    Thank you. I've recently had to work with a voice over artist who bought recording equipment for a home setup, due to the pandemic. His recordings were awful, sounding like a Zoom call. I made him double check that he was using the correct microphone and he was, so he moved to another room (I think the bathroom). I didn't have the heart to tell him his work was rejected, but I think I should advise him on creating a good recording space, or maybe you could point me to a video I could send him. Many thanks for your great advice, I have learned so much.

    Unfortunately for me and I'm sure for a lot of people listen rooms are also living spaces, so things like couches, coffee tables, and lamp tables plus lamps are things we can't get around, not to mention other factors of should I say factor ;-) Even so I think my/our space sounds pretty awesome, but know can be better if it was dedicated 100 percent. Last I heard "panels' will not be tolerated :-( I feel like such a wuss right now but such is life! Thanks Again and Happy Listening!!

      Living and listening in the same room produces a series of compromises that usually have a negative impact on the sonic presentation value.

    For speakers in corners - aren't subwoofers the exception to the rule here? I was always taught subwoofers are best the corner spaces since the waves are so long that the reflections from a corner can start to cancel out.

    • @AcousticFields
      @AcousticFields  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Placing a low-frequency energy device in room corners increases the output of the subwoofer. However, the increased output is room distortion. When will people realize that quantity is not quality.

      @@AcousticFields interesting! I had read that in the Master Handbook of Acoustics back in the 2000's so interesting to see how times have changed.

    Hi! I see you are a true expert in the field of acoustics. I have a question: if I put cheap Amazon foam on top of the mineral wool panels I am going to build (it is all I can afford for now), will the 1" foam interfere in the absorption of my mineral wool panel? The reason I'd put foam on top of it is that someone in my family is worried the Muslin fabric wont be enough to prevent the mineral wool's particles to escape the panel, so they want me to add a thin layer of acoustic foam to make sure no particles passes through the muslin and end up breathed in while I sleep, but I fear the foam will interfere with the mineral wool effectiveness. Would it?

    • @AcousticFields
      @AcousticFields  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The panel depth using limp mass material types determines how low the unit will absorb to. Do not use building insulation. It lacks the proper rates and levels of absorption for music and voice.

    Great information. How much will room correction such as ARC in Anthem amps or Dirac built into the amplifier help deal with alcoves, or an L shaped room?

    • @AcousticFields
      @AcousticFields  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, these systems work on predictable and consistent room boundary surfaces.

    • @paulhunter6652
      @paulhunter6652 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AcousticFields Thank you for your reply. Many sales people and actual ARC and DIRAC users who have set their systems up say different. Some say they turn off the room correction for music listening two channel. Dirac may be better than ARC. I know you defend the room but at the end of the day I have to have music. Few have the perfect room set-up.

      Getting quality sound in a room is all about doing a lot of little things correctly. Just as important is doing them in the proper sequence or order. Every small action taken is like one step in a staircase. If you take each step in the proper order, you will reach the top of the mountain as the Brit's say. The elevator to good sound is out of order. You must take the sonic stairs one step at a time.

    Clearing sound field in a mixing room I'd have to use higher speakers stands. That will result in a more aggressive tilt to the monitors. Will that cause problems?

    • @AcousticFields
      @AcousticFields  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Speaker stands are always recommended especially ours where they contain our carbon technology so you gain low - frequency absorption along the front wall where pressure is the highest.

    Cupping your hands around your mouth is such a simple but effective demonstration. It is so easy to hear the impact I don't know why more people don't understand. High quality headphones would be better IMO.

      Headphones are very small rooms. In fact, their nickname is "cans". This experience in a can is completely different that room sound.
