I would love to see you do a "guess the MLM" style video where you play random clips with the name censored and we can try to guess what MLM they're from
I’m bipolar and when companies claim that they’ve “helped” people stop taking their meds…. With no mention of talking to your doctor first or the risks involved…like I can’t… I really can’t. It’s so dangerous. Like life threatening in some cases. WHY? So you can make a Commission and then tell everyone that you now have financial freedom? Don’t you think if a vitamin would solve a mental health diagnosis everyone and their mother would be taking it?
"Pouring into you" and "getting plugged in" come out of the Protestant Evangelical churches many of these MLM huns attend. Examples: "Get plugged in to our weekly home groups" and "Pastor Tay poured into us a great teaching yesterday."
If a company has physical stores and online shopping, there’s literally no reason for them to start a “direct selling” portion if they’re not trying to cash in on an MLM scam…
I was in a LLR group when they released the new sweatshirts called “Amber”. The consultant decided to list all the sweatshirts with the caption “Amber Alert 🚨”. I commented how that seemed insensitive and promptly got kicked out of the group lol
I have been WAITING for Beyonce'a stylist to get called out. We went to hair school together. And when she started doing Beyoncé's hair, I was soooo excited for her. Someone from our town making it bigggg! BUT, it's been disappointing to see her move to Monat.
Soooo strange she’d feel the need to join an MLM considering she’d already reached success??? But I could see having a platform already helping create a down line 🥴
@@meghansullivan6812 100%. I can almost guarantee that she’s not using any of those products on herself. But it’s just to gain more money and finances because of her platform
This is so disappointing. I’ve personally experienced Kendra Scott’s philanthropic efforts. She gifted matching jewelry to moms and daughters in the cardiac ICU for Valentine’s Day in 2021 when my daughter had heart surgery. I’ve always had a soft spot for the company since then, but this is so disappointing!
It is very disappointing. Especially because it then makes you wonder if it was even done with good intentions, or as a way to use someone’s hard situation to form an emotional bond with a product, their product namely. I experienced something like this when I did a yoga teacher training. My emotions were high as were other students, and I think that can sometimes be used by unethical people to garner something from it, loyalty etc. so sorry, and wishing your family so much health and wellness. Remember good people are out there just as much as these garbage ones.
Don't let their present behaviour change your good memory! It was still a very sweet thing to do at the time, they obviously got new management or something like that so I definitely wouldn't support them now but they clearly did a nice thing for you when you needed it most, keep this as a precious memory between your daughter and you ❤️
There was a caring person behind the kindness you felt. Don't forget what was a positive and make it negative. I think you could wear what you were gifted without any shame! If someone asks about your jewelry, talk about the experience not the name brand.
I work in Child Welfare - and they have gifted sooo much to our local agency - not in jewelry but actual dollars to be used to help the caseworkers get their jobs done better. I'm heartbroken that it's true. I'd heard rumors but wasn't sure if it actually happened. Thanks to Hannah for wearing one in another video I came looking to confirm (so I actually think it's a good thing that she was wearing it - it alerted me to check it out).
What I found the most amazing is that they don't even try to make look like they are teaching people how to sell their products, they are teaching people how to sell the business
Yeah, if endra Scott wasn't adding/changing to an MLM model, instead of saying, "...with no emphasis on recruitment or building teams...." they'd say, "...with no recruitment or team building." Also, in one of the clips at the end, one of the two women said the magic words, "attraction marketing." When they say "attraction marketing," I think that it's more likely going to be "affinity fraud."
Even if they spent zero on products, $1,000 a month isn't even minimum wage! It sounds like a lot in passing, but that's $12,000 a year. Even now you can make 4 times that much working 9-5 at McDonalds! When I first started working I was making double that with health and dental AND discounted rent (worked as a leasing agent) and was considered poor in the city I lived in!
“One hairstylist referenced one Monat product and all of a sudden the Kardashians now use Monat, this is Ludacris!” Monet huns: “ Ludacris uses Monat!” 😂
Agree with this! You don’t have to toss it if you like it. You bought it before you knew so wearing it now isn’t supporting the business model or anything
Hi Hannah! I wanted to leave a comment about the “pouring into” and “plugged into” phrases. These aren’t unique to MLMs. These sayings, and many more, are very frequently used in Christian circles and at larger mega churches. I am a Christian myself, but I cringe at these sayings. “Pouring into” means investing in or mentoring. So someone with an intentional mother or father might say they “really poured into me”. “Plugged in” just means they’re getting involved and invested. Just wanted to add that! P.S. not all Christians say these cringey phrases or buy into MLMs. I am about to graduate with my BA in Biblical Studies and I can see the faith manipulation and twisting of Christianity in these “companies”.
