9:56 this comment about the universe loving us hits harder for me as someone who for some reason was in the right place at the right time to accidentally become intertwined pannenkoek's breakout video about Mario 64... WHILE ALSO SHARING A BIRTHDAY WITH THE NORTH AMERICAN RELEASE OF THE GAME
I can imagine some sort of cartoon murder mystery like in Ace Attorney where Broth obtains the official Mario World knife but thrn someone steals it and uses it to frame them for murder
Big fan of the phrase "To what degree can the Mario World Knife be used to injure a person?" Update: Also a big fan of 10:35's accidental Doofenschmirtz impression followed by the door stuck reference 😭
The comment about the potential randomness of there being 120 poles in the lobby and how us all randomly enjoying that together means theres love in the universe really moved me
The 120 banisters fact gave me a cute mod idea: Adding an object to the lobby that adds a little light on each banister when you get its corresponding star!
Thumbnail Thwomp is still amazing Edit: As a fellow German, the Joke is superb. Cause as we all know and have heard over the years, Germans arent funny
You should know that your content legitimately provides immense joy. For me specifically, a lot of the trivia you post online, while yes, there is a comedic factor to many of them, and others are to the average person, very mundane, to me they are honestly fascinating little tidbits about these games.

a tip for Broth in case he sees this: if you add a list of timestamps formatted like this into the video description, TH-cam should automatically add them into the video as clickable chapters
It's genuinely so endearing and inspiring how enthusiastic you are about Mario alongside how much you know. Shared this on Bluesky, but as a dev I wish anyone would be this enthusiastic and adore my work this much, so it's awesome to see. It's so cool and I appreciate how you're streaming and sharing your knowledge in this way now!!
THE BOX ONE IS REALLY GOOD the exaggeratedly cartoony explosion noise makes it so much funnier Been a big fan of the blog for 10 years now :) Good to see you get to share your love of Mario stuff
There is so much to appreciate and ponder about this very franchise. It is influential on how we think about how these games were even realized with ideas the developers did not even intend.
I really love the titles you choose for these, and I love your editing style, and the song you choose for the Log Saga was perfect! You are incredible Mr. Broth! Never change! (Unless it's for the better, I guess XD)
The starting point of BBH being at x = 666 is extremely fitting, but I'd argue that it would be even more fitting if the Mad Piano was placed on those coordinates.
Broth, your Mario facts and now videos remind me of the fun and unpredictable internet I fell in love with around 2006-2010. Thank you so much for what you do, and I sincerely hope you can continue to do it ^u^
14:18 I don't know where in the code this is happening, but the visual difference is due to the spiny switching between flat shading and "smooth" (Gourand) shading. Both shading methods tint the color based on the camera vector, the surface normal vector, and the lighting vector, but flat shading uses one normal vector for the whole triangle (i.e. assumes a flat triangle) whereas Gourand shading interpolates between the normal vectors at each corner of the triangle (i.e. makes fake pyramid-like shape). Before rendering the polygons each frame, you have to set up the environment by calling "gSPSetGeometryMode" with the appropriate shading mode. If you don't, you just get the mode of whatever was last rendered - maybe that's why it came and went depending on the camera angle!
2:58 I suspect the vibration comes from the interaction between the hard cylinder hitbox of the sign, the "hop" attack animation, and the alignment relative to the global x/y axis. As pannenkoek discusses in his most recent video on all goomba glitches, the cylinder hitbox push calculation swapped the parameters to the atan2 function, resulting in a strange rotation effect being applied.
A collab between Broth and pannenkoek would be awesome. The former would talk about obscure Mario 64 glitches and oversights, and the latter would explain why those things happen.
squished mario....... i love him edit: mutilated mario........ i love him too EDIT: I ALSO LOVE THE SPINY THAT GOES FROM SHARP TO SMOOTH THEN BACK TO SHARP THEN SMOOTH AGAIN AND SHARP AND
Love the stream highlights and I had something to add about the point starting at 4:32. The Mario Encyclopedia was not actually made by Nintendo in Japan but a third party publishing company (Ambit) and they also made several Zelda books (Zelda Encyclopedia, Arts & Artefacts, Creating a Champion) around the same time, which contain very questionable information at times. The English versions also had the same problems as the Mario Encyclopedia where names were taken from wikis and such. But if you want a bit of a look into a parallel universe where the Mario wiki would continue to Mario Encyclopedia as a valid source, look no further than the various Zelda wikis which not only use the Zelda Encyclopedia as a source but also as the chief and primary source for names on their websites.
It's "We're Counting On You, Mario!" from the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (GameCube) soundtrack (not to be confused with the Switch version of the same song, "Supportive Voices From Afar", which has a different instrumentation). I hope this helps!
Very cool video ! A few possible improvements would be including some context for some of the tests (like mentioning Bob-Omb leaving his "house" without having the context of what it is, or the log section without knowing what you're trying to do until some time) and also having the musics used in the video available somewhere, like in the description or on a pinned comment, 'cause that last music was really good but I don't know its name
As pointed out in the video description, all livestreams are archived in this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLVIGb-G12N3is3ln5TxyZHzG2x6_V_TmO.html They are all uploaded to this channel, but kept unlisted (so as to not clutter your subscription feed) so the way to access them is through this playlist. I hope this is acceptable!
The stuff with the spiny... maybe it's a light rendering issue? Wonder what might happen to its appearance if you messed with the lighting/shadow values :/c
Absolutely love Broth reacting to relatively mundane things in this game with all the enthusiasm of Steve Irwin finding some random snake under a rock
broth really is like the steve irwin of mario
We should all strive to match the level of whimsy you have, just genuinely infectious joy

You were born to say that An A press is an A press...

Truly a miracle. This game loves universes.
The fact that broth isn’t being ironic at the beginning while enjoying the Lakitu spawn shenanigans is why people love his work.
I can imagine some sort of cartoon murder mystery like in Ace Attorney where Broth obtains the official Mario World knife but thrn someone steals it and uses it to frame them for murder
11:25 I love how excited he gets. Like "Yeah! That's a good angle! :D" regarding Mario with no limbs
Big fan of the phrase "To what degree can the Mario World Knife be used to injure a person?"
Update: Also a big fan of 10:35's accidental Doofenschmirtz impression followed by the door stuck reference 😭
Unhinged Broth is the best Broth

I am so glad Mario community came together to support Broth, if only to get joyful videos like this one. I'm having so much fun.
The sheer joy in your voice every time anything happens is honestly infectious.

22:03 "Please, please Mario, I need you to die in a very specific way!"

my theory is that it's a early version of the catapult before Nintendo decided it would be better to make it a object instead of a Capture
Or it was replaced by the orange poles/Luncheon fork people that launch Mario very far but only from a specific point
Oh, there's highlights now? I'm never around to catch the full streams, thank you for taking the time to edit this. We love you Supper!

this is the level of mario 64 knowledge that even pannenkoek2012 doesn’t talk about! woah!
was this on wii vc? i noticed because the chain chomp's tongue is purple-ish, i don't know why it's like that on wii specifically
He seems to be using Dolphin's Free Cam in a few of these clips; it's almost certainly Wii VC.

The Mario World knife, but you can only stab when the BAH riff of the music plays.
Mario's not affected by darkness, huh? Ahh... so that's why he was able to (briefly) wield the Keyblade...
Justice for CornBoy! They can't keep the secret hidden forever!
