and Jisoo had been targeted as the Black Hole of Blackpink and was virtually ignored at fan signing events (accused of adding nothing but a pretty face, Jisoo is now recognized as tremendously talented and has gained a tremendous loyal following). Numerous Kpop idols have been driven to suicide by vicious social media attacks. In the Jisoo falling scene, at first the men are focused on Celebrity Jisoo on the wall mural, ignoring or just not caring about the real Jisoo standing right next to them. But when she falls (has some type of embarrassing personal or social moment) their focus turns completely onto real Jisoo, and they transform into masked assassins using their phones as weapons to finish her off (symbolizing internet netizens that use their phones for participating in social media attacks on idols). I’ve obsessed on Decembrists, got lost in probably the best live studio music in the world in Pakistan (Coke Studio and Nescafé Basement), and fell into kpop rabbit hole for a couple years. Consider this all an industry, not a genre, because you may hear multiple genres even in one song, or endless variety between and among groups. Seoul has LA beat hands down on music video production and has learned how to make money without paying homage to US Music Industry. How else could this song have 2b views without you ever hearing it in a US radio station. Enjoy your ride.
Hi, I loved your unbiased reaction. I copy here a comment I have posted earlier to someone but it was related to another K-Pop group, but still, the core of the message is relevant for you as well. Hope it puts things into perspective. ---- My two years in K-Pop has really transformed my understanding of music, so I will try to summarize how me as a westerner with a harder music taste (Nightwish, Muse, Evanescence, Pink Floyd) is now WATCHING (recall later, not just listening) 70% K-Pop and how DreamCatcher became my all time favorite group. It is going to be a longer post but I think pretty useful for anyone new into K-Pop. First of all K-Pop was not really a genre. It stands for Korean Pop. So the roots have a lot to do with the culture itself (like the Korean language sometimes incorporating even full English sentences, so by natural a K-Pop song has Korean and English sections, even switching within a single sentence). K-Pop is relatively new, the basics were experimented and put together by Seo Taiji and Boys somewhere around 1990 and the first generation groups are dated between 1990-2003. (as for reference we are in the era of 4th and 5th generation groups, Blackpink being the queen of 3rd gen and BTS being the King of 3rd gen) Seo has experimented with various MIDI sounds to produce new types of music, blended in hip-hop and asked two dancers / backup vocalists to join him to perform in a TV talent show as a group. Rest is history. But this has shaped the basic elements of K-Pop: Produced music with rap section, performed with choreography for a TV. Let's break it down: K-Pop is a mixture of mostly western genres, Hip-Hop playing an integral part, so almost all title tracks have some form of rap section combined with other genres. So you will hear plenty of genre switching across multiple sections. K-Pop title tracks are mostly consumed in an audiovisual format, not just audio only. So instead of a radio, you mostly see it as a video clip. This is important as the visuals are an integral part of a track not just some addition. And part of the visuals is the dance choreography for every title track. The existence of this dance choreograph also means that a tracks is not just sang but performed. K-Pop is mostly performed in groups by idols, not singers and band members. There are solo artists, but most of them are former or active group members (Like Rosé from BlackPink). A group dance looks better than a solo dance and it is hard to sing and dance at the same time so it helps if members take turns performing and dancing. Also due to the large selection of genres blended you need different voices, skills, rappers, so a group setup fits much better to perform a K-Pop track. Most groups have 4-8 members with different roles and role ranks. (Main, lead, normal, sub OF vocalist, rapper, dancer. Additional roles are leader, face of the group / visual (acting skills for M/Vs), maknae (only stands for the youngest member, but age in Korea is REALLY important.) ) K-Pop artist are called Idols not singers, as they need to be skilled in various areas: Singing, dancing, acting, rapping. Most rappers can also sing, many singers can also rap, at least to some degree. Everyone needs to able to dance and act (as visual aspect is important). And also they are public figures