Available Now: mercury-studios.lnk.to/TheWho...
The original Who line-up performing a full live set in front of 600,000 people at the Isle of Wight festival in the UK in 1970.
At 2am August 30th The Who appeared on stage and gave one of the most memorable concerts of their career.
The filmed negative of the show, shot by Academy Award winning Director Murray Lerner, has been restored to the highest visual quality.
The sound has now been remixed from it's original 8 track tapes under the personal supervision of Pete Townshend at his Eel Pie Studios in London.
The result is a stunning 24 bit mix available for the first time in 5.1 Surround Sound and DTS.
This track is from the full live DVD "The Who - Live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970", available now.
Ever since I was a young boy,
I've played the silver ball.
From Soho down to Brighton
I must have played them all.
But I ain't seen nothing like him
In any amusement hall
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball!
He stands like a statue,
Becomes part of the machine.
Feeling all the bumpers
Always playing clean.
He plays by intuition,
The digit counters fall.
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball!
He's a pin ball wizard
There has got to be a twist.
A pin ball wizard,
S'got such a supple wrist.
How do you think he does it? I don't know!
What makes him so good?'
He ain't got no distractions
Can't hear those buzzers and bells,
Don't see lights a flashin'
Plays by sense of smell.
Always has a replay,
'N' never tilts at all
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball.
I thought I was
The Bally table king.
But I just handed
My pin ball crown to him.
Even on my favorite table
He can beat my best.
His disciples lead him in
And he just does the rest.
He's got crazy flipper fingers
Never seen him fall
That deaf dumb and blind kind
Sure plays a mean pin ball!!!

I´m a rock drummer for over 35 years but what the hell "Moon the Loon" played on drums?
What a phenomenal creativity and impecable timing...
R.i.P. Keith, one of the greatest Rock´n´roll drummer the mankind ever seen...
@@pentatonicpaddy lmao ok bro w the shitty guitar playing and receding hairline
Keith Moon's standard "beats" are what most people call "drum fills" haha. One of the (if not the) best drummer of all time.
It's breath taking to watch Keith play, what an artist!
Keith always looks like he is having the best time! Such a pleasure to watch and hear him!
Keith is one of the best drummers of all time but he was like fucking hyperactive
Pretty sure he was diagnosed with add as a kid
is moon the loon! like that
He had ADHD
whadaya expect
He was batshit crazy. Which is why he died at such a young age.
I say he was the best, even to this date.
You gotta love The Who. There really aren't many bands better. Utterly superb.
The Who is the one band where the drummer overshadowed everyone else
Four of the greatest men who ever stood on a stage.
The band every other band wish they could be.
I exclude Roger - he was a strategic pick to be a poster boy/the eye candy. The real talent and brains come from the other 3
Have you heard the drums in this song? He is one of the best drum players i've ever heard! You Go Kieth Moon!
Man, I still gaze in awe at this song and listen in wonder. Moon was truly a magician and loved drumming. Poor dude. The Who will live forever.
There is nobody in the present like this. Just listen to the harmony and playing / musicianship by everyone in this band. No comparison.
One of the best acts ever ,what a group they were
I was there and remember this well. Keith was the greatest drummer on the planet, mad as a box of frogs but the greatest drummer.
Lucky You !!
The name of my band's next album will be "Mad As A Box Of Frogs"
Yeah you keep telling yourself that
How old were you then?
kawalski, analysis he was
This performance showcases Moons abilities on the drums man. So much different from the album version, I listen to this over the album version everytime.
This band was in the early seventies like a avalanche. I`ve seen them 72, 74, 75 and all gigs have been outstanding,Keith Moon, John Entwistle, never will forget these guys...UK Rock pure at all !
Thank God I shared this earth with Moon the loon for 12 years - what a drummer
This video explains why I love Keith Moon. Hands down favorite drummer of all time. Rest In Paradise buddy.
With drummers like Moon and Peart it's like you have a purely rhythmic version of the song going on by itself. RIP neil
this video encapsulates everything great about rock and roll
Alice Cooper aptly referred to Keith Moon as an "octopus" and watching him play on this song you can see why.
Steve Hammond
F alice trump hating cooper .
It's that drummer from the Muppet Show - got 6 arms
@@duanegeorges9339 Thought I heard Animal was modeled after Ginger Baker.
I played this live once...the most epic experience of my life..such a truly incredible song...shivers up my spine each time!
Just love that ride sound that Keith always has. Who said you can't play the drums without hi-hats?!
i love the who, a lot of people say that keith moon's drumming was like banging on dust bins but i absolutely adore him and his drumming and i don't care what people say. roger is a great singer, i love it when he swings the mike. pete is an outstanding songwriter(this is my favourite song) and john, well what can i say, he's one of the best bassists i have ever seen. this is just the best. Rest in peace my dearest keith and john
I'm always amazed that Roger somehow manages to avoid clobbering someone when he swings that mike around.