Mega churches seem like the closest thing to devil worship on the planet, but I'm not religious so who am I to say idolatry and public prayer are sinful?
This company kills me. I suffer from anxiety and depression and this is truly dangerous. They’re begging for a lawsuit because someone did something awful because they went off their meds for this bs.
I’m an attorney and all I can think listening to the “mental wellness company” is wait until a child is harmed or causes harm because they were suffering from a mental illness and some “boss babe” told their parent to give them some supplement instead of seeking medical help. The lawsuits that will come…
It can and has happened with physical illnesses as well. watch some of hannah's horror stories vids and hear for yourself... as someone with innumerable chronic illnesses, I am so glad my mom keeps her essential oils to herself
I'm not a lawyer, but isn't it illegal to make these sorts of claims that X product will heal Y illness if you take it? Isn't that considered practicing medicine without a license?
@@EC_123-h8i yes, but it would be in violation of the FD&C act I believe. Essentially, if they make such claims, the product falls under the category of a medication and without going through the usual hoops you have to for FDA approval, then they would get in trouble if reported to the FTC and FDA. I'm not sure about the practicing being a doctor without a license charge, could be possible but it might be a bit of a stretch so long as they aren't diagnosing people.
i got a kendra scott as a gift from my mom so its very special to me! just as long as no one in the future goes “hey hun! i noticed you wearing kendra scott..” 😂 no thank you ma’am or sir!
Please don’t throw away your jewelry if you love it!! (Not wearing it in anti-mlm videos is one thing, but don’t throw it away!!) Maybe if someone asks you about it you can say it’s just a really good knock-off??? 🤷🏻♀️ Seriously though, I love your videos and am binging them!! Thank you for all your hard work! 🙏🏻
I’m feeling this way too. My husband has bought me a KS piece for every holiday and birthday since we’ve been together. I hate that they’ve gone this way but my jewelry is special to me because they were gifts.
Agreed! Don't throw your jewelry away, keep enjoying the things you love. Your (or your loved one's) money has already been spent. Future purchases can go elsewhere but please don't feel bad about pieces already in your collection.
None of them know what the real meaning is of "residual income." Drives me crazy! Residual income is income someone continues to receive after the completion of the income-producing work. The boss babes are still DOING WORK for their MLM 'bizness' so it's not residual....it's just income! Grrrrr
Yes! I was looking for this comment. The “expert” saying residual income multiple times made my skin crawl. I needed to confirm someone else in the world was hearing that and reacting to it as well.
I never used Amere but I was convinced not to take meds for my anxiety/depression but to use EO's. I am thankfully no longer in that cultlike mentality and have started my medication again.
What’s so hilarious about huns holding up Dave Ramsey as an “idol” is that he specifically says that the way to make money in MLMs is to get good at recruiting people who are good at recruiting, not by selling the products. He also says it’s a big red flag if the company isn’t upfront about being and MLM. 🤣
Yes! I just looked up a clip of him discussing this very thing. He said on that video from September 2023 and I quote “ If you tell me, you’re going into an MLM as a part-time job to make extra money I will tell you you’re a fool.” he said 73% of people who go into an MLM lose money. And he said that was a high statistic. This woman irritates me saying she’s coming from Dave Ramsey. This does not sound like what Dave Ramsey would say. I listen to him a lot. In fact, my husband and I are on the baby steps to pay off our house in the next year. And we’ve only owned the house for three.
@@Darc815TH-cam suggested some Dave Ramsey videos to me before I came across anti MLM and that's quite recently. I'm currently binging Hannah's playlist. It is so surprising to me why would huns like him. I haven't seen many of his videos, but he always says do not add to your debt (like opening a new credit card to pay for starter pack is probably not something he'd recommend). "Your car payment is how much?! Sell your fancy car and buy something for $1000 that will take you from A to B" not "Get a fancy car that you can't easily pay off and will probably get you into more debt for nice IG picks" What am I missing here?
I was about to comment this same thing two years later lol

@@Darc815I’m wayyyy late commenting but have to say Dave Ramsey would LOSE it if he saw this and her teaching financial peace university 2x, as far as I ever heard him say, does not make you a Ramsey financial planner. Lots of people facilitate group sessions of financial peace group sessions. Ramsey Solutions creates ALL the content, you can also do it at home. Basic Dave Ramsey is never spend more than you make, use cash, and if your income can’t pay your bills eat beans and rice and work multiple jobs until you can. But he lists side hustles allll the time and never says MLM. He says landscaping, pizza or food delivery, baby or do sit, tutor, freelance if skilled. NEVER anything that would cost money to start.
