Hi Brad. Your video on making high-end cutting boards is excellent. I am an experienced amateur woodworker who is now retired who has decided to finally make things to sell. After considering (and trying several ideas) I have settled on cutting boards and other ideas related to cooking which is my other passion. Thanks for your clear instructions. Frank in NC
I am glad you mentioned raising the grain. The first time I made cutting boards I did not do this and had a mess on my hands. This is the only cutting board video I have seen that mentions doing this step. Keep up the good work.
That's a neat project. I'm a part-time shop teacher, and my students and I are going to try this out soon. The finished product looks great, and thank you for the helpful video!
Fix This Build That I have a DeWalt planer. Just got rid of a 1984 Craftsman table saw that I thought I was going to die on. Got a Rigid. Not ideal but fits my skill level and budget. I wish SawStop would run a promo to help us begginner/intermediate guys. See what you can do about that! Hahaha.
Simple, very simple and without so many complications of using machines that normally simple mortals do not have at home .... thanks, beautiful final finish .... I subscribe to see your projects ... blessed and very happy day!
Here in South Africa, people buy them and display them in the kitchen, and use them to serve only on special occasions, a few times a year. Even then, the cutting is done beforehand on a utility board made out of bamboo, or even one of the plastic composites! A few just hack them to shreds and come back for more, which is also good (for my bank balance)! :)
A beautiful cutting board, Brad. You explain each step in the process very clearly and make the whole job seem easy. Very well done! Keep up the great work.
I really like the colors you chose! Looks like racing stripes. One thing I always like on cutting boards is either rubber feet, or an inset cut into the bottom sides for finger grabbers.
Beeswax and oil?! Never knew such a thing existed. Also thanks for the wetting between grains tip. I have noticed those "feathers" before. They are annoying. Will have to try. Great tips, thanks for the share.
That is one proper cutting board, wonderful choice of wood, nice, clean design. But seeing all the fuss with the sanding, I know why I just use a smoothing plane :)
Coming from Scotland that piece of walnut (you call scrap) would have cost approx. £100.00 as we have very few hard wood suppliers here, so if you hear about any in Scotland let me know. Your board is stoater and the part with the oil going on is the best part.
I just got this package a few days ago, and I've had a hard time putting it down. There are lots of full-color pictures, with thorough descriptions of every step in the project. The plans are super easy to read and understand, unlike several others I looked at online. Definitely a valuable addition to my woodworking reference library. I would highly recommend it to anyone who's interested in woodworking *TopFineWoodworking. Com*
Awesome shop.. You can definitely tell a lot of planning and work went into the setup. Thank you for your no nonsense approach to teaching. Thank you again...
Great tutorial, I’m making a board for the first time now and I did not know about spraying it with water, I have watched a bunch of these and they never tell you to do that. Thank you!!
+Crafted Workshop thanks, Johnny! I swear this is the last video I'll release with the same title as yours 😃. Just had to do videos on some of my older projects everyone asks about. And yeah, you should have tons of those millwork guys around your parts!
That's seriously a nice design.. a lot of wood working videos I see are nice but I'd never have it in my house.. this you could sell at a higher end cutlery store.
pretty sad when u get a thumb down on an educational video i think you did a great job i do the exact same thing as u .nice job brad,. take care. thumbs up from this guy . have a good weeekend thanks for sharing .
+African Cichlids I think there is one dude who just goes around and thumbs down every single video he watches just for the heck of it. Appreciate your support!
Rather curious why you didnt put finger grooves in the end of the board. Helps to move it when hands are wet and helps break any suction that occurs between the board and counter due to moisture. Very nice looking board.

I never wanted a cutting board more, in my life, than I do now. That yellow is REALLY beautiful.
It is nice
I'm about tired of Aunt Betty's criticisms.
Great vid!
+Witt Allen she's a tough critic! lol

I am glad you mentioned raising the grain. The first time I made cutting boards I did not do this and had a mess on my hands. This is the only cutting board video I have seen that mentions doing this step. Keep up the good work.
+Lloyd Simmons thanks, Lloyd it is definitely an important step!
That's a neat project. I'm a part-time shop teacher, and my students and I are going to try this out soon. The finished product looks great, and thank you for the helpful video!
+Garrett Armstrong if the class makes some I'd love to see a picture!
Did he send u pics?
Congrats from Brazil! Awesome cuting board!
+Rodrigo Folador Milli thanks, Rodrigo!
So simple. So beautiful. Simplicity at it's best.
thanks!
That was a nice tip I hadn't thought about, wet the board mid way through sanding to keep it from getting rough.
+TheDinosaurJockey yeah, I didn't do it for a while and kept wondering why my boards got so rough after washing. Changed everything!
Fantastic and an affordable project for us newbs. Thx!
+Scott Brinkmeyer as long as you have a tablesaw and planer you're good to go. Thanks!

