Everything it used to be is still there, so definitely a revival on this awesome 56, it deserves it...If restorable, revive the existing 427/440 and the huge mystery carb...How cool if you can get this rig back down in the 9's where it deserves to be...Well done Gnarly Team!!!
Danny & Olivia, SoCal Pro Gas started off a 9.60 heads up pro tree group that raced off a .4 tenths pro tree. It was started at OCIR in '78 before NHRA introduced it as Super Gas with a 9.90 index class to replace Modified Eliminator.
That is the same shifter I had in my nova in 1978 that was called a quarter stick ratchet shifted I'd put a 4 speed back in it with a tunnel ram and drive it on the street as my daily. Just clean it up no fresh paint just like it is raw and in your face yall got a great car I'm jealous yall are so lucky to find that car. I hope yall enjoy it . When are we going to see some more chevelle content?
Man! That is one good lookin '56. I love the color, the way the hardtop swoops down & No Rust! Hell yeah! just clean & polish baby! Those Cragars are sweet!👌 Dominator carbs were "the shit" back in the day. So cool! 😎👍 I think Olivia might just kick ole Run Runners Azz! Look Out Danny, She'z comin ta Getcha!! Olivia'z got a 9 second Chevy Baby! We want to see you guys race each other to see "Who's the Gnarliest!" 😂😂 Oh, maybe name it "Wong" in honor of the original owner..😉
Sweet 56! If it was mine I'd go for some vintage race decals, some distressed hand painted lettering and a refresh of the motor. You should restore the trailer in a separate video series.
Same thought, restore the trailer! Nylon rope for the winsch! And give the car a thorough clean and careful resto, although there are enough patina dragrace cars as is.
210 hardtop is pretty rare. Crocus yellow and black is my favorite 56 color combo. Fabcraft and mark Williams makes parts for those olds/pontiac 9.3 rear ends. They are a great rear.
Oh, heak yeah. It would have been very hard for me not to spill the beans in that ride. It's so cool to know some of the race history. 🏁 I'm excited to here it fire up
Great find.. It might not take That much money to make it run.. ( my suggestion ).. Pull the engine and trans.. Pull them apart.. See what they need.. Slap it back together.. Make it run.. ( and be safe ) .. Who knows ... It might not need that much to get it to Run and Go... THEN.. you can make all the improvements you want .. and YES.. ( Liv needs to drive it )
Dude and Dudette... that pro°gas class now is ummm not like that 56😂 but they do pay homage to the old beautiful cars of old.!¡ I'm so glad I found you guys. As an old dude from Phenix city Alabama. I can do some California Dreaming though y'all!!! Ok BE Blessed and thanks for taking us along for the Ride!!!
I have the same shifter in my chevelle. I bought it at a swap meet back in the early 80's. It is a B&M Quick Click. It has worked flawlessly for all of these years.
I love watching your shows! You are living my dream that's for sure. Keep them coming, they are so much fun to watch and they are all so real. I knew a guy named Richard Phalen who had a '27 Chevy Pro Gas he raced at Fontana about twenty-five years ago.
I don't know what CFM the the Dominator is but the 4500 series carb is a 800 CFM Pro Race Series Holley Double pump Carburetor, I have one on my 72 old school Nova from the early 90s...
Man I love this one!! Be so cool to get what's there running and take it down the track! My 57 210 hardtop was a straight axle gasser from 1965 - 1985, wish I could find some pics when it was raced.
Wow what a great video, that is one awesome 56 ,definitely restore it to it's original race life , it would be awesome to see it running down the strip again, lots of love from pa ❤❤❤
57 Pontiac differential they bolt right in , the stock axles are the week point, and posi Trac units use to be hard to find, my dad runs one in his 55, he use air shocks with separate air fill for each side. If you get the right air pressure combination for each side both wheels will spin
Excellent work as always! I'd say that clutch pedal and shifter So Smooth is because of having a high spring count on the drive hub! Installed a new Clutch in my 6 speed mopar truck. It was really light feel, felt Odd! Think it might have been similar to how you felt with yours. Good episode, Cars sounded great!Dukes sitting low putting in work, think airbags would be cool!
I just went through the same dilemma with a 1964 Chevy C10 short bed stepside taken from a Kansas farm. My daughter wouldn’t let me shine anything. Just clean off the dirt and leave the patina. I did get to built a clean LT1 motor for it though.
Hey that 427 probably has a roller cam in it because that distributor has a bronze gear on it and that looks like a 1150 carb with those tubes on it so you probably have a hellified big block with lots of RPM capabilities
The carb looks like an original holley 1050 cfm dominator from the early 70s..you can tell by the raised air horns that look like small velocity stacks. That's probably worth some money all cleaned up.
My first car was a '55 210 that I bought for $500 in 1966, my senior year. The guy who owned it before had put a Corvette 283, 4 barrel, and dual exhausts in it. The transmission was a 3 speed on the floor. I really miss that car. It was pretty much the same color as your new gasser, but not as shiny, heh.
The first carb you picked up was not small, it's a 800cfm double pumper. Even tho got nothing on a dominator. Very cool car and would be amazing to get running too.
We had decent camera's in the 80's SLR's but many people did not have them -they just went to the drags -saw the cars and went home -that is a neat drag car-I was born in 56-Gasser would have jacked up suspension-etc.
That's a bad ass car. Would love to see it cleaned up. Fresh tires, get it running on the current setup, and take it down the track. That's what it was built for. I got a 40 pontiac that at one point in it's life it had been a drag car. It's been in my family for 33 years. My dad is too afraid to take it down the track. But I would love to do it at least once to see what it would do. It has a pontiac 421 with 3 dueces and a 4-speed manual trans. We run it on 91 ethanol free pump gas. But the engine definitely wants higher octane and more timing to run at its full potential.
Danny and Olivia boy. Does that car bring back memories. When I started racing i had a sipsioon belt like that. You should bring the pro gas 56 back to racig form. To race it you will have to do a lot of safety upgrades. You guys could start your own showroom. Good luck guys. Thanks.
That Holly Dominator I'm positive it's 11:50 I had a brand new one in 19 77 brand new for $200 think about that for a minute wow that was cheap but back then it was a lot I made a beer can air cleaner with tall boys it fits right in that Dominator perfect have a great day thanks to the video
Once upon a time what you guy's are referring to as slapper bars in my time we called the traction bars 😂😂😂 its amazing how things are called different things in different times 😂😂😂 love your content and everything you do rum runner turned out really beautiful you both compliment each other on strength and weaknesses in everything you do
Great cars guys! And just to let you all know, when ever to keep the tow cable from flying back at ya, put a towel on the cable, and it won't fly back, it will just drop down safety. And then get a couple of large blocks from rolling to far.😅
Y'all's car collection is pretty impressive I've got a few also but I'm 58 y/o by the time you get my age 😮 .. I've had to sell a few off because sht happens in life i hope y'all will be able to hang on to all of them and save more of these time capsules...
This is going to be another epic series!! I would get it running then upgrade suspension, trans, rear end with a fresh rebuild on the motor.