As someone who is on an anti-depressant I will say that I do approach my mental wellbeing holistically because I have learned so much more about my mind, body, and triggers. Taking a supplement and assuming it will cure all my woes doesn’t seem very “holistic” in my view. I fell into the wellness world (has its own issues without mlms…) and what was most damaging to me was constantly being pulled in different directions looking for all the answers from others. I feel bad for all the huns in this mlm who are struggling with their mental wellness. Also, I just started taking my daily multi-vitamins again. They make me feel much better, but I didn’t have to join a biz opportunity or ditch my meds.
Exactly. It’s so strange because my doctor who treats my anxiety/depression recommends multi-vitamins or whatever you’re low on so they’re not wrong to think vitamins help but 1. To act like doctors only want you on hard drugs is false, 2. Random collections of vitamins chosen at random is not more successful than medical treatment, 3. You can buy vitamins for cheap at the grocery store!
"Pouring into people" is something I heard a lot when I used to be Christian, so I think it might come from there. I've found religious people tend to say it when they want to support someone, pray for them, try to evangelize them, etc.
The mention of people going off their meds for Clip 4 is so infuriating and predatory! As someone on anti-depressants and who will be on them for life, I remember a time before I came to terms with being on meds long term. It was such a struggle and [TRIGGER WARNING] I did end up hospitalized when I tried to stop taking them by myself. I'm much better now and glad for my meds and take them regularly - but I know there would have been a point that a non-medication option would have been super enticing to me. And I know so many have been tempted by that idea too even if it's not what would be best for them. Sometimes meds aren't right for someone but it's so dangerous for random MLM hun to suggest that for others ...
I too am on an anti-depressant and I thank GOD for it. I have joked that I would be the spokesperson for the one that I am on because it works SO well and greatly improves the quality of my life. I hate how so many people act like it’s shameful to take them
This is so true and so important! I’m sorry you’ve struggled with mental health issues, and I can really relate. I’m very glad you’re doing better and found something that helps you significantly. What these people are doing is SO dangerous, even potentially life-threatening in some cases, and I wonder if they are breaking the law by practicing medicine without a license.
This financial one is especially puzzling. Investment advisors already, 'set their own schedule' and have, 'unlimited earning potential.' They don't need an MLM for that.
MLMs claiming people use their products that don't is so prevalent that the anti MLM weightloss support group I am in on Facebook asks that anyone who posts before and after pictures in the group puts the words No MLM on their photos to stop the huns that have snuck into the group from stealing the photos to promote their products. Unfortunately this came along after several photos were taken from the group.
Wait. I'm confused. I always thought "doing good for your community" meant a business sponsoring a kid's sports team or donating money to a park or the business adopting a section of road to pick up litter - - - it really just means opening a business? That's it??? Also-just thought of this: Can Monat's Compliance Division fine a Monat rep for making a wild unauthorized claim? Seems like if a MLM company wants to stop this kind of thing, all they would have to do is levy a monetary fine and the huns would quickly stop.
Hi Hanna, just want to add that being a Ramsey Financial Coach doesn’t mean you are a Financial Expert. Its an online course where you pay $3500+++ in 45 days. Its basically also sort of an MLM. Dave Ramsey’s former co host is also connected to Primerica and he is chummy with Amway. I used to be a fan but no respectable financial guru can ignore the financial harms of MLM.
Thank you for that clarification! I’m not surprised that there’s an MLM connection. I used the term “expert” because the first woman used the term “expert” to describe the second woman, but that’s for clarifying that it’s not the same thing as a coach ☺️
@@HannahAlonzo If you only knew how many MLM huns here pretend to be “Financial Experts”, thanks for this video, it inspired me to do a video on the Dave Ramsey of the Philippines (Chinkee Tan) he literally said on one of his training videos, MLM is 80% inviting and 20% selling, that we all know that definition is 100% a pyramid scheme.
Also he is being sued for racial discrimination and fired a pregnant woman for premarital sex and violating their moral code . It’s problematic at least .
@@heatherforster5962 I will say he also fired the man involved. Because they both signed forms saying they will follow the teachings of Jesus. And since they can't hide a pregnany. Both involved were fired.
@@patriciawills32 as someone who works in HR, asking people to sign contracts that dictate things like that outside of their work is problematic at best. You can't dictate what people do on their personal time away from their job. He is just a terrible person!
It cracks me up that a lot of the ads I see when I watch your videos are MLM-related. Stuff about becoming a better "network marketer" or getting good leads.
