How names are written in any language depends upon how one hears and knows each of the languages concerned, especially when going between one language and another. There's no right or wrong way to write names. So it's best not to nitpick over such minor things that don't make any difference one way or another.

@@GiganticMythicalSpaceFishWhale if you know anything about either of these two languages, than you know there are letters in Arabic that just aren't in English. Thus, one picks the closest sounding equivalent to said letter. Also, depending upon where someone is from adds to how they were taught Arabic. I once had a Pakistani person tell me there is no "d" letter in Arabic, but there's 2: dahl (د) and dawd (ض). Right there will be a problem if they don't pronounce the letters properly. But I know they're taught according to whatever the rules and regulations are of their own country's education system. I'm not an Arab, nor am I Pakistani. So why would they listen to me in reference to correcting them? Look, I know you're trying to make sure the names are not just spoken correctly, especially those from the Qur'an, but leave it to the child's parents. As long as they do their Islamic duty and pick a good name for their child, don't nitpick about something that's based purely on interpretation. There are other, more important discussions to have regarding the ummah (like Palestine or Kashmere). Maa salama.