with potential fanbase, so they MUST comply with Korean cultural values. No scandals, questionable behavior, alcohol, drug, smoking etc. K-Pop has no real instruments, it uses a backing track and the music is produced. This is possible as the time K-Pop was born the technology was advanced enough to produce high quality music. And K-Pop pushed the limits FAR above western standards. With high quality samples of instruments you can create such complex tracks that would normally be impossible using a band only. Backing track is also the key for them to blend so many genres as for each section they can use a different set of instruments and the switches between sections can get really creative with sound effects etc. To illustrate the above, I keep going back to this guys first reaction to K-Pop when he has tried to process and break down a song by DreamCatcher just to realize how complex the backing track is and how many different instruments, sound layers and sound effects are used up to a point he has even missed the distorted electric guitar at first :D I highly recommend to watch on your own at least the first 4 minutes, it helps to understand the difference between K-Pop and traditional Pop / Rock: th-cam.com/video/WshNv1WH1aQ/w-d-xo.html So why K-Pop can be pretty damn good? Well, you are not restricted by instruments anymore, you can have many highly skilled vocalists and rappers in one group to sing in so many flavors, have good rap sections, genre switches to keep things interesting, killer visual and nice choreograph. And you WILL learn to appreciate even the dancing aspect even if at first it feels off or weird. And why DreamCatcher for me? You can ask Google: "Who is the face of rock in K-Pop" They are also pioneers on their own right, being a unique group to incorporate rock and metal into all their title tracks. Their birth was made possible by the International success of K-Pop as rock and metal are not popular in Korea, so large portion of their fanbase is International. Disclaimer: They are NOT a rock or metal band, they are a K-Pop vocal group with 7 awesome vocalists/rappers. The music they have created did not exist before them so at first it might even sound weird, as rock/metalheads do not expect woman to be dancing and singing to hard hitting rock/metal parts after a pop and rap section and their first natural question is "OK, but where are the instruments, why are the drums/guitars sampled". So their music needs multiple listen to hit. Somebody below has recommended Dreamcatcher - Boca but be aware: That is a Moombahton - rock - hip hop - pop mixed tracks with super strong switches. And actually one of my favorites. Their most recent comeback 'Justice' might be an easier first listen since your ear is not used to K-Pop switches... But have fun in your journey, make sure to try out multiple different groups as there is no such a thing as K-Pop sound. Each group has their own unique blend of sound and mixture within the genres that you need to try many before you can figure out what is the right mix for your taste. It will be a fun ride, enjoy.
@@arminarlert6871 TL DR, he was still asking for music with guitars meaning he he has not read this post, so you are right. I just do not get why are they asking for guidance if they do not read.
I do read. But I said I was gonna react to three BLACKPINK songs before I jumped into other KPOP. Both times I asked I got different responses. Thank you both for taking the time to leave comments
I think K-pop gain a lot of audiences with MVs but once you get in to it, whole family from the youngest members to the oldest members can listen to. Most of K-pop songs have positive clean lyrics and decent meanings. Also K-pop artists are generally have decent images. Most significant differences compared to most American songs and musicians
It wasn't because you didn't know who Rosé was, it was your condescending comments/reaction towards the song calling it "TikTok content"! Yes, you are entitled to your opinion, but so is everyone else you are asking to support you and your channel! Which was the irony of your reaction to "APT"!
What makes APT unique and different is that it is very different from ALL of the previous BlackPink songs and videos. BlackPink songs are the best at what they do. Everything from songwriting to production to music videos are the top. So, APT was a very pleasant, ironic step in a different direction.
Rose' is named as the golden voice of kpop, no cap. And this songs is before TT tho. Whatever you say you sound biased. Try their debut song "Whistle" and "Boombayah" on 2016. Btw if you don't know "APT" is Bruno picked. Now you are insulting Bruno choice.