Keep it as close to as-is while making it run again (safely). I wouldn't change the appearance at all except for cleaning it up. Perfect for nostalgia drags.
That trailer appears to be an old RV trailer the center box section may have held a water or sewer tank at one time. A lot of people converted old RV trailers into car haulers / farm trailers in the 80's
Nice ride looks like it has a lot of meat to offer! That trailer tongue shape is to haul times, rears on the corners, fronts on the bars. Center bracket would most likely be for toolbox and parts storage.
If you had a fuel cell in the trunk in HRA made you run a firewall but if you ran the factory gas tank up under the car you didn't have to have a firewall...
That picture of you filming with the station wagon pool in the newer car on the trailer that's what you would have seen going into lions or Bakersfield or irwindale something like that back in the 60s that is so cool
Stunning 56! Great to see almost all of your other 56's together in that parking lot too 😍👌 for me i love the blue and the cragars i would restore it back to how it was last used keeping everything as it is or as close to and keep some of the patina, here in the UK we have a Nostalgia drags class which uses very period upgrades of the time etc (a good example is when Danny mentioned the Buick,Olds, Pontiac rear end as a period upgrade of the time) so this would fit perfectly! 😎🤘 keep up the good work guys keep it gnarly!!
Hello. I’m new to your channel but have enjoyed everything I’ve watched so far. The 56’s are my favorite tri-5 too! Good luck with your new project. Gas "gasser" class means it had to run on gasoline, didn't matter if it was gas out of a pump or out of a drum as long as it was gasoline. Also the octane of pump gas was much higher in the 60's, as an example ethyl was around 109 octane.
It looks like you have a Turbo 400 trans. And the huge carburetor is a Dominator. If I remember correctly they start with a 950 cfm and goes up 1250. Anyway, can't wait to see your next video on your 56.
Pretty sure it's a 210. 150s were all sedans while the 210s and BelAirs were available as a hardtop and sedan. Got my son a 56 210 for our father/son project a few years ago. Same shade of blue but with yellow and orange flames. Wish I could comment pics. 348 W series big block is getting stroked to 427 and we're going dual quad Snipers.
Hope you all do it right back to history very cool same time my Dad was reading down there guna fun to see it come back ok you too have a beautiful week later ❤👌🏁😎 nice1150 carburetor got their girl
Straight axle…maybe…??😊 I’m sure y’all would like to keep it original though. I’ve got a ‘55 hardtop gasser with an A-model front axle, tilt front cap, 331ci, Hightower 4-speed, Ram clutch, etc. I know y’all will have fun with this one!
Back in the day they were called traction bars. It looks to me like it would have ran with the dual quads in a B gas category. There was also a A gas category. Most likely it ran in the 9.90 index class. The carb looks like a 1050 dominator. It could be bigger, the rear end if it ain't broke don't fix it😅just kiding, nice find. With those big slicks and center lines. It might have 4:88 gears 👍
That carburetor looks like a old 3 barrel which is a great big block carb also with the right cam a 427 loves a tunnel ram because a big block with rectangle port heads flow so good they beg for a tunnel ram, that with a 4 speed in that car then you got a hot rod.
I thought you guys liked old school and Olivia wants to put out the Olds rear for a Moser? Also those are called traction bars. Leave them on. I would drive it the way it is but make it safe for the street. Just my two sense. Love it .
They're called traction bars they used them back in the day on the Camaros anything with leaf springs they put them on there so you didn't get no wheel hop they locked against the front of the spring and stop the wheel hub