At the 30 minute mark, where she explicitly lays out the recruit 5 - pyramid scheme : holy moly! That was so dumb. I notice this all the time with huns that are my friends. I live in Utah, so I know more than a few! They speak all the time about their success, but rarely talk about what the business is. It's just 'success'. You can't make money fron success. Success is the result, not the method.
with amere, the fact they just call it “the company” just makes it sound like a cult lady claims she’s a researcher. why not conduct a double blind control trial with the product and a placebo. then have a third party evaluate your results
I had a lady reach out to me about Amare. She didn’t use the name but she sent me like a 3 min voice message. Basically saying how much she loves me and my family for a min. 🤨 ive never met her. She just follows me. Then she brought up struggling with depression. At first I was like awwww she’s reaching out for help. But then came the pitch came. She even mentioned my kids possibly struggling with mental health and how she has something that could help and we could make a bunch of money. She said she knows I have a huge following and I could take advantage of that. The whole thing was so messed up.
Re the language of MLMs - I'm currently reading "Cultish: The Language of Fanaticism," by Amanda Montell. It's so good and explains the usage, effects, and power of cultish language and explores why some people are more susceptible to it than others.
“Social retail” is another term. You need to look up what Modere is doing now with there social retail 2.0. They actually said that Amazon is going to be begging them for advice because it is so revolutionary. It’s ridiculous.
With the amount of “helping people” these MLM huns “do” the world is really in a “better place”. Every time I am watching them it feels like I am watching a parody.
I have been binging your anti MLM videos. I have been approached by a few MLMs over the years and honestly didn't know that is what they are called. I just knew that any business that would require you to recruit other people to make money was a NO for me. Thank you for all you do. P.S. When your kitties are talking in the background of your video, my kitties are looking for them. It's cute to watch my cats trying to figure out where they are.
As I watched this video, I stumbled upon a reels on Instagram where a Monat rep called herself a "shampoo dealer" and I instantly knew she was a Monat rep, still I checked her profile to make sure. Shampoo dealer is such a weird term to describe yourself 🥴
Dave Ramsey and his “pay cash for your house” idea🤦🏻♀️ my husband and I took the financial peace university class in San Diego CA. Everyone in the class was like “LOOOL” like we have $700k in friggin cash.
Love your content! I especially like that you don't mock or put down anyone. I've been been binge listening to your videos while remodeling my kitchen and it's been a real pleasure. I find the whole concept of MLMs (and the fact they're actually LEGAL) fascinating and deeply disturbing. Keep up the great work! ❤️
We'll never help women until we get rid of the idea that a regular job is a bad thing. I used to buy into that myth (I'm in my 50s, so staying home was more common when I married). I work that full time job now, 7-5, and make waaaay more money. We've earned security, flex time, vacations, and I'm paying off our new house in two years instead of 30. JOBS are awesome sometimes!
If I had a hair stylist/hair dresser that started touting Monat I'd get up and walk out. Middle of a cut? Oh well, someone else can fix it. Shampoo in my hair? No worries, it's fine. (Unless she's using Monat.) Leave my final payment at the door and never be back. No responsible hair stylist would use that on themselves knowing the lawsuits.
This content is so very needed and appreciated. I share with my friends and this blows their minds as much as it does mine with analysis and amazing points
The mental health MLM really got me mad, and I'm used to these MLM shenanigans. It's just... The people creating these """businesses""" are just vultures. Disgusting.
I was super disappointed that Kendra Scott announced an MLM arm under their umbrella. I love Kendra Scott jewelry and own several pieces (it’s one of the few “costume” jewelry brands that doesn’t make me break out), so I’m torn on whether to buy more pieces.
I recently came across your channel and I've been catching up on content. I know this is an "older" video so you may not see this, but thank you for doing what you do. I have so many friends and family members who've fallen for MLM schemes, luckily I never did, and close friends and family are waking up to how predatory these practices are. unfortunately I've had to block so many people from my high school or previous co-workers or extended family due to them falling for an MLM and repeating predatory behaviour to try and recruit me (despite me saying no thank you politely multiple times)
Clip 5: I always ask people for their Gross Amount after expenses (their own purchases, tax, etc) or show me your P+L (profit and loss statement). Most don't have a clue... and they call themselves "business people". The thing is there is a big tax free income threshold here in Australia so someone earning only $1000 would fall into that threshold and be 'tax free'. Yet still, after her own expenses... i'm glad it was her wake up call. I wish it would other people.
Just found your channel about a week ago and been watching some of these Horror Stories and Fails, and would you believe it, one of my friends I suspected of being in an MLM is in this video! While I don't want to say I feel better for getting it confirmed since I already pretty much knew, it just makes it more sad for me knowing there isn't anything I could really do to get her out (the one she is in the video for is not her first MLM). BTW, Dave Ramsey is also big in the catholic/christian community (it was touted at the church I grew up in) so I'm not surprised that it is so common in MLM hun groups. Thank you for all you do, I've learned a lot already in the week since I've found you!
