    I must have watched your video on inline editing 1000 times in the past week trying to understand the process and implement that into the shopping cart example as shown in this video. I was just about to give up, but today I had a breakthrough!! I have finally managed to get this to work. Thank you for sharing these videos, you have been a great help and I have learned so much from watching them.

    This is awesome!. Just what I needed for our office supply inventory. We track who ordered, what, when and will add one more element of how much is on hand after order. Also setting up to where when a quantity hits a certain number, it will send an alert and highlight the item in SharePoint that supply is low!!!!!!

    Hi yet again Shane.... A funny little problem (not affecting operation of app) has popped up and I'm not sure where the issue has arrived from. Doing this cart application. I have the master list and the details list. In the details list I have a column that everywhere I look it is called ItemQty. Its a number field and works fine. However when I try to pull the data from this list its referred to as "Date" in flow and power BI. Any ideas how that name changed? Did I bury something in the app somehow? In the SP settings for the list the name is shows as ItemQty as well. I appreciate this is probably hard to understand. I can email you some screen shots if you want. Its got me stumped but am hesitant to add a new ItemQty column in the SP list and dump the old one as I'm sure I'll break it and that will be quite depressing... (crying emoji inserted here)

      @@ShanesCows Dammit.... I must have done this when I started the list. I created a new column and moved the various parts of the form to the new column. I found another one too after reviewing all the columns on all the lists I am using. Details, details, details eh. Thanks for the hover tip. Now I just have to figure out how to get the two tables merged using the master id into a new list... (I wish that MS would build a "relationships building pop up screen" in Flow, like in Access/PowerBI etc so that in flow you could drag and drop and create relationships)

    Hi Shane, I'm really new to powerapps, and have created an order app from watching this video. One thing, and I don't know if it's possible, but if you have multiple items which you've ordered, when you push it back to SharePoint it creates separate list items for each item ordered. Is there a way to just create one SharePoint list item which show all the order items for that one order>

      Hey Claire. Yes, but I don't follow exactly how you are doing it. You could use Concat function to combine the values in the collection. Or maybe use this concept to create relationships? th-cam.com/video/xgznk4XlPCo/w-d-xo.html

    I also am wondering about having a link off of your details screen that allows the user to select more options (each with their own costs) that would update the shopping cart total. I guess for your example it could be a screen that let's them select a logo if they want (bumps up the price $10) or if they wanted the material to be a different kind it would bump the price up or down. Do you have a video that covers something along those lines?

    Hi Shane... I have a list that I'm trying to use with the cart gallery. Instead of the icon I want to use the image that I have added for each item in a column called ItemImage (image type column). When I add an image control to the gallery item and pull the only image related thing I can find (called Thumbnail instead of my ItemImage column) it returns "text" as a result. Any idea how to get the actual thumbnail image that shows in Sharepoint?

    • @tonykuiper9127
      @tonykuiper9127 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK... so a LOT of searching and I ended up needing to create another text column (multi line) and paste the Base64 data for the image (meaning converting all the images). So now it works fine. Its a strange way of doing it given that SP renders a nice thumbnail itself.

    Hi Shane, is there a way to write the order details back to the SharePoint list, I get that you could do a collection or patch to a SharePoint list, but how do you configure your list in the first place as you would have to add, at a minimum a column per order item and that would be if you concatenated all the individual items together per gallery item, but potentially a customer could order 100 items! Would you have to pre create all these columns just in case? As if so 99% of the time all but a few will be blank!
    Is there not a way to write a collection, table or gallery to a single record in a list? If so, how?
    If not, how would you get around ensuring your list is large enough to career for large orders? Would you maybe do 5 columns and have a maximum order qty per each order an the user would have to place several orders!?
    Thoughts please!?
    Ps. Great video as always!

However, we are having difficulties in getting the app to write the exact number of orders of each item back to the sharepoint list. So that if a person wants for example 2 hamburgers, 3 salads and 4 cupcakes, the SharePoint List only returns the first item and not the rest. We need to make the app return the items ordered and the number of items ordered, not just the first one but all of them. Do you have an answer to how we can fix this?

    Hello Shane great video. I want to implement this but one drawback is that i want to create a new list which will contain the order details for each order. The way i see it is to dynamically create a new list with the name of the customer and the date/time with the order details each time the submit button is pressed. Do you think this is possible? Thank you for sharing your expertise with us.

    What if I want a blue long-sleeve shirt :) Another good video from you. I am in the midst of writing a Power App that is using a number of SharePoint lookup columns that are giving me issues and fits and I have to find a work around for them. And using the RTF text boxes in Power Apps (editing) I wish did work too. Sadly not yet.

    • @ShanesCows
      @ShanesCows  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. Look up columns and PowerApps just are not BFFs. :) Do you have to have them? Could you rework your SharePoint data and maintain the connections with PowerApps instead?

    • @guyinazo
      @guyinazo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do use variables at times as a "work around". In my apps I do use the Office365Connection quite a bit and those lookups to the AD are a pain when trying to save back to a SP list. They are better now that Power Apps uses the "Choice" fields. On a separate topic, would you do a video covering Common Data Service and the big update coming to Power Apps using Model Driven apps versus using the Canvas?

  • @michaelk1991
    @michaelk1991 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You probably already know this but here is super simple way to get your images loaded automatically. Step 1 create a picture library. Step 2. Add a picture column to your t-shirts list in SP. Step 3. copy link from each image in the pic library and add it to the picture column in the t-shirt list. Now when you select "Image, title, and sub title" as your layout and then PowerApps does the rest.

    • @michaelk1991
