The American Guild of Organists and the Royal College of Organists have named March 6, 2022 Woman Composer Sunday since it is the Sunday closest to International Women’s Day. Largo was written by Elizabeth Stirling (1819-1895). An English composer and organist, Stirling was educated at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She was known for exceptional pedal technique and played numerous organ recitals during her life.