22:37 So she mentions people having to get a credit card for emergencies then ending up in debt unable to pay it off and how terrible that is...and yet she probably would pressure someone to put their MLM order on a credit card saying it's "an investment" snd they'll "pay it off with the first order they sell!"
As someone who was on the ground level of “new & exciting” way to “partner” with my (former) favorite online boutique, the thing I was most upset/frustrated about was how little money I made. I was in another MLM previously, knowing full well that I would never reach the income that friends did. I worked my ass off, got my products covered, & that was enough for me. I had absolutely ZERO intentions of EVER joining any (& another) MLM, but didn’t see the harm in it. I only jumped on the “ground floor” with the boutique because I was consistently getting asked where I had purchased my clothes & saw the possibilities since I was there from the get go. Not only was I nowhere near as successful as I had been with my previous “business”, despite “getting in early”, I quickly saw the boutique change courses & became embarrassed to be “affiliated” with them. I thought about leaving for 10 solid months, even going as far as removing my payment information from the back office so that my monthly website fees could not be deducted only to continue getting sucked back in. I finally saw the light (thanks to Hannah, as well as a few other TH-camrs), planned my exit according to shopping trends, & was prepared. Less than a week later, events took place that I could no longer stomach & I pulled the trigger. There was absolutely no way that I could stomach the thought of being connected to them in any way. Apologies for the novel…I guess I should’ve emailed this in as a Horror Story 🤦🏼♀️, but all this to say, I am already so saddened at the thought of so many women thinking they are striking GOLD by “getting in on the ground floor”.
@@carinelsonfreeland Thank you for setting things straight with the truth about getting in early. I guess Hannah is so so right about there truly being no way to win in an MLM
Honestly it doesn't surprise me! He is a scumbag of a person and literally fires people for things they do in their personal lives that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the employees jobs. I hated how the fundie world worshipped him when I went to those churches. It makes perfect sense thart he would get involved with an mlm type of structure.
I have just been binging the "horror stories" and am now trying some different videos and listening to these two as i do bits and bobs, i keep thinking "I wonder what Hannah's face is a doing?" and you do not disappoint Hannah!! 😂
That "pour into me" phrase is also heavily used in church, so yeah, reacultural, since cults very their basic tactics from religion and turn up the volume.
Listening to the clip 4 zoom call, I am reminded of a previous video you did about monation (spelling?) where you mentioned that the Huns are “playing CEO” (or something to that effect). Honestly, listening to them refer to eachother as “business partners” and using stereotypical corporate phrases that could be taken right out of a movie is just…sad. I’m sad for them. They think that they are some high up member of a company when they are just a pawn, and it’s honestly heartbreaking. I know that there are some predatory Huns out there, but I agree with you that so many of them are just victims and honestly think that what they are doing is a good thing.
I think by now we DO know what getting plugged into systems means. It means listening to motivational zoom calls every day and copying other huns' messages and videos.
I was curious about Kendra Scott so I looked up the facebook post you mentioned. The page replied in the comments several times, "No, there are no teams and we are not giving bonuses based on recruiting." So you don't need to get rid of your jewelry.
What's really concerning about the 'mental wellness' mlm is if their 'happy juice' is actually used to supplement medication it could lead to some very dangerous if not life threatening interactions.
It's ironic that the one hun ws talking about the average person being $400 away from an emergency and when that happens, they have to use their credit card to pay for the issue, yet that's one of the first things they'll say to a potential recruit - "Just put it on your credit card!" The contradictions are whiplash-inducing!
I totally laughed when I heard about the "21,000 network marketing companies in the world." Given the previous calculation of how many levels would exceed the population of the world by using just one team from just one MLM by finding 5 friends per level, I'm wondering how many levels would last now with this "21k MLMs" restriction. I kind of want to calculate an estimation myself, but one number I'm missing is the average number of teams per MLM (maybe someone can help throw me a number for those who have a good idea).
Even if each MLM only had one member, let alone 1 team, the population of the world would run out in three levels or less and that’s assuming some huns work more than one MLM. Goodness these people are not good with numbers, are they?
Don’t MLMers wonder why soooo many people have negative feelings toward MLMs (I was going to say “their business” , haha)? Yes, they all say the same phrases. 🙄
If my partner/ spouse was on a zoom call telling a stranger that they have to work hard to make up for the income I don’t bring in as a teacher (I am a teacher and it is a difficult job!) I’d be so angry. Especially if my spouse/ partner was “making up” that income by manipulating people or by using our money to buy ranks and products we don’t need. I couldn’t divorce from this person because I’d have to pay alimony!
