Either Sainz or Bottas. But that's mid term solution at best. It's too early to tell who Lawson or Colapinto would become, Tsunoda is not WDC material definitely.
‘Forgot’ to mention the rat behavior of Baby Russel at the stewards. So nice to see Max devastated him before the first corner as he promised him at the drivers parade
Max has been as big of a "baby" as anyone else on the grid. He was on the better part of the track, with a better 2nd phase and definitely had pace on the Mercedes. It is being blown wayyyyyyyyy out of proportion by Red Bull and Max - par for the course. And the first couple years of Max in F1 - was a far bigger "baby" than just about anyone and it comes out when the car or weekend is not working well or people "wronged" him.
I feel like Red Bull should just put Tsunoda in that car next year. He's been performing well the last two seasons and of their other options has been the most consistent. His consistency has been a bit lacking but at this point that's better than having Perez in that car who is consistently slow. Just put him in that car for a season to see how he handles things. If it doesn't work out they can always change it after the season.
Totally agree with your hypothesis regarding Ocon and Alpine. Esteban's actually seemed very relaxed for the past few races. I think he got his podium in Brasil and feels he can bow out of Alpine with his head held high. I get the impression that all sides are comfortable with this decision.
Yuki has comfortably beaten everyone he’s driven against and yet they don’t promote him. He’s erratic at times and makes some silly mistakes, but this season he has been relatively consistent in a very inconsistent car. Maybe its time for Horner to finally give him a chance.
I disagree, it's taken him a long time to get to this point with the consistency of being in the same team and the same environment. I really doubt he's going to take a move to RBR in his stride and stay consistent. RBR can't afford to give him the time they've given him at TR/AT/V-CARB (or whatever it's called now).
@@TheAverageDutchmanAgreed. He’s had nearly 4 years to get good in that car and he isn’t always better than Lawson who has shown he adapts quickly. In an ideal would Liam would get longer in the VCARB. But they have to decide on what they have at the moment as Perez has been that bad. Also Lawson is beating Perez most of the time anyway.
That 2nd RBR seat is a bit of a poison chalice tbh, a driver going into that team would have to realise the odds are massively stacked against them, Helmet loves MV as does Horny, the whole team are centered around him, rightly or wrongly so, yes he is a massive talent so i get they want to keep him happy, what they want is an extremely good No2 to win that constructors title and nothing else, if they find the next MV and the man himself is still in the team then that would make for good viewing.
Max asks: what can you do to make the car faster? Faster is not the same as easier to drive. Others don't have Max's level of skill and thus cannot extract the same level of performance out of the car. Holding back the car and their driver to make someone else look less bad... why would they do that? It's a sport about winning races, not saving the fifi's.
Marc, the issue in this one isn't the penalties themselves. There was no doubt that Norris didn't obey the yellow flag. There was no doubt that Hamilton sped through pit lane. The issue is race control waited 3 laps before yellow flagging the mirror and only after Hamilton has destroyed his car on the debris. They could have yellow flagged the corner in front of the straight with Albon's mirror and put the safety car parked in back of the mirror and get it out of the way very quickly. And let's not forget, they have radios to warn the drivers as well. They waited in some cases 10 minutes to assess a penalty. That's a problem. And it happens over and over again. It makes it seem like they dither on making quick decisions and as a result, they multiply the effects of the penalty all out of proportion to what happened. Finally, it's very obvious that Norris doesn't know how to overtake properly unless he has a car significantly faster than the car in front of him.
Wrong. They didn't wait 10 minutes. They investigate one thing after another. When it came to speeding through the double-yellow the stewards looked at the telemetry of ALL the drivers who got the double-yellow and they penalized ALL drivers who did not lift which turned out to be the grand total of Norris alone. Worse is that Norris got off freely when he ignored the aborted start in Brazil. He has a total disregard for safety. They should revoke his license in order to protect himself against himself and to protect the rest of the grid, the officials and the public. That's the real thing. Lando is driving and Lando is not capable of paying attention to safety measures. He should not be driving.
Love the app, but it drastically needs a no spoilers feature for results push notifications implemented for next season… it has spoiled so many session this year.
