    I'm so glad that Swindon, England is outside the top 10 most hated towns in the UK and so are at least Bracknell, England etc.

    I really don't know how seriously I can take this. We start with somewhere in Wales no one has ever heard of, but we're expected to believe it's one of the 10 most hated in the UK? "It's hated because it's hated" seems to be the criteria used for most of them.

      Never heard of Ryle? go back to school and listen in your geography lesson.

      @@susancraybould3919 Isuggest that you read what Mr Tupolev said, again. He stated " we start with somewhere in Wales no one has ever heard of ". If you watch it again, you will see that he is referring to Llangefni - not Rhyl ( spelt ' Rhyl' , not 'Ryle' ). So my advise to you, before you tell others to " listen in their geography lesson " is : 1. listen properly to the information being imparted. 2. Learn how to spell : the town to which you refer is spelt 'Rhyl', not ' Ryle'. 3. Realise that you are not that smart, go back to school yourself and learn some humility.

    I enjoyed my visit to Dover (#2). It was a little noisy at night (but it was a weekend) and there was a chap shouting and swearing while climbing on a beach shelter at 6am, but the walks over the National Trust White Cliffs were most enjoyable.

    Having lived in Didcot for 25 years, including commuting by rail, I don't recognise "aggressive", or " touts and gangs". It's certainly not pretty, just an average town, it's not hated, but I don't suppose that any of the others are either.

      Yeah Didcot is a fine place to live, the main complaint would be bad traffic and that fact you need a car to get around most of the time (provided you don’t have access to a bus stop). Pretty standard to be honest.

    Slough is a weird one. It's not a sh-thole per se and it's very conveniently located for London, but it just _feels_ bleak, sad, depressing etc. I didn't believe or appreciate it until I had to go there on a work commitment - even the automated announcement on the train from London dropped an octave and sounded depressed when it mentioned Slough.
    It doesn't help that large parts of West London aren't very nice either, so all you see from the train is various crappy places.

    I live near Luton and certain parts of it are a dump.I know a police officer who won't allow his teenage daughters to visit the Arndale Centre,even if he accompanies them.( remember Rochdale,Rotherham and so on)
    We first moved here in 1979 when the shopping centre was mostly used by smartly dressed, polite,well behaved people.Unfortunately 40 years of unchecked immigration has meant the more ambitious all moved out in disgust. The result is a mess of different people and most of them don't make an attempt at integrating into our ways.Parts of it are nice,but suffer from being close to the flight path of Luton Airport.

    If you ignore the endless brexit truck jams and some of the grottier housing estates, Dover's alright, there's plenty of nice things to see and do in the town (one of the best historic castles in the UK, for example); some nice parks (like Kearsney Abbey and the lakes) it's got a safe swimming beach, it's got amazing clifftop walks with great views over to France and even a reasonable selection of shops in the town centre and excellent public transport links. There are a lot worse places in Britain than Dover, believe me!

    Even more ridiculous than the "Most Loved Towns" list, which included such tedious places as Wilmslow and Altrincham. I wouldn't argue with such "usual suspects" as Luton and Rhyl, and I don't know Gravesend, but I don't recognise Llangefni, Didcot or Aylesbury from the descriptions. Paisley is effectively a Glasgow suburb, so looks to that city for things to do.
    Llangefni only has 5000 people, for chrissake, so it's not going to have buzzing nightlife. Didcot is looked down on by the snobs in the rest of Oxon and Berks because it's working class, but I've waited ages at the station and not been approached by muggers, beggars or the like. Aylesbury is quite historic. These towns may be a bit dull, but I'd rather live in any of them rather than the endless suburban tedium of Wilmslow or Altrincham.

    • @jamesmorris3123
      @jamesmorris3123 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Gravesend has always been a dismal area for many years. It's name was derived from the Great Plague where thousands of the dead were buried there from London, hence Graves end. Also Princess Pocahontas is buried there.
      And how come Croydon wasn't included, that town tops my list as dodgy, full of immigrants, and remember that African who burnt down that very old furniture shop? why did he do that?

    • @frglee
      @frglee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd take all these places being 'the worst' with a large pinch of salt. I remember back in the 90s, Hythe, a small, rather pretty and inoffensive little town in Kent getting the 'worst place to live in Britain' sobriquet after a public survey. Probably the exact opposite is nearer the truth. I suspect local schoolkids had voted en masse to disrupt the survey!

      Holyhead is my mother's hometown and as a child I enjoyed our regular visits there but sadly it has indeed slipped into a sad and depressing place. I think the burghers missed a trick as it did have potential to become a fine holiday destination if marketed well. It also suffered when the new ferry port came into being as travellers to/from Ireland no longer visit the town in the numbers they once did.

      Your complaint seems to derive from demographics/ immigration which tells us all we need to know.
      The suburbs of Coventry are great places to live and, while the city centre is small and not the best place for shopping, it's improved immeasurably over the last decade and is now home to one of the best universities in the UK and loads of great places to eat and visit. Tons of history in and around the cathedral area of town, in particular.
      The precinct still needs a bit of work but other than that I see a huge improvement (compared to when I lived there) each time I visit.

    Who exactly is the "We" in this study, the uploader and his mother? What study and its criteria was used for rating these "hated" towns. I hardly think Llangefni rates as "no. 10 in the most hated towns in the UK." Admittedly it's an unremarkable town, but its located in lovely countryside, the delightful Red Wharf bay is within walking distance, it has its own nature reserve, crime is low and its quiet. Nearly everyone who lives on Anglesey would rate Holyhead as the worst town on that island. Admittedly Rhyl is a dive, but hardly No. 3 in the UK. Why are dives like Strood, Whitstable, Cleveland, Hull, Blackpool, Jaywick, Burnley, Blackburn, Bradford, Grimsby, Lowestoft, Barrow-In-Furness, ... on this list? The highest level of crime I personally experienced, plus friends of mine, was when I lived in Yeovil.

      In English, we start our sentences with a capital letter. We also use punctuation, such as commas to indicate a pause or emphasis. And it would be non-white, not non white. Lastly, the word “most” doesn’t really fit where you’ve used it.
      You should have written
      “The more non-white, the more they are hated by me.”
      But as with most racists (intersecting interestingly with self professed patriots), your grasp of your native language is so poor: it’s embarrassing.

      I lived in Ipswich for nine years. It feels like Monte Carlo compared to some of the absolute dregs on this list - and I have been to half of these places.
      The main problem with Ipswich is that it does occasionally get dull and a bit repetitive, the town centre needs better shops, and more interesting places can be an expensive ballache to get to. But it's certainly not a bad town at all. Good people who try very hard and there's plenty happening if you know where to look. I'd say it got better during the time I lived there.
      Thetford, King's Lynn, Haverhill, Great Yarmouth - those are shiteholes. And while not a complete dump, Chelmsford is sterile (feels like it grew up too fast?) and less interesting than black-and-white slides of paint drying.