I've have not fallen for any sort of MLM, but enjoy listening to your videos while I clean and do house chores. Since starting to watching/listen to your videos more regularly I have now been BOMBARDED with pro MLM commercials. It's kinda hilarious that TH-cams algorithm shows adds for the very thing you're watching an anti video for lol.
I watch these podcast style while I work from home.. I so much enjoy that I know when to look at your face bc a sentence will trigger a reaction ahaha love your channel!
The Amare (sp?) coaching call was like playing MLM Bingo. I'm halfway through it and I don’t think they've said one original thing. I could even finish some sentences for them. If I win Bingo do I get to the Double Diamond Regional Princess rank?
YAY! Just on time for dinner!🥰 Still haven’t watched but I’ll say, these are my fave type of your videos after deep dives. I LOVE your reactions, commentary & educational! Please more deep dives as well!!!😍
I don't know what MLM that 🤡 hun is in, but her Insta has a fairly recent post that says, "Because I bought it on sale, I actually made money." So... somebody doesn't understand how money works. You don't "make money" by PURCHASING SOMETHING! 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I have a theory that KS took a hit during this panini and came up with this idea to make their money back. An MLM structure adds the cushion of a guaranteed customer base from people who sign up and "wOrk tHe bUsInEsS".
The combination of closed retail stores and HIGH shipping prices has increased the appeal of this business model because you are essentially just warehousing a bunch of junk to one person and going ‘good, now just email me the profits’ but once things get back to normal they will regret it. MLMs are one of the most complicated business models with LOTS of red tape so only those with nothing to lose try it. KS has a lot to lose. This was a stupid move.
Whenever I hear the term “plugged in” when it comes to MLMs, I always think of the episode I Robot, You Jane from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. One of the characters who joins the cult of Moloch, while carving something into his arm and on the computer, keeps saying “I’m plugged in. I’m plugged in.” A lot of MLMs just scream “cult”.
Thank you for talking about Amare. Some "celebrities" that I follow on Instagram are talking about Amare and I knew that something felt hinky about it.
Yeah, that buzzword thing you talked about as a cult tactic mentioned in the BITE model? When I start realizing that someone's politics becomes more about "bumper sticker chants" rather than policy, I'm looking elsewhere.
I had a hun threaten to leave me a negative review on my bakery page (a legit small business) because I called her out in the comments on the KS Facebook page. So gross.
@@DocBree13 I know… infuriating. I blocked her and anyone else I could tell was part of her page (she had like 3 followers only). Haven’t seen one come through but I hope I’m able to get it deleted if it happens. I can easily prove she said it (screenshots) and can show she has never made a purchase from me.
I wouldn’t throw away your Kendra Scott! Perhaps regift if you really can’t stand wearing it but I don’t think having bought the jewelry before they opened this mlm arm is at all unethical or anything to feel bad about
Someone may have already mentioned this, but the phrases “pouring into” someone and “plugged in” have been very common in evangelical Christianity over the past two decades or so. Dave Ramsay was really big as well. So this is coded language for people who come from an evangelical subculture, using terms and names that people associate with people that they may respect in the church and/ or want attention from.
Dave Ramsey’s take on MLM is refreshingly honest. I’d search it on TH-cam. He basically says that success in MLM requires becoming a master recruiter, motivator, and retainer of a sales team. He stops short of saying the model is fraudulent
@UCvtyMwyocVeEE2-pP-tQMRw Didn’t know that about him. My beef is his dogmatism about debt (although I took his advice and currently have none!) Some debt is good in the right circumstances, just not the type he counsels his listeners about
Dave Ramsey pretty much supports mlms. He's Said on calls that he knows.people that have "suceeded" and that it can be good business. What he forgets to mention Is that he's friends with people that started these mlm companies and they are rich by creating a pyramid scheme
I've been passively following some of these amare huns the last few weeks - income and health claims galore!.thanks for highlighting them, I'd love to see a deep dive one day

It’s so dangerous. Like life threatening in some cases. WHY? So you can make a Commission and then tell everyone that you now have financial freedom? Don’t you think if a vitamin would solve a mental health diagnosis everyone and their mother would be taking it?
I'm bipolar as well (type one) and if I went off my meds for a week I'd probably end up yelling at strangers on the sidewalk.
The "Recruit 5 People Who Recruit 5 People" model is why extraterrestrial life is not making itself known to us.
🤣
😂😂😂
Probably wouldn't want to be recruited 😂
😂😂😂 For real!
