harmors phaser can be used to make a lot of timbres found in classic dance synths, it can create a PWM-like sound using the harmonic mode too. very underrated. people often mistake my harmor sounds for original oldschool dance sounds or analog 80s stuff so its really all in how youre using it
i think you did. but it's not perfectly answered yet i think, even with this video. because while i can use spectral gates to act like phasers there is no spectral plugin out there yet that primarily trys to be a phaser
I dont have harmor, but i think i have seen people being able to resynthesize in harmor. If im correct you could rezynthesise any sound in harmor and then apply harmors phaser. Again i dont have harmor so i might be wrong
yeah it's a really powerful synthesizer. unfortunately image line stopped selling it to people without FL studio, but I think that makes the question how to get a similiar sound or workflow with other plugins even more significant. Or maybe someone will make a new additive synth that builds up on harmor's concept, but maybe solves some of the features with a better workflow, as that synth can be a lot of menu diving
if there are allpass filters in synthedit, just mix them 50:50 with the dry signal to get a notch filter, then take some oscillator or LFO module and shift those notches' frequencies around and you got a classic phaser
i like your videos but your examples don't seem to translate to understanding the best. maybe more simple sounds to illustrate a point, something like just a saw wave maybe (LOL got further, you're using a simple saw wave, idk, i guess that isn't the greatest either) or something a little more complex, but not much. you don't have to take my suggestion but it is some feedback for you. not saw waves, but this video does a great job of using examples and then a/b comparisons th-cam.com/video/h2mwkluWPbw/w-d-xo.html
@@artificium_ nice video! but idk what you mean with simpler sounds tbh. saw waves are already simple waveforms. they have lots of harmonics to illustrate how the phaser mutes a few partials sometimes. that was the idea. i gotta say i could imagine better beats overall for that kinda sound. i'm just keeping it simple lately because i put a stronger focus on playing with my new master keyboard and plugin development
@@Beatsbasteln yea i realized you were using a simple saw which was what i was mentioning but i came from your spectral compressor video to this one, and it was hard to hear some changes on the sound you were using there. seems tho that you were ahead of me here using the saw
@@Beatsbasteln maybe breaks would be a nice example for things since a lot of people know how they sound naturally. maybe not for this phaser video but yea
@@artificium_ interesting.. i had actually recorded a little section about a break where i used the phaser alternatives to make it wide and fluid. one of my favorite triphop break moves. but i decided against showing it because i already have it in a few other videos

@@nuphory it's crazy that this beast of a phaser isn't even harmor's only miracle

wait. i asked an arguably useful question on the internet? no way!