Welcome to Kpop music. No one is judging you. I never knew about Kpop till I listened to Money by Lalisa Manobal from Blackpink. I really thought it is all English when I ventured into the song - kill this love because money was in English. But no , then I realised this huge genre that I never knew existed. Maybe I'm naive, I'm more into the queen , imagine dragons kinda music.. so no one is questioning here and the blinks and lilies are supportive here.. please put subtitles to understand the lyrics . That makes it more enjoyable...
lol you keep saying APT, this song doesn’t require deep analysis, you either like the fun or not, two artists stepped out of their comfort zone and did something qualitatively new from their repertoire experience. If you like analysis, I recommend On the Ground - this is Rosé's first child, which established her as an artist with not only a unique vocal tone but also a pen and vision
These girls are better singers...better rappers....better dancers than anything coming out of the West. And thats why the are by far the most popular female group in the world !!!!! Have done intense training for 16 hours a day for 5 to 6 years. Listen to their newer stuff and see just how talented they really are !!!!
I'm going to give you a little context that the others haven't and why "Apt" sounds like it does. The Pinks have been performing now for eight years, with several years training before that. The girls all soaked up musical influences but Rose probably more than most as she grew up in Australia. YG, their agency, sat hard on the girls' solo activities and was one of the reasons all four split from their agency for solo projects. So "Apt" harkens back to the days when Rose grew up listening and singing to western pop. She's always had a Rockin' Rosie side she never got to express and this is that coming out. She has enormous musical talent and knowledge of pop music, so the remaining eleven songs are likely to cover a very wide range of styles, but we Blinks love that she finally just got to cut loose and rock out for the first time in years. We're over the moon at how successful it is, and that it appears to be the gateway song into the incredible world of Kpop for many people. I think you're going to be pretty amazed the further you go...
BLACKPINK is the first and only kpop group to headline COACHELLA and HYDE PARK, BLACKPINK is the biggest kpop group in history and their impact is unmatched.
If you are interested in continuing to dive into K-pop, then I can offer you several groups IVE - Heya BABYMONSTER - Sheesh (G)I-DLE - Super Lady DREAMCATCHER - Boca ITZY - Loco AESPA - Whiplash STRAY KIDS - Chk chk boom TREASURE - King Kong ATEEZ - Work
It’s a little disingenuous in your intro to claim people were mad simply because you didn’t like the music or had an opinion on it. People were more triggered about things you stated like they were facts like the music was a “cash grab” and “made only for Tiktok content”. Those aren’t opinions, they are judgmental assumptions
The name Blackpink is actually a play on words that brings together the opposites of Black and Pink. Black connotes power, Pink suggest grace and femininity. The two together represent the groups aspiration to be strong and independent while still retaining their feminine allure. It looked a lot like a dog but it's actually a Fennec Fox. Thanks for taking the time to react to Blackpink. In 2023 Blackpink headlined Coachella , both weekends. They became the first kpop group to do so. The estimated attendance for each of their 4 shows was 125K. Additionally, Coachella sponsored a live worldwide stream of each show with viewership coming in at 250M per show. Please react to their live Coachella performance of PRETTY SAVAGE. I enjoyed your reaction and comments although you seemed to be defending yourself a little too much. Never give the critics oxygen to continue breathing, just let them quietly disappear.
Yes open minded is important, bc music is universal and music have so many variable.. its okay if you dont like these kind of music but its not okay to judge it bc music have all kind of purposed in it. Even if just to make you happy not smth that has deep meaning, still it is still a music.
That’s a long introduction and disclaimer there 😂 Pretty sure us fans will be fine if you won't like their songs as long there’s no disrespect going on.
I listen to kpop because I hate people singing along with the song (messing up the vibe)!!:-) kpop only limits the times anyone can sing along :-) on the english parts only :-)
KPop is an interesting genre or musical industry, i grew up a metal head and wannabe music producer, i truly believe the best produced and creative music is coming out of Korea right now, but if you don't like pop then your not gonna like it, it's all personal taste of course
Mr. Rooski, there's a new King Gizzard track out and the whole album is gonna have an orchestra incouded! Also, did you ever get the chance to hear the Fishing For Fishies album all the way through yet or is that gonna happen on the next gizz day stream?
