  • In this video Luke from Weekend Tour Pros reviews the new TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD irons. Released as a follow up to the Stealth irons from 2022, these irons are bigger, chunkier and even easier to hit than their predecessor.
    Luke starts the review by talking about the looks of the iron including their unique shape, drawing comparisons to the Cleveland Launcher XL Halo irons. Luke shows some close up shots of the Stealth 2 HD and compares it to other irons so you can see the shape of the iron for yourself.
    Afterwards Luke hits a batch of shots with the TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD, showing you the data from TrackMan and giving his immediate feedback from each shot.
    Once done hitting shots, Luke gives his initial thoughts as he leaves the fitting bay before returning home to compare those feelings he had in the bay to the actual data after a deeper review. Luke also gives a comparison to his own Titleist T200 and the Cleveland Launcher XL Halo.
    Luke ends the video with his final thoughts on the TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD irons.

    Love the review! I won an ebay auction of these thinking i was getting regular stealths lol. But every video i see seems to suggest that these actually do extremely well even for low handicappers. I feel like ive seen three or four youtubers get better numbers with these clubs than their own clubs but still call them high handicappers irons. I suppose workability is the main concern but it seems like they should just throw them in the bag and get over the look factor haha. You should play a round with them and make a vid!

      Hi Ben! Thank you for watching my video and for your great comment! It was a few months back that I filmed the video so I can’t remember everything I said but I totally agree. You see on the main mens/women’s professional tours that the pros are moving towards more forgiving golf clubs than the traditional blades etc. so why shouldn’t that theme apply to all golfers? I’m a massive advocate of playing the clubs that help you shoot the lowest scores! Thanks for giving my channel a watch! All the best! 👍🏼

    I recently bought Sub 70 model 799 hybrid-irons that compete very well in this category at a substantially lower price as they are a direct-to-consumer company. I got my in the U.S. for US$90 a club and I see that Sub 70 has a location in Hereford, England. I suggest that if you know your build, Sub 70 is a great choice. They offer many other heads too - forged, muscle back, cavity back and hollow body hybrid-irons.

      Hi Chester! Thanks for watching the video and for your comment! I’ve heard good things about Sub 70 and you’re another example of that! Would love to get my hands on some DTC clubs but so hard where I’m a new channel trying to grow a following… I’m very fortunate that I can test these clubs through a relationship with my local golf centre who have been really kind to me but would definitely test Sub 70 when I can get my hands on them! Would be great to hear back from you later in the golf season to see how you are feeling about them! All the best, Luke

    Hi, great review, and couldn't have come at a better time!! I'm a c.15 handicapper, and booked for an iron fitting in 3 weeks time! Hopefully I'll be able to test and compare the Stealth HD with Cleveland XL Halo, but also Wilson, and probably a couple of other brands!
    I currently game Mizuno MP20 HMB irons, but really struggle with my irons in general actually, thus need more forgiving I feel now! I'll only go for 8i through to SW, as use Ping G425 hybrids 4 through to even 7 lol!!
    My days of being a brand snob are hopefully over, but will go with a totally open mind to the fitting! Have worked out that the Stealth HD would be about £140 more for my custom set!
    Did you try out the HD 8, 9 and wedges btw, as those are the only irons I'd ever be using?
    Keep up the good work!!
    Andrew

      Hi Andrew! Thank you for such a nice comment and for watching my video! Sadly with the test kits most manufacturers only provide a 7 iron so that’s all I could test (interestingly I was having this conversation with a friend tonight that with the rise of ‘combo’ sets like you play, I think this will change soon and we will see 6 iron and 8/9 irons in test kits!).
      However I have a friend who has the regular Stealth irons and he loves them and has seen his handicap drop from 18 to 13 with them so I’m optimistic you’ll have a good experience with them! I’m definitely not a brand snob either and think if you can save money you should so do try the Cleveland’s if you can too!
      Would really love to hear how you get on! Good luck with it and thanks again for watching! All the best, Luke

      Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Have you tried the standard Stealth by any chance, or your mate the Stealth HD, ie to compare both models?
      Cheers
      Andrew

      Hi Andrew! No problem at all! TH-cam is a community and we’ve got to help each other out in this world!
      Yes I have a review of the Stealth on my channel from last year. Obviously as a mid-handicap golfer my swing changes a bit from month to month so I wouldn’t say they are directly comparable as they were filmed 9 months apart… but I’ve just pulled both sets of numbers up from TrackMan and the summary is:
      Stealth was longer with higher ball speeds but lower spinning, lower launching and lower peak heights.
      Stealth 2 HD was shorter, higher spinning, higher launching and with greater peak heights so it came into the green a lot steeper.
      Now at the time I was hitting a bit more of a low draw vs. a slight cut now in an attempt to add some height so I think part of what you are seeing is my change of delivery but I’d expect to see similar results if I retested today just with both numbers closer together. Both are great clubs in my opinion though and think if I gave both to 10 golfers it would be 50/50 which one they pick based on their swing! Hope that helps! All the best, Luke

      Fitting is not until 17th March, but will let you know how I get on!? I assume you tried the standard steel shafts? I'm a mid-handicapper also, and just turned 50 actually, so intrigued by graphite shafts!
      When I did try indoors the Cleveland XL a few months ago, I tried the stock steel shaft, and the Pro was very reluctant to let me try it with graphite shaft, but managed to sway him in the end! He believed I'd pull every shot, but I actually enjoyed using the graphite shaft, was a few yards longer, and hit them pretty straight tbh!!

    • @weekendtourpros
      @weekendtourpros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Andrew! I only tried the Stealth 2 HD in the stock steel shaft shown in the video. For the Cleveland Launcher XL Halo I did use the Project X Cypher graphite shaft as this was the stock option most places I looked in the UK.
      I’d always been interested in hitting a graphite iron shaft, probably for reasons similar to you, but didn’t notice much difference to be honest. One thing I would say is that graphite iron shafts do seem to be on the rise and some are even popping up on the PGA Tour as there seems to be a lot of positives around build quality/consistency vs. Steel and they are now making them in a variety of flexes for all golfers.
      Best of luck on 17 March!

    These have more offset than the halo's. Did you notice this in your test? Did you have to fight the draw more with these than you did the clevelands?

    • @weekendtourpros
      @weekendtourpros  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Dustin! The offset difference is not something I personally noticed, but that isn’t to say that other people more conscious of it might do… In terms of fighting the draw, I certainly didn’t feel that either BUT I’m hitting a little cut by default at the moment so again that might be the cause of which I didn’t experience that. I did really like both clubs though and think it will be 50/50 in terms of which one performs better in different golfers hands! Sorry I can’t offer you anything more concrete here! All the best, Luke