I love Keith's play. My most favorite band in 60-70's.
Keith Moon was the greatest drummer and I still love to watch and listen to the old Who videos with Keith playing the drums.
It seems as if The Who are one of the few bands that you can just tell they enjoy being on that stage, doing what they love.
This is the reason I've got listen to The Who these boys kicked ass throughout the years and still doing it I love it!!
Moon was the greatest drummer ever & Entwistle greatest bassist ever. RIP. The Who has been my favorite band since I was a little girl, thank god my mother has great taste in music.
I tend to feel myself that #funk has some of the greatest #basslines. Merry #Christmas!
The craziest drummer ever + the most skilled bass player ever + the best guitarist/songwritter ever + one of the best frontman ever = THE WHO
It's all subjective anyhow, no need to wet your underwear. Pete is a fantastic songwriter and a great guitarist, let's just leave it at that.
Juan Pérez Gilmore!!!
Keith Moon beats are astonishing.
You drunk bruh, frusciante is the best guitarist, flea best bassist, chad smith drummer, anthony the frontman
@@ferdiaroalbert989 Well i think bonham or baker are better than chad smith, John Paul Jones is better (for me at least) than flea but in honesty, flea is a MUCH better showman and Page and Hendrix are way better than Frusciante
Was in Croydon, 69, Fairfield Hall, 2hrs and 15 minutes without break! What a concert! Madness!
I was there fantastic''!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fantastic and with Keith Moon it's a thrill!!!
Saw them live in 1972 when they recorded "live at Leeds" - was down the front and couldn't hear for days afterwards. Brilliant!!!
*1970
Vocally , during this period , Roger Daltrey was at the height of his powers .
Saw them five times in the eighties, (post- Moon unfortunately-although Kenny Jones is definitely no slouch either). But Daltrey was just a freaking amazing vocalist. Hit every note perfect, just like on all the classic records...and jogging in place at the mic for the whole show, like two hours.
ThefightingCelt greatest rock voice of em all....all x
he's right on -------- they all are ----------- RIGHT ON !!!!!
I saw them after Hendrix, Zep, Stones, Santana, Clapton, etc. I was simply not prepared. You couldn't be.
The Who IS the ultimate rock band. No weak links in this band .
Hmmm no. Roger Daltrey for once is a mediocre rock singer. I can think of much better rock bands.
Dutch Icefinder listen to him singing I want it all at the Freddie Mercury tribute, it's simply UNBEATABLE! Roger Daltrey have stage presence! Not only voice, but power on the stage
Sorry I don t agree. The Who only "Tommy is a great album, but everything else sucks quite frankly.
Daltrey's voice is not very powerful on stage. You think he was a better rock singer than Freddy Mercury or let s say a Noddy Holder? Give me a break.
if were talking member to member talent its plausible greatest drummer? greatest bass player? one of the best lead guitarists? top 30 easy and yes id agree roger is the weak link not to say he isnt good another band that tick a lot of boxes were rod and the faces
Dutch Icefinder no Roger is not better than Freddie, I haven't said that
Love it. My only criticism is the Ox is barely seen as usual. In my humble opinion, the best bassist to have ever graced the planet.
I have never seen a drummer perform like Keith Moon. Ever! Amazing to watch.
I think this is the best version off this beauty, what a sound Unreal.
Keith Moon!! What a drummer!
Always loved this band and Pete's punchy finesse on the guitar.
Moon, the greatest drummer ever
+mendez
No. He was good but sometimes sloppy, unprecise... Ginger Baker and John Bonham were better.
Bonham and Baker are boring
Carlin lol no
Its mad to think that one band can have all four legends in, Keith Moon greatest drummer ever, Peter Townsend one of the best guitarist in the world, Roger Doltery best singer ever and the ox the best bassist to live. No question about it.
John's sound on this one is incredible! It sounds like a brass orchestra. Pete kept his guitar very clean, and let the drums and the bass add the drive.
All the members are just... fucking perfect.
Keith Moon is the man that got me into music and drumming, he's my hero :D My goal in life is to be a drummer NEAR as good as him
Keith and Neil Peart Greatest drummers of all time
I ve always loved The Who the group! This song was a favorite of mine back in the 70s !
This is one of their best live performances on TH-cam I reckon. Awesome in fact.
And the Moon still shines brightly....
Incredible band, the best
MAGIC ! and what a show they always give , true value for money and a great night out !
Pete is so brilliant. Love how he sounds just like a pinball machine.
Best live band of all time!
The amazing Bass that resounds after Pete Townsend's intro. On the Album I believe it's French horns. But John Entwistle playing it on his Bass guitar is so superior.
yes !....the opening bass lines are fucking awesome
French horns?