Now i subscribe you for reason you reaction black pink song. I love them so much. Please reaction more lisa's Mv, dance for Lisa's TH-cam channel LLOUD. Also pink vemon, shut down song.
This is pretty outdated, as well as boombayah. I really hope you check out some newer kpop stuff, its absolutely insane. The productions are top of the world
No hate at all but Kpop was made to be korean pop. Aka pop (African beats and American attitude) but in korean!! Blackpink was meant to follow 2ne1 (said like 21) their mothers! You should react to them. They are fr their own type of music style (songs I like from 2ne1 is: im the best, i dont care, and CL one of the members solo songs)
WAY better than APT. Your correct in saying Kpop is an imitation of western pop. Not saying thats a bad thing because most western music is an imitation of 20 other things but even though this music is corporate pop designed to make money for Korean corporations. I think the girls they picked for this group have incredible talent and the producer for this band is pretty amazing and it results in a catchy danceable song. the Music video is probably way better than the actual song In my opinions because you get all that showmanship that you wouldnt get listening on spotify.
@walterooski oh ok got it lol also check out babymonster they from same label as bp they are their lil sister group still rookies and topping charts already lol
Others have saiid it this song is older than the comparisons you made. If any comparisons should be made they are ones being copied. But I know you just said the feel of the song.
I didn't see your reaction to ATP but with your explanatory speech at the beginning and the way you tried to justify whether you liked the group's song or not, it's clear that your reaction was not fortunate. You don't have to like the songs, but you must respect the work of any artist, musician and performer. I think it would be more honest of you to go, I didn't like it, I don't like Kpop, I don't like the group, and not react to it. Music is subjective and in the end it is for enjoying and having fun.
You talk to much, this makes no fun to watch with all that i"important" interuptions. With all respect to a reaction, this is really to much. Thumb down!
With that opening disclaimer, This guy must have been encountered hardcore blink
Lol
😂
I thought the same thing lol
he didn't chill a sec in the opening
This is so funny 🤣🤣🤣
lol. it seems like he may have had not so complimentary comments about Rosé and/or Apt when he did a reaction video on it (which he seems to have taken down). and so, here he is reacting to BP. :)
hope he didn't receive too much hate from Blinks. everyone has a right to his/her opinion, although your opinion is wrong if you dislike any of the BP ladies. 😂
YT removed the video. I'm in the appeal process currently.
just a little heads up, this song is older than Megan The Stallions career

(as for reference we are in the era of 4th and 5th generation groups, Blackpink being the queen of 3rd gen and BTS being the King of 3rd gen) Seo has experimented with various MIDI sounds to produce new types of music, blended in hip-hop and asked two dancers / backup vocalists to join him to perform in a TV talent show as a group. Rest is history. But this has shaped the basic elements of K-Pop: Produced music with rap section, performed with choreography for a TV. Let's break it down:
K-Pop is a mixture of mostly western genres, Hip-Hop playing an integral part, so almost all title tracks have some form of rap section combined with other genres.
Additional roles are leader, face of the group / visual (acting skills for M/Vs), maknae (only stands for the youngest member, but age in Korea is REALLY important.) )
K-Pop artist are called Idols not singers, as they need to be skilled in various areas: Singing, dancing, acting, rapping.
To illustrate the above, I keep going back to this guys first reaction to K-Pop when he has tried to process and break down a song by DreamCatcher just to realize how complex the backing track is and how many different instruments, sound layers and sound effects are used up to a point he has even missed the distorted electric guitar at first :D I highly recommend to watch on your own at least the first 4 minutes, it helps to understand the difference between K-Pop and traditional Pop / Rock: th-cam.com/video/WshNv1WH1aQ/w-d-xo.html
So why K-Pop can be pretty damn good?