por nada digo humildemente lo que mis ojos ven, y con mucha sinceridad ...Exitos y enormes bendiciones
Great tip! Now we won't disappoint Aunt Betty :)
You don't want the wrath of Aunt Betty :)
Don’t disappoint Aunt Betty!!!
Racing stripes look good on anything!
Love that push stick design!
Simple but effective
May be 3 years old, but really timely and another GR8 detailed video for those of us to use as a step by step how to, which I will. Thanks
I'm the end user and very happy the way this cutting board had turned out. Simple and beautiful.
This is too beautiful to cut on...
I never want to let them go!
You also shouldn't cut on this board with quality knives ;-)

The water trick worked just fine! Thanks!
+Samuel Silva awesome, Samuel! Glad it helped.
The beeswax finish is awesome,of course I’m a beekeeper too. 🐝👍
Free beeswax!
A beautiful cutting board, Brad. You explain each step in the process very clearly and make the whole job seem easy. Very well done! Keep up the great work.
Very nice….. what were your finished dimensions?
Seriously though the board looks awesome!
hahaha! thanks, Bob!
Good video. I like that you explain exactly what you are doing, unlike a lot of cutting board videos that just play music.
I really like the colors you chose! Looks like racing stripes.
One thing I always like on cutting boards is either rubber feet, or an inset cut into the bottom sides for finger grabbers.
+djAnakin thanks!

Beautiful! I absolutely love walnut.
+Sozo thanks!
Oh my god...I want one it's gorgeous! I'm a chef and have been looking for a larger size cutting board. Nice work
I really like your ending sentence..
"Get out there, and build something awesome"...
Gorgeous! I love the aesthetic of the stripes (walnut is always a winner), and that oiling step is always really exciting...even to watch others do.
+Mo Poppins thanks, Mo!
That is one proper cutting board, wonderful choice of wood, nice, clean design. But seeing all the fuss with the sanding, I know why I just use a smoothing plane :)
Looks amazing .. well done from Qatar
+Nayef aldosari thanks!
Some really great tips, Brad! That one "extra" step is usually what makes a big difference.
+KSFWG yup, that makes the difference between a happy customer and a disappointed Aunt Betty 😃
I'm really digging that hand sanding pad. I'll look on Amazon and see if I can find one. I had no idea such a thing existed! nice cutting board.
This is the only one I could find on Amazon amzn.to/2m214Ec. But I bought mine in a set from Rockler here: bit.ly/rocklersandingpads
Great looking board. Yes, I raise the grain on all my small projects and turnings.
It's funny how many people don't know about that step though.
its deff and important step i finish with a 600 grit .
i didnt knew you were on youtube, i follow you on instagram, i was amazed at your work.. great fan of yours bro. keep up the good work.
+Thasleem Hussain thanks, Thasleem!
I know you

+Walter Scott Hahaha, yeah I guess I take that for granted. I have walnut offcuts coming out of my ears.
Stunning piece!
+B17NNS thanks!
Thank you. Watching this video helped me to make my first cutting board. Big thanks on the link for the oil also.
That turned out really nice!

Belíssima peça, nem dá coragem de passar a faca. Parabéns.
Yeah, yeah!!!!.
Like my grandmother used to say: with a full pantry anyone's a cook ! Show off.
We like to see craftsmanship not all set up TV set.
I like cutting boards and I love wood
Looking awesome! And BTW good idea - the sanding dust remover table.. :)
thanks!
Nicely done!
Thank you, Fred!
Perfect dude you just perfect 😎👍👍
Nice video and design.Way to use good safety PPE. I would touch on the hazards of working with black waulnut
Where'd ya get that sanding pad? It's dope
Rather curious why you didnt put finger grooves in the end of the board. Helps to move it when hands are wet and helps break any suction that occurs between the board and counter due to moisture. Very nice looking board.
This is such a helpful tutorial. Beautiful cutting board. Thank you for sharing
Thanx 4 Your comment
