I freq split then freq shift the isolated frequencies. It's typically meant to create some atonality or 'train whistle' attribute when shifting sounds up. I never gain much out of shifting down, it just gets hollow and boring imo.
hey just wanted to shout out another nice freq shifting technique while we are on the topic: freq shift your signal in some extreme way (up or down) follow that up by an interesting effect (lets say heavy distortion) and freq shift that resulting signal back (up or down) the same amount of the first freq shift. gives very interesting results imo
@@manwithadream2043 yoo i actually tried that with a few effects once. distortion, comporession, EQing, reverb etc. but it can produce some really scary loud noise for some reason :D
oh i meant to say invaluable instead of infamous xD oh man. only one day after i was discussing with some friends how those words confuse me..
😅

@@DisconnectedAutomaton shifting down can be useful to get kicks to be a little more subby, but yeah, it also sounds a bit hollow sometimes

@@Beatsbasteln very true xD but still cool af kinda right? (shout out safety limiter (by nih-plugs) on the master in my default bitwig template XD)
FFT stuff is like a 5th level spell isnt it?
