My favorite place on Earth, where I test drove a Boxster the right way! The next time I saw my 718 was in my driveway. +1

In case anyone is wondering. The Porsche experience these two gentlemen did was $500/each for 1.5hrs. This is the cost for the Carrera S at the Atlanta Center. Other vehicles are different costs and other locations vary slightly.

Been there three times. Picked up two cars there, 991 GT3 Touring in Miami Blue and a 718 Spyder in Gentien Blue. Yes and yes, love blue, and blessed.

Three years later, but I was there today (07/27/2024) with my 17 year old son. He attended the young drivers academy and I did the 718 v 911 comparison. We both had a great time…instruction was stellar. My son learned. Ton of valuable driving skills. I learned what (I think) I already knew. The 718 GTS IS the SUPERIOR driving platform.

I did this in April, thanks in part to watching this episode on Amazon!
My instructor was fantastic, but I noticed a huge difference in my experience at the low grip section. He emphasized maintaining tire squeal throughout the course, and to purposefully slide the rear around the entire circuit. Once I got it down, it was the biggest grin of the entire experience.

Did the ride along and the museum tour last year and it was hands down one of the coolest experiences I've ever done. I will definitely be back again to do the driving experience. Also, if you love food the restaurant at the top is excellent!

@Bruno Desrosiers I’m sure we could adjust it to suit us RHD drivers here by driving RHD cars and knowing that is correct as you’re steering with your stronger hand ( majority being right handed) . It’s like writing with your left hand if your right handed , you’re immediately feeling all wrong in a lhd car especially if it’s a manual gearbox.

I went to the Porsche driving experience in Los Angeles about a month ago. Due to Covid the instructor does not ride in the car with you. He drives in front of you as you as you are keeping your vehicle one and ahalf car Lengths behind his car.I had a blast! My instructor James was amazing. I put my order in for a Cayman S👍🏻

Todd & Paul, if I missed this in another comment then I apologize. However, seeing as you guys are out of Utah, what made you go to Atlanta rather than the Los Angeles PEC? Are there significant differences in the experience from one to another? Really enjoyed the video! Keep up the great work with the content. Thanks!

@Modine 90 minutes for a grand? That’s pretty mediocre for the money. At least if it’s to truly be an accessible experience. But it’s more of a marketing thing I’m sure.

I know your crowd doesn't like suvs, but can we see an old cayenne turbo s? Unless this is a bad car/suv, it's quite cheap for older years and having a performance suv is nice. Suvs/crossovers are the top sellers, so maybe you can look at it as a necessary evil? You're going to have one suv in the garage, why not the best one you can? You can get these under 25k to compliment a cheap 996

    • @phattyhales

We actually have several videos of base Cayenne that Todd owns.

Do the driving lessons you learn in a 911 really apply to other sports cars? My recent experience with a 911 taught me no, the rules are different. You're on the power way early. You cant count on the car to rotate itself like you can with a miata/cayman- you have to use the power, but unlike even a cayman, you can put it all down pretty much immediately. None of that getting on the power halfway through the corner like a front-engined car, as soon as you've pitched the car in you need the power to get the rotation and then you just ride this wave of torque and traction around the corner like you're the rock in a sling. It's an ecstatic experience but you have to unlearn things you learn from driving 'normal' sports cars to get the most out of it. Getting back in a boxster afterwards I was going "why can't i put all the power down" which, considering the boxster is mid-engined and I only own front engine, rwd cars, the 911 clearly warped my perceptions of what 'normal' rear wheel traction is.