Thank you Gary for the little history lesson! Much appreciated 🙏
It's a 9.90 class
You guys, that beast was made for one thing and only one thing! Kicking ass 1/4 Mike at a time! Let's make it happen!
That is the same shifter I had in my nova in 1978 that was called a quarter stick ratchet shifted I'd put a 4 speed back in it with a tunnel ram and drive it on the street as my daily. Olivia, I think I remember you saying you were partial to a '56 post car but you gotta love that hardtop!!! And I think you do!!!
Sweet 56! If it was mine I'd go for some vintage race decals, some distressed hand painted lettering and a refresh of the motor. You should restore the trailer in a separate video series.
Same thought, restore the trailer! Nylon rope for the winsch!

You got your work cut out for you! Though it’s still cool!
Absolutely get that running and runner down the track!
Keep that 9.3 Olds/Pontiac rear end in that car. It’s indestructible !
Please keep it Old Skool. Kool 56 !
Looks like an old Edelbrock C-454 intake with the dominater flange. That is a sweet time capsule.
That 56 is a ton of badassery 👍👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣🤣
That beauty is a beauty 👍❤️☺️❗️that car is made for Olivia she fits in the drivers seat perfectly 👌
That vintage Dominator is so cool. I would guess it's a 1050
VINTAGE 1050 DOMINATOR CARB.. WICKED!!!! You know that car ran Deep 10's & High 9s
This lady always comes off with class and beauty. I have seen nothing so far to question that.
Looks like a power-glide trans back in the 70's they ran a lot power-glides. With good racing bands they were the answer.
Slip & Slide Power-Glide!!
210 hardtop is pretty rare. Crocus yellow and black is my favorite 56 color combo. Fabcraft and mark Williams makes parts for those olds/pontiac 9.3 rear ends. They are a great rear.
Definitely you have to do a revival and get it going with as many original parts as possible.
Oh, heak yeah. It would have been very hard for me not to spill the beans in that ride. It's so cool to know some of the race history. 🏁 I'm excited to here it fire up

That's the best one to me .I would clean it up and get that bad boy on the track
Cragars look Great for the street!
You need a ‘56 drag Chevy. Already has a 427 and a roll bar and traction bars!
I wood definitely restore it too it's early race days
Nice car
You two are so funny
He’s afraid of Spiders and she’s afraid of everything else.
i'd love that car to bring back to full drap ready, it would be a fun and nostolgic project
Love the Cragars
Still my favorite wheel for a classic.