I still don't get why Sainz (I believe it was Sainz) the previous week who went into the pit lane and then crossed the white line and back on the track without a penalty. While last race had overly harsh penalties for several drivers and mirror. Trashed SAinz's race for sure and further trashed Lewis's race. Absolute confusion over the flags as well - they were there, not there then back again, lights on or not on at the spot while the mirror was still there the entire time. Just silly to leave it there. Though - the only real excitement in the race was purely from FIAs eff ups. Outside of the first 2-3 laps - it was a very boring race.
Because you don't know the rules? On that track you're not allowed to cross the line for pit lane entry. Sainz did not enter the pits. Had Sainz been outside and swerved in to box, he would be wrong. As to why it's the case on that circuit, easy answer to figure out. Look at where the white line for pit entry is and where the racing line on the track is.
Question.. Why was it double waved yellows? I thought for debris on the track (i.e. a mirror) it was a yellow/red striped flag. I quite like the idea of Lawson alongside Max, I just love his attitude. What I don't understand is, despite the history between the two, why Red Bull didn't grab Sainz?
Double-yellow means immediately reduce speed, be ready to brake and/or change direction. As for RB teammates the most important part is having harmonious and cooperative drivers. Have a good atmosphere. Carlos and Max are okay with each other but their dad's have history. There is some begging for trouble there. Carlos isn't really a 1st level driver nor a 2nd level driver. The question is if Horner feels like managing all the issues that that brings along. Carlos is too good to accept himself being the 2nd driver. But he will be. It would be up to Carlos to show he can be the Perez that Perez failed to be, yet would he really want that?
I do hope you will be more regularly doing live commentary for the 2025 season. You have so much realistic experience that informs us well not to mention your obvious enthusiasm for F1.😀 PS. Just quietly I like Jolyon Palmer's commentary for the same reasons, but don't tell him that. LOL.
Yep I think there was a VSC gap. Saying they erred on the side of safety though is a stretch given that it was double waved yellows, then a single yellow, then a green flag, all whilst the mirror lay dormant on the track in exactly the same state until Bottas hit it. Also double waved yellows means be prepared to stop, not just a small lift. Lando was obviously at fault, however it would be interesting to see the onboards from other cars that weren't snitched on!
The mirror incident was ridiculous. The stewards see something dangerous, throw a yellow then do nothing else, don't they remove the yellow at some point and then Bottas takes matters into his own hands, punctures happen and thankfully not dangerous cars in the wall types. Under VSC you order all cars to go via the pitlane while a marshal wanders over and hands it back to the Williams pitwall so they can hotglue it back on for Saudi. "Track clear, VSC ending in 3 2 1 full course green." George Max, it's a warm up cool down lap, annoying but no foul. Maybe a quiet word with Max about going slow on the racing line. As a result Max "loses all respect for Russel" for his telling to the stewards. Then in the race Max is telling tails because Lando caught him up on the straight under yellow and RB are on the blower trying to get a penalty. If I was Mclaren I'd be reviewing all footage and trying to get a retrospective 35 seconds on everyone else that went full beans down the straight under yellow. Hulk causes an accident, no penalty. Stroll gives Albon a brown pants moment, penalty The rules and stewarding is a joke right now and it needs sorting.
The FIA needs to make huge changes, starting at the top. Absolutely brutal decisions this weekend. Ben Sulayem acts like a dictator and needs to be removed.
Ridiculous penalty for Norris as it was essentially a 35 second+ penalty and to have to serve it within 3 laps when the field was that bunched up after a safety car is harsh as hell. The FIA say it's all in the name of safety, but they were the ones that left a wing mirror sitting on a straight for multiple laps and it seems didn't even alert the teams/drivers that it was there as Bottas went straight over it causing more issues. Who actually caused the safety issues....the stewards, the FIA.
Slowing for yellow flags is one of the most basic rules in motorsport in any category and the expectation that you slow down for a yellow, in this case double yellow flags, is beyond reproach.
@@AmsterdamHeavy Nobody is disputing that. The discussion is - was the penalty harsh. It was for a wing mirror that wasn't on the racing line. A wing mirror the FIA themselves clearly failed to warn teams about as Bottas didn't see it or know about it.
