the trick to using die inks like these is to hold the stamp down on the paper for a few seconds, not tap and lift off the paper immediately as I suspect you were doing. I used to make this mistake too before I paid more attention to what others were doing. You'll find you get a much better image and no patchy 'pad image'. (Sorry to sound like I'm lecturing you, I'm really not, but I love Simon's inks and if you stamp and hold you'll get a much better image.)
I love Simon's products. I recently purchased a stamp set and a couple of ink pads. I love them! I have followed Simon's journey. I actually was his 5th YT subbie..lol way back when. He is awesome, the next Tim Holtz I tell him...lol Love your channel too..And your hair. Hugs and purrs

I have all the new ink colors and I have to say, they are the last I reach for out of my ink collection. They seem....I don't know...dry.

I agree. I just purchased the whole set of 22 pads and felt they were very dry and I was disappointed when I ordered these that the reinkers were out of stock.
I'm afraid these inks are not something I would purchase. I do feel it took too much effort to blend these, not to say you didn't give it a heck of a try. I so appreciate your showing us so many new products. Like most people there are some I love, some I like and some I just don't care for. Thanks so much for all you do!!

Thank you for your thorough review, I find it very useful. I have a question, though. Is there any difference between these ink pads and the "Make art" ones, other than the hues? and the dylusions? I wouldn't like to purchase them and find out they are exactly the same thing. Thanks!
I’m happy for Simon, but am curious, what’s the difference between his inks and Catherine Pooler; Tim Holtz; SSS, Hero Arts, Brutus Monroe...etc? It’s great he’s young and branching out, but I’m concerned with all the infringement battles going on.... are his any different? I love his passion..... but why would a consumer choose his over others? I want him to succeed..... but for a new crafter it would be confusing on what to choose. I personally see not much a difference. I feel bad.... he deserves a shot! But it’s just more of what we already have. I feel like a horrible person!

I think it’s all in who you want to support and what you can afford. To be honest, I don’t know what all the hype is about distress inks. I have some.., I really don’t use them, I use my memento inks more often.
As I said in the video they are a nice ink; but thats all i really could say. They werent amazing or radical. We will do inktoberfest again this year going through more types of ink the differences etc. Last years posts are still there in the playlist with lots of info we did a different type of ink every day. I love my oxides i probably use those the most in colored ink.

Could you do a comparison video with distress inks and simon hurley inks? Colors, behavior...Would be great... because I can't decide if it's worth it to include them in my collection because there are so many colors in the distress collection already...
Distress inks the regular ones are not meant for stamping the ones for stamping are the distress oxides they are definitely worth buying I have almost all of them
@@laurasutton1551 I also have many of the distress oxides collection. My question was if Simons colors which seem to behave similary are totally different colors...or if I would have color doubles if i would buy them

I'm pretty new to these inks, but I'm not a huge fan of the pads, although I love the actual inks. Those edges are pretty problematic, IMO.
A sticky sheet would have been helpful! BTW. Every time I comment to a TH-cam and someone responds it goes into that Gmail account that I never look at . . . so I just found a whole bunch of emails I was unaware of... that is a really large detailed Stamp 😲 WOW! Good job stamping that! Of course I’m presuming that was your first try and not your tenth. LOL

these products are worth every penny. It is not Simons fault that you don’t know how to craft. You’re just jealous of his success and you need to use the products for more than 5 mins