What an awesome purchase and it is like a time capsule. Glad you guys were able to get it as it now has a good home.
Olivia’s vintage race part knowledge is impressive for a young person. This will be a cool project to watch.
Y’all love those old cars, love y’all!
Whoa! Tri5 heaven! Duke is magnificent!!! They all are but wow! My dream cars!

Very cool 56 have fun with it! Race Car !! Don’t listen to the haters do your thing it looks like you two are having a great time together!❤
when I was young I owned 69 Z and 68 440 charger at the same time , those were some good ol' days..
Can’t wait to see the build
I'm excited to see alot more of this car. Please take me to the races 🙏. TKS for sharing.
Hi I think you should restore the 56 as close as you can enjoy your show stay safe have fun
Very nice! I vote to restore as close to its original former glory!
Please keep it Old Skool. Kool 56 ! this would be awesome to see you guys bring it back to life.
Thanks for the intel about the muffler guy. I got in touch and will be ordering the same ones but with 3" diameter.
Regards from Ody Slim
Danny and Olivia boy. Does that car bring back memories. When I started racing i had a sipsioon belt like that. You should bring the pro gas 56 back to racig form. To race it you will have to do a lot of safety upgrades. You guys could start your own showroom. Good luck guys. Thanks.

That's totally rad! I would restore it to a nice street car again. I like the blue.
Great cars guys! And just to let you all know, when ever to keep the tow cable from flying back at ya, put a towel on the cable, and it won't fly back, it will just drop down safety. And then get a couple of large blocks from rolling to far.😅
Restore it to Race again, very cooool Old School Hot Rod. Love it 👍

Another thing is it looks like it had a brass distributor gear on it which means it's probably got a solid roller camshaft in it
That picture of you filming with the station wagon pool in the newer car on the trailer that's what you would have seen going into lions or Bakersfield or irwindale something like that back in the 60s that is so cool
Dang y’all anyway, hot rods for days!!😀 Anxious to see this one come along!👍
Yeah its old school. Very common for hard tops back then. Needs some up grades for sure 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎
Awesome new project💯 hope to see it racing soon💪✌️
Hello. I’m new to your channel but have enjoyed everything I’ve watched so far. The 56’s are my favorite tri-5 too! Good luck with your new project. I think you’re on the right track especially considering the historic prominence you’ve found. I would not do any major work to this car. Just refresh the car to make it usable and double check all the safety issues.
Most of all, have fun!
-Chuck
Love the tri 5’s The 1956 is sweet. Enjoy!
💯👍✝️💕
looks like 55 front fenders just my guess..look the team got a real race car..have fun and enjoy..love the tri fives since the sixties..
Gas "gasser" class means it had to run on gasoline, didn't matter if it was gas out of a pump or out of a drum as long as it was gasoline.
Also the octane of pump gas was much higher in the 60's, as an example ethyl was around 109 octane.
Dream Garage...with those nice cars in side; Thanks for to share your complicated job ✌🙂👍
56’s are the red headed stepchildren of tri-fives. BTW, 6’s are the best. And then the 69 Camaro. I’m living thru you guys vicariously. Thanks, guys !
Cool car. Make it Like it used to be!
Would be awesome to see this bad boy go down the track again! Do a revival series on it.
Seats look liked jaz, remember them from the ads in car craft in the 80's.
Outstanding car and love the Cragars!!🇺🇸💪🇺🇸
I love how you guys have 3 old school race cars ALL with A arms. So bad ass to not see any straight axles
So nostalgic cool 😎
That carburetor looks like a old 3 barrel which is a great big block carb also with the right cam a 427 loves a tunnel ram because a big block with rectangle port heads flow so good they beg for a tunnel ram, that with a 4 speed in that car then you got a hot rod.

We're not gonna change anything about it!
Danny you got the best of both worlds your girl and your cars
They're called traction bars they used them back in the day on the Camaros anything with leaf springs they put them on there so you didn't get no wheel hop they locked against the front of the spring and stop the wheel hub
Budda Bing, Blue Bird, Bad Blue, Blue Sky, Old Blue, is so cool !
That square is probably for the slicks
'56s are the best!
My favorite tri-five