Hahahahhahhahha this is hilarious 🤍
"Pouring into you" and "getting plugged in" come out of the Protestant Evangelical churches many of these MLM huns attend. Examples: "Get plugged in to our weekly home groups" and "Pastor Tay poured into us a great teaching yesterday."
Then I wasn't imagining both of these women using the "fundie baby voice."
Then there's me with my dirty mind💀💀💀
If a company has physical stores and online shopping, there’s literally no reason for them to start a “direct selling” portion if they’re not trying to cash in on an MLM scam…
I was in a LLR group when they released the new sweatshirts called “Amber”. The consultant decided to list all the sweatshirts with the caption “Amber Alert 🚨”. I commented how that seemed insensitive and promptly got kicked out of the group lol
Trying to make money using a ***public awareness kidnapping phrase***…I’m flabbergasted. What a sad little world she lives in.
That is incredible 😂
Reprehensible…
I love how Monat isn’t even verified on Instagram 😂 and their reps say they’re the number one hair care company in the world.
When she said "Our compensation plan is so simple! Recruit 5 people, make 500 dollars" I almost spit out my food. ZERO awareness!!
Lol right
Or completely aware and playing dumb.
@@meghansullivan6812 yeppp!! Just another money grab for her
@@meghansullivan6812 Nailed it. She can cash in on it HARD, including taking advantage of Beyonce's name recognition.
Yeah, if endra Scott wasn't adding/changing to an MLM model, instead of saying, "...with no emphasis on recruitment or building teams...." they'd say, "...with no recruitment or team building."
Also, in one of the clips at the end, one of the two women said the magic words, "attraction marketing." When they say "attraction marketing," I think that it's more likely going to be "affinity fraud."
Their reps "make" $1,000/mo... but how much did they SPEND on their mlm products?
plus, cost of health insurance, bills, food, etc etc. $1000 alone a month is nothing these days. :(
Even if they spent zero on products, $1,000 a month isn't even minimum wage! It sounds like a lot in passing, but that's $12,000 a year. Even now you can make 4 times that much working 9-5 at McDonalds! When I first started working I was making double that with health and dental AND discounted rent (worked as a leasing agent) and was considered poor in the city I lived in!
To be fair, where a lot of these people live it goes a little further than it would for many of us
“One hairstylist referenced one Monat product and all of a sudden the Kardashians now use Monat, this is Ludacris!”
Monet huns: “ Ludacris uses Monat!”
😂
underrated comment lol
This comment is beyond HILARIOUS!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
If you like the jewelry keep it! You already spent the money BEFORE they changed their business structure. I see no harm in keeping it.
Another one I’ve heard both in church circles and mlms is “love on” 🤮
Mega churches seem like the closest thing to devil worship on the planet, but I'm not religious so who am I to say idolatry and public prayer are sinful?
This company kills me. I suffer from anxiety and depression and this is truly dangerous. They’re begging for a lawsuit because someone did something awful because they went off their meds for this bs.
Love how she uses the word "crazy" in a derogatory way while peddling her "mental wellness" pyramid scheme... K 🙄
I’m an attorney and all I can think listening to the “mental wellness company” is wait until a child is harmed or causes harm because they were suffering from a mental illness and some “boss babe” told their parent to give them some supplement instead of seeking medical help. The lawsuits that will come…
It can and has happened with physical illnesses as well. watch some of hannah's horror stories vids and hear for yourself... as someone with innumerable chronic illnesses, I am so glad my mom keeps her essential oils to herself
happens all the time, the law doesn't actually help unfortunately.
Yes! Just sell it if you don’t want it, so need to throw away perfectly good Jewerly.
I’m glad you got away from that and are back on your medication! What are EO’s?

What’s so hilarious about huns holding up Dave Ramsey as an “idol” is that he specifically says that the way to make money in MLMs is to get good at recruiting people who are good at recruiting, not by selling the products. He also says it’s a big red flag if the company isn’t upfront about being and MLM. 🤣
Yes, that's soooo funny!
Sell your fancy car and buy something for $1000 that will take you from A to B" not "Get a fancy car that you can't easily pay off and will probably get you into more debt for nice IG picks"
What am I missing here?
Thanks, Hannah for always standing up for people on antidepressants or anti anxiety medicine. 💖
Watching you roll your eyes during this whole video is giving me life!!!!!
I’m surprised my eyes haven’t rolled out of my head at this point 🤣
@@HannahAlonzo I felt that! Lol!
You can buy vitamins for cheap at the grocery store!
nobody struggles with mental "wellness", im mentally UNwell that's the problem lmao. "mental illness" isn't a bad phrase
"Pouring into people" is something I heard a lot when I used to be Christian, so I think it might come from there. I've found religious people tend to say it when they want to support someone, pray for them, try to evangelize them, etc.