What's superior is that Entwistle plays both, and the tone he gets on bass to replicate it live. What is cooler, him playing bass or french horn?
I was there - FANTASTIC!!!!!
Best band, no questions, no discussion, no argument.
Best rock opera ever!
You'll may someone a very lucky dude! lol.... and yeah the who is the shit! :D
Quadrophenia was better imo
Happy birthday Keith Moon *_* RIP
Maria de Lourdes Diniz Keith the original, the best, the only, rip
Moon as unique on drums as beck on a guitar musicians who refuse to stick inside the box, wonderful!
This is exactly what a live performance should be! Better than the studio recording.
pure and wonderful ROCK
1000.000 drum fills per minute
I was there that evening. Still remember it 50 years later.
What a fantastic four piece live band !!!......
We miss you Keith
Genius: Keith Moon playing drums
I was there too...as a young hippie girl who came in from Spain just for this concert....no money no tickets but we had lots of love.....rock on kids....never sell out...
December 20 1970 at the Round House Chalk Farm London
Elton John
America
The Who
It was a Sunday afternoon and evening I was 15 years old.
Wonderful in every way exciting!
We love you Keith,. Hope you are still smashing those drumskins up in heaven,,,you were the best there ever was and ever will be,,xxxxxxx
kEITH´s drums......amazing!!!!
Keith Moon is so awesome!! Dude just about played a drum solo the entire tune. And it sounds good!!!!.
That was one of the coolest concerts I experienced.
Classic Moon, Dear Boy. Subtle Wrists...
Oh Mann, FETZT das. Ich glaub the Who sind doch die Besten.
Thanks for the update. He seems to know every one of Keiths moves and actions!Hes great!
you participated history!!! I heard this songs thousands o' times, and can't stop...
uma de minhas bandas favoritas ao lado dos stones led zepellin e dire straits fleetwood mac entre outras! the who arrebenta sempre! banda sensacional!
Pode colocar : Boston, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Rush e Eagles.
I have trouble imagining this song with any other drummer.
I love Keith, check out my drum playlist. I covered this song and tried to play it like Keith.
as old as I am --- I never actually realized how great these guys are, till now -------- I mean, I always liked their music --------- but this live performance is freakin awesome!
4 geniuses ,one mythical band..
Keith was a troubled soul , amazing drummer , my favourite! Watching him perform live on video is amazing!! I like Led Zepp etc but no comparison in MY eyes , Moon is the man! |Why does everone have to slag someone else off to prove there favourite is the best??
They were also at the Isle of Wight in '69.
+floyd pitt was there, what a chaos at great pleasure! Took me two days to gat back!
+Boba Zivkovic You lucky, lucky person.
Oh yeah - I was there - just about! I think more dope was smoked there than at Woodstock. Anyone remember the burger van that burned down? We were just standing watching it :-~
One of the best list-adds I've ever read.
Love this for decades and continue, timeless.
Great bands look back a little to the influences of eras that came before. Henry Purcel, Baroque composer was influential to some of the ways of this great band.
nixie NICLA lol, never made this connection, but I suppose you're right!
Yup. The sus4 chord.
I ❤ Keith!!!!
The Who Live at the Isle of Wight--greatest recorded live concert EVER!!
Saw the Who at the carousel in S.F. about 68,this song was the face melter.
Keith Moon was one the worlds most entertaining drummers, very similar
to Gene Krupa. Considering he was self taught and never practised much
he was incredible. What a life he lived. RIP Keith.
This song is the reason I'm a Wholagin.
If you try to forget everything that you know about the who, and then listen to this song, you can understand how this became popular. Think that you've never heard of the who, and then suddenly hear a song like this.
And this is how it's done, kids.
"The one" is Zak Starkey, Ringo's son. Keith taught him.
Over 2 million people have watched this, The Who are amazing!
The Who... saw them at Giants Stadium, '89... too bad I missed em w/ Keith back in the 70's - one of the greatest bands ever!

Does Anyone Here Realize How Special Keith Moon Was?Or Is It Just Me That Finds Him Amazing!?
Just a one-off natural genius on the drums.. can improvise at the drop of a hat and make a good performance great
This must have been the concert of all time.
I'm not a drummer, just someone who has a keen sense of rhythm and timing. Keith was a machine.
Traveled to Nuremberg from Italy (509th Airborne) to see them in the Summer of '79 "The Who Makes Your Feet Move" AC/DC, Molly Hatchet, Cheap Trick backed them up. I went for the Who who came on at 10PM. Played until the polizei came to Zeppelin Field at 1:30 PM. Best concert I've ever seen! Made it back to my unit in Vicenza Italy hours before Airborne PT at 6 AM. I was still limping from dancing for 3 and half hours straight at the concert. Great P.T. dancing to the Who!!!
Probably the only group who can make a studio hit sound better live
