It seemed there was several special effects shots and models that weren't used that could've been used to space out the repetitive effects on Battlestar Galactica and Galactica 1980.

Eventually Baltar was captured by the colonials and then released and marooned on a world after helping them to destroy a base star in the final episode.

In the theatrical version, Imperious Leader has been replaced in the "big seat" by Baltar, at the very end. BTW, the theatrical version was released AFTER Galactica was *canceled*.

The original Battle Star Galactica from 1978 to me was a classic I didn’t care for the 1980s short series and I’ve never really watched much of the reboot from the 1990s it was too dark
In my opinion, the 2004 BSG reboot was brilliant: no more triumphant modernism like Star Trek, the Next Generation. Bear McCreary's compositions were excellent too.
I do have great love and respect for the original. I WAS appalled by Galactica 1980 - and yes Doctor Z was an abomination. They could have and should have done something different. Now as to the reboot my opinion is that the whole was less than the sum of its parts (and oh, Six's parts) - it had some fabulous moments for me but overall it failed to grab me and I'll always wish they had gone with my idea ... the reason why the Colonists can't tell a Cylon Infiltrator from themselves is that THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE, THEY'RE ALL CYLONS - the real Colonists had escaped thousands of years ago and the machines in an effort to understand were recreating the events, over and over again, incidently perfecting their Infiltration units.
This is the theatrical version of "Galactica 1980", containing re-edited footage from the episodes "Galactica discovers Earth, Part 1 & 2", "The Night the Cylons landed, Part 1 & 2" and some footage from Season One's Episode "The young Warriors"
@@DotwinMA The release in the US I think was identical. I used to have this on VHS. I think I saw it ONCE in the 15 or so years I owned that tape! I was never a huge fan of Galactica 1980.

I know in the US some Episodes of the orginal Series were new re-edited to Telemovies. only three of them were released in Europe for theatrical screening in local cinemas. "Conquest of the Earth" is one of them. The others are the theatrical version of the Pilot "Saga of a Star World" and "Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack"
I have to admit that the Nova-class Battlestar is my favorite class of Battlestar. Though, I will also admit that the Columbia-class and Mercury-class is also my favorites as well.
The movie was only available on VHS. It was cobbled together from the parts of the first 3 episodes and the episode The Night The Cylons Landed. I plan on uploading it once I find my copy of it so stay tuned for that if all goes well.

A role that John Colicos revived in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Commander Kor became known as Kor, the Da'har Master. His appearance was in several episodes; "Blood Oath", where he, two other Klingons and Curson Dax went after a fugitive from justice; "The Sword of Kahliss", where he and Dax and Worf quested for the legendary sword of a mythic Klingon; "Once More, Unto the Breach", where Kor fends off a Jem'hadar fleet alone to save a Klingon fleet from destruction.
They could've made an episode showing Baltar being picked up by Cylons with said short range communications only to be executed. That would've made for an interesting show
The original Galactica was a massive flagship Battlestar well over one nautical mile in length. The new Galactica was a small, outdated dinosaur with one functional landing bay, a slap in the face to the original majestic vessel. What were they thinking.
The Patrick Stuart of this show plays the "Einstein"-like teenager Z, taking over the part started in the first series by Robbie Rist. It IS kinda awesome hearing this in German.
I believe it's the raider Baltar arrived on the Galactica in which was later used by Apollo and Starbuck to infiltrate a cylon baseship during an episode called Hand Of God. 🤖
Because he rejoined the Cylons? It was never really explained how one can assume that after Adama "marooned" him on a planet in the episode, Hand of God that the Cylons found him.
Galactica 1980 is an Abomination. What they should have done is an animated series based on the first season for Saturday morning cartoons. Kind of like Star Trek did after it went off the air. While the second season of Star Trek was very strong the third season of that show was ruined as well. The networks don't have a clue when it comes to science fiction. Never have and never will.
According to sources, Baltar was sentenced to death, but a last moment reprieve from another Cylon Administrator saved his life, and he was given command of a base star to hunt down the Galactica Fleet. It was then that Baltar was paired with a an Admisitrator named Lucifer (voiced by Jonathan Harris, Dr Smith of "Lost in Space"), who together are tasked with wiping out the last of the humans.

And this is the opening sequence of that theatrical version with german title.
Gute Frage!

This one from 1980 is a re-edited version of the three-part episode "Galactica Discovers Earth" and "The Night the Cylons landed" from Galactica 1980, with the addition of several scenes with Baltar, Lucifer and Spectre from the first series episode "The Young Lords" which were overdubbed with new dialogue.
The thing that amazes me is the models. These dozens of handmade intricate models that they would film on live sets.
