Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a fictional male reindeer, created by Robert Lewis May, usually depicted as a young calf who barely has antlers, with a glowing red nose, popularly known as "Santa's Ninth Reindeer." When depicted, he is the lead reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve. The luminosity of his nose is so great that it illuminates the team's path through inclement winter weather.

The one with the antlers is called "cartoon humor". It's not a mistake. They did that purposely for entertainment.

TV networks have been known to edit and re-edit RtRNR anyway they see fit in order to fit timeslots. I had a tape of the movie recorded from TV back in the early 80's and he never sounded like that on my copy, I can assure you. Somebody wasn't doing their job right when they mixed up that audio.

I used to have a boss like this! Acts all tough-guy around his underlings, acts really nice for his boss. I never saw this as a mistake.

You missed one at the very first of the show. On the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer title screen the production year in Roman numerals reads MCLXIV, which is 1164 in Arabic numerals. It should read MCMLXIV (1964). So with those missing 800 years, Rudolph is the oldest show ever shown on TV. Congratulations CBS.
I'm pretty sure that #2 was intentional and Donner's antlers just scrunch up when he's stressed. This isn't the only time in the movie it happens.

Did anyone else realize that Santa was complaining how If he didn't have Donner (Rudolph's dad) that he couldn't get the sleigh of the ground. Well, in the scene where his family was watching Rudolph, Donner was there that is why they were missing a reindeer

He probably didn’t mean Donner specifically. He probably meant without an eighth reindeer (with the eighth reindeer’s position being Donner’s) he couldn’t get the sleigh off the ground.

You missed one. After Hermey takes out the Bumble's teeth, and is standing in between the Bumble's legs, Hermey is talking, but they completely forgot to animate a mouth on him.

I am 58 years old and have watched this movie hundreds of times! My husband and I were watching it with our grandchildren last week and for the first time I noticed that there were only 7 reindeer including Rudolph! So glad you brought it up!!
For the 6th one, remember that Cornelius said later one that Bumbles bounce. They probably bounced away before Rudolph could see them

To me, this movie was perfect when I was growing up.. It's still perfect today. I wouldn't have it any other way. ⛄🎄
I can think of another mistake you missed. During the Misfit Toys song, the toy bird states that he can't fly, but can swim. Fast forward to the end of the movie when Santa's flying, and an elf is tossing out toys to the houses below. He gives each toy an umbrella to use to float down, except the bird. We see the bird fly off the sleigh instead. So either the bird can suddenly fly, or he fell to his death.
I'm 66 and I've watched this movie since 1964. It's been changed a few time here and there, but I honestly never even noticed till people started pointing it out. I don't really care, I just love to watch it : )

The 1st mistake was actually @ 0:22 - the copyright is listed as (c) MCLXIV (1164). The other "M" was accidentally omitted. It should've read MCMLXIV (1964).
#6 can be explained away about Cornelius being gone is "Bumbles bounce" and probably bounced away
the 2nd mistake is not a mistake beacuse he just gets a little angry and it makes his antlers curl up like a expresion so you might want to remove that
Antlers don't change form out of mood, it stays the same shape.

When Rudolph ran away, he could already fly. So could his dad, Donner. Why didn't Donner fly, to look for Rudolph. Why didn't Rudolph fly to get away from the snow monster?

you missed a big one. There's clearly 8 reindeer behind Rudolph, but then they show Donner standing and watching them fly away, and Santa says without him he can't get the sleigh off the ground.
I don't think they ever show eight reindeer behind Rudolph. For some reason Donner (and presumably Blitzen) get left behind when they harness Rudolph up.
I was just thinking about that when watching Rudolph today.

In the original 1964 broadcast, Donner stays behind with Clarice and his Mrs. as they watch Rudolph fly off with Santa. Even though this isn't seen in subsequent airings, it's implied, as we see the take off from their POV. The only one I cant account for is Comet the coach

The reason they used only seven reindeer plus Rudolph to make eight pulling the sleigh was that the original writer of Rudolph didn’t want Rudolph to stand out as being sort of the lead of the team but part of it.

If I remember correctly according to Clement Clark Moore's "A Visit From Saint Nicholas" (AKA "The Night Before Christmas") there were eight tiny reindeer that pulled Santa Claus' sleight on Christmas Eve. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer didn't first appear until nearly a century later.
#9 was intentional too since it would look weird if Rudolph had a buddy beside him
The original VA for the Head Elf was out sick so they called in another VA hence the different voices. It's explained in The Making of Rudolph and on the Wikipedia page.
I always thought it was a change in the script between the VA and the animation.

You missed one so obvious that I saw it years ago. In the scene right after he's born look at him in front of his mom, you can see a black wire sticking out of his leg. It must have the the electric power for the bulb in his nose. Same scene moments later it is gone.

Absolutely none of this has any mistakes it is what they had to work with at the time. And seeing how these are played every single year for probably 50 years tells you that nobody really cares that there are minor imperfections. In my humble opinion it’s perfect. Sometimes you have to appreciate things for what they are. All you are doing is trying to see a forest through the trees when the trees are the most beautiful part 🤷♂️😊

I have a bonus mistake that the team of Rankin/Bass made. When the special first aired, there wasn’t a scene where Rudolph and his friends picked up the misfit toys.
You missed the elf killing the bird that can only swim.

After Christmas, the "bumble" abominable snow monster moved to the ice planet Hoth, to become Luke Skywalker's nemesis.
Your scene with the elf that suddenly appears singing "We don't like to brag" is different from the version that is currently being showed on TV. The other one shows the other elves putting that tall elf in a brown bag...
that's in the second verse. it's the same elf singing that line, just later in the song.

I have always noticed that all the hands of the characters were dirty. Even as a child. I would imagine with as many times as the hands are touched when they move the figures, that they would get dirty and they just didn’t see it because it happened so slowly.

For the first mistake, maybe Santa’s food isn’t colored because the movie originally came out in Black and White. When making the movie, they may have felt it wasn’t necessary since it would be in B&W.
No. I have the original broadcast including Commercials and it was in Color. NBC "living color" peacock opened the show. Also, the 1964 version doesn't have Santa saving the toys from the Island of Misfit toys. In 1965 they added that

Surprise, all film records in color. It is a limitation of the TV/projector that turns it black and white.

no, it doesn't. it mostly takes place in like late spring, it's just snowy all year round in the north pole so it seems like winter but they state that it's may when the reindeer games take place which is the same day rudolph meets clarice and hermey so we can assume that they get to the island of misfit toys in like june, rudolph runs away that night, he gets home the day before christmas eve, hermey and yukon find him on christmas eve in the morning, they get back to christmastown at night before santa leaves.
