The prime reason it is way ahead of Flipkart and Snapdeal is its customer-centric approach, reliability and the trust consumers have on it. Rather than the richest man in history generously reward it's employees for helping create its empire, it instead robbed the employees from anything that could be valuable in the future for a dollar or two more per hour in the present. According to my judgment and being a Prime customer since many years, what I have observed is we are hooked to Amazon and partly Flipkart. Amazon mainly because of Prime membership and free deliveries, one day/ two day delivery, hassle free returns, professional packaging, awesome customer support, Cashbacks, Prime videos etc. Even Flipkart and Snapdeal are good with immediate return policies. Whatever u wanna buy u first check it online. I have bought AC, refrigerator, too online. Also Amazon brings loads of stuff that was previously not available in Indian markets. Also a small local shop cannot hold everything you might need. It has definitely eased the shopping experience. Also we really appreciate the employment generation by Amazon. More jobs you create more influence you'll have on the ruling class. I have heard about the carbon footprint and stuff but cannot source everything locally in practical sense. I believe in a future of Amazon and other giants too in this enormous Indian market who loves shopping. Also waiting what Reliance is planning for entry in e retail in India.

I also have a suggestion for Amazon. they can start paid tours of their head office in India. I am sure given its location, design and size there will be many visitors who will be willing to pay a fortune and see the office and how Amazon operates. Like the Coke museum in Atlanta.

It is good that they put it in Hyderabad, considering how fast the city is developing and their location.

I hope this won't affect the local businesses in India, I know it will have an impact. But shopping at the local owned shops is a pleasure on it's own. Nothing can replace the human interaction of being there in person instead of looking at a page filled information.

Look I hate human interaction with their constent honking cars ,loud blaring music , passive aggressive interactions and some their some stupid bias like caste, religion etc with which politicians run their business

Those are on paper stats. Farmers are smarter than you think. Dairy, poultry, bee keeping, prawn culture etc are considered as agriculture.
They'll have investments here n there they'll show they land and don't pay taxes. No tax in India for agriculture

Amazon needs India way more than India needs amazon. Frankly i personally felt better if flipkart (not boyghtoff by walmart) were expanding and doing good. Its microsoft scenario again.

  • @Sk-22

This is what Amazon does. They track which item is most purchased from their website, then they start to manufacture the product on their own and make all the profit and kick out competitors from their website. The Indian govt recognised this and did the right thing.

Amazon is primarily a market place and a logistics company with scale. This is how they should approach local vendors and they'll capture a good part of the market but hopefully there will be strong competition for a long time for consumer's sake.