Girl no one's gon read all that
@@arminarlert6871 TL DR, he was still asking for music with guitars meaning he he has not read this post, so you are right.
What they do as a group and individually are different. Some may like it, some don't.
This Black Pink song was made long before Megan the Stallion had any music out.
And thats why the are by far the
most popular female group in the world !!!!! Have done intense training for 16 hours a day for 5 to 6 years. Listen to their newer stuff
and see just how talented they really are !!!!
Blackpink is a tremendous foursome, so it’s no surprise it’s quadruple the awesomeness of their solo stuff. 🤷♀️
REACT GONE AND ON THE GROUND FROM ROSÉ PLEASE
They fact they rarely used green screen is what still amazed me
BLACKPINK is the first and only kpop group to headline COACHELLA and HYDE PARK, BLACKPINK is the biggest kpop group in history and their impact is unmatched.
Bang Bang Lisa Gang 🔥
If you are interested in continuing to dive into K-pop, then I can offer you several groups
IVE - Heya
BABYMONSTER - Sheesh
(G)I-DLE - Super Lady
DREAMCATCHER - Boca
ITZY - Loco
AESPA - Whiplash
STRAY KIDS - Chk chk boom
TREASURE - King Kong
ATEEZ - Work
It’s a little disingenuous in your intro to claim people were mad simply because you didn’t like the music or had an opinion on it.
What happened??
What's with the opening?
In K-pop, it's OK to release a Dance performance to a song. There is also a choreography for almost every released song.
Welcome to journey of bp world
I suggest you listen to BLACKPINK - WHISTLE and BOOMBAYH these are their debut songs. They debuted on August 8, 2016
Yes open minded is important, bc music is universal and music have so many variable.. its okay if you dont like these kind of music but its not okay to judge it bc music have all kind of purposed in it. Even if just to make you happy not smth that has deep meaning, still it is still a music.
Please please please react "On the ground, gone, hope not, stay, the happiest girl" by Rosé and Black pink. I think you'll love that
i appreciate your genuine disposition and kindness!! if you are down, pls react to more blackpink :)
maybe jennie mantra and new woman by lisa
They have many similar sounds as a way of paying homage, they've often said this with their releases.
Please also reacting to BLACKPINK - HOW YOU LIKE THAT
In my journey oof seeing hundreds of blackpink reactions never seen anyone compare or say they sound like nicki LOL
I like kpop because not use dirty empty words, I agree with you about APT. Nothing to compare.
Mr. Rooski, there's a new King Gizzard track out and the whole album is gonna have an orchestra incouded! Also, did you ever get the chance to hear the Fishing For Fishies album all the way through yet or is that gonna happen on the next gizz day stream?

Not hating but minimal pausing would b good for the viewers 😊
Suggest reacting to some BTS there music is also really good
what is that introduction?
Did u react to apt i couldn't find it
TH-cam took it down. I’m appealing the decision.
@walterooski oh ok got it lol also check out babymonster they from same label as bp they are their lil sister group still rookies and topping charts already lol
Hello. Can you also check out Unis? Their debut album is We Unis. Eould like to hear your thoughts. Thank you
oh my gosh how dose je not know blackpink
Others have saiid it this song is older than the comparisons you made. If any comparisons should be made they are ones being copied. But I know you just said the feel of the song.
That isn't a dog . It's a fennac fox
Who is BLACKPINK? OMG, v jaké bublině žiješ?
U already hear Rose song how about Lisa the second members of BLACK PINK her song "money"
Brother you need a Blackpink education
Do du du du remix Tokio dome
중간에 노래를 끊지말고 한번 다 보고 난 다음에 다시 보면서 코멘트를 해봐라 그럼 반응이 더 좋을거다
Plz Don't listen to Pink venom. I personally don't recommend, it's very unique. Try all their other songs.
holy f*ing pausing!!!!
Thumb down!
you talking too much... its the.biggest group in the world..