Not a lot of good things as being raised Catholic but one plus is I never heard that so gonna give this one to the Protestants.
I second this!
@@kateemma22 you’re absolutely right - it’s an evangelical Protestant thing
Its honestly very very creepy and intrusive. It reminds me of invasion of the body snatchers.
The "Beyonce uses Monat" falsehood reminds me of the "LipSense is the official lip color of Broadway" fiasco.
I hate how so many people act like it’s shameful to take them
I have a Mood Disorder (Type II Bipolar) and have no shame about my diagnosis or the meds I take. I'm big on destigmatizing mental illness. 🙂

@@DocBree13 Thank you!🤗
This financial one is especially puzzling.

Yup, she's as much of an expert as a beachbody coach is a coach.
The “expert” also doesn’t understand the term “residual income” yet uses it to explain the MLM multiple times… time to run, run away very fast! LOL
This is my favorite kind of news, love staying up to date without actually being in the MLM 😂

We'll never help women until we get rid of the idea that a regular job is a bad thing. I used to buy into that myth (I'm in my 50s, so staying home was more common when I married).

LMAO! They’re so brainwashed. “Their company” couldn’t care less. You’re not a partner you’re a customer, point blank period.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Gross about Kendra Scott. Why couldn't they leave well enough alone. At least those getting in now have a chance to get to the top.

Ugh a friend of mine has just gotten "certified" by the ramsey coaching thing. I was worrying it was going to be an MLM thing.
Yikes! Dave Ramsay is more of a high-control religious cult than an MLM. He's a piece of human garbage.

They are promoting a “mental health” scheme while at the same time keep throwing the word “crazy” left and right…😂😂😂
“If you think you don’t feel right there’s this medication you can be on,” said no doctor ever.
There are several mlm handbooks! 😂 It seems like they eavesdrop on each other’s zoom calls and repeat what they think sounds good!
@@kateemma22 The population of the world is 7.7 billion. Can't see Monat taking over the world
Don’t MLMers wonder why soooo many people have negative feelings toward MLMs (I was going to say “their business” , haha)? Yes, they all say the same phrases. 🙄
In my city you can’t rent a studio for 1k a month, let alone cover groceries and other essentials and raise kids 😬
The irony of this lady from a “mental health company” repeatedly using the word crazy is just astounding.
Right?! Makes me happy that these companies are wasting ad money on entirely the wrong demographic
A thief being put on Trial is claiming:
I'm not a thief, I am not a thief. I am just redistributing your wealth to me without your consent.
Purple Unicorn Suburban Ambassador Platinum.
😂
YAY! Just on time for dinner!🥰
Still haven’t watched but I’ll say, these are my fave type of your videos after deep dives. I LOVE your reactions, commentary & educational! Please more deep dives as well!!!😍
ah yes dave ramsey. the guy who fires people for being pregnant.
Fundie Friday on TH-cam did a deep dive on him .
Really?! 👀
I don't know what MLM that 🤡 hun is in, but her Insta has a fairly recent post that says, "Because I bought it on sale, I actually made money." So... somebody doesn't understand how money works. You don't "make money" by PURCHASING SOMETHING! 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
What’s so ironic about this is that this is literally the LEAST direct way to sell.
The fact that I get ads from MLMs during your videos makes me laugh every time
Yeah, that buzzword thing you talked about as a cult tactic mentioned in the BITE model? When I start realizing that someone's politics becomes more about "bumper sticker chants" rather than policy, I'm looking elsewhere.
I had a hun threaten to leave me a negative review on my bakery page (a legit small business) because I called her out in the comments on the KS Facebook page. So gross.
BUT THEY SUPPORT WOMEN AND SMALL BUSINESSES! lol they’re such clowns.
🤦🏽♀️ unbelievable! How unethical!
So you can call her out but she can't respond? I hate MLMs but you're a hypocrite.
@@ashhh987I dont even understand your outrage here.
I wouldn’t throw away your Kendra Scott! Perhaps regift if you really can’t stand wearing it but I don’t think having bought the jewelry before they opened this mlm arm is at all unethical or anything to feel bad about
Yes! I get most of my KS on poshmark :D
I will look into it!
Dave Ramsey is a scammer and *does* think MLMs can work for some people if they “do the work”. Why are you defending him?
@@anon8068 Because he is very clear that "the work" is recruiting and training people in a high-turnover environment. Which is pretty accurate.
I've been passively following some of these amare huns the last few weeks - income and health claims galore!.thanks for highlighting them, I'd love to see a deep dive one day
