Don't think a defensive-style player has good future in China's TT. The best I can remember is Wu Yang, a female defensive player, now hear no more about her.
He's the #3 U19 player in the world. Don't be so sure.
He won U15 Youth World Championship last year. Playing in the U19 category for his first season now. It will be interesting to see, how his journey goes on and if he will be as successful as he was against younger opponents
@TTDefender I agree. I think China has found a way to be the potential vanguard for chopper's survival as they have for penholders.
My only problem with Sun Yang's style is that he hasn't mastered the backhand attack. There were so many high balls too his backhand which he could have twiddled to smash using his backhand but instead he just chopped it. The opponent took full advantage of that and always pushed to his backhand knowing that there it no danger even if he lifts it too high.
