Hello Tom, to keep the hook in place when load-securing. So it cannot fall off if it is a windy day. /Jens

@@mungfam it's to keep it in reach but not on the ground when you are cdurrently working on something else. The video doesn't show the purpose unfortuantely.
Just imagine if you don't have any planks or lashes where you can put hook while working. That's what the magnet is for, it sticks to the metal surface of your trailer for example.

@@mungfam When you put the hook in, and then have to walk to the other side of the trailer, the magnet stops it from falling out before you can tighten it.
