This video is to help you with finding a topic to design for Amazon Merch on Demand..... If you want to try Merch Informer for FREE here is my affiliate link...Merch Informer (Coupon Code DetourShirts): merchinformer.com/933.html
Thanks, Juna! I watched the Merch Informer video but your tutorial is more short and to the point. I appreciate you sharing your talent and it's very inspiring!
Make sure you check trademarks on trending phrases. Just A Girl is trademarked. I had a bunch of designs under that niche from a couple years back then Amazon took down one of my designs. I researched it and it is now trademarked for clothing. I had to go in and delete every design that had that phrase before Amazon sends more rejections.
Justia shows that the trademark was abandoned. Still though, might want to be better safe than sorry. Amazon doesn't really care what the truth is--they just make their decisions and go on about their business. Appeals are pointless (IMO).
@@arkikali5632 it's crazy. Just A Girl Who is trademarked in USPTO for clothing and it's Live. It's record number 8 of 41. It gets confusing. Sometimes people use part of the phrase and just because of that, we can't use it in Amazon. Amazon doesn't like to take chances they'll reject anything that has a partial phrase, it seems.
@@elvis723 Yup. And yet if you look up superhero notebook or Disney coloring book, the infringement is rampant. It is what it is though. I don't have an issue with trademark when someone came up with it. I have a huge problem with someone seeing a trend and then filing a trademark to block competition. 😠
Thank you for the information, but I have a problem with the Merch by Amazon platform that does not accept me, and I need a portal to put my designs on
Great content, Juna! I liked the reminder to be wary of the one-day movers and shakers. A broader look time-wise definitely gives more valuable information. Because you're right, it's never clear what caused a brief uptick in sales to land them on the movers and shakers page. Better to see those designs selling well for at least over a week. Kind of unrelated but still a Merch question: When you're uploading one design to each of the different worldwide Amazon markets, how do you insure that you won't get a trademark violation in those markets? (Are you checking for trademarks and content rules for each market for each design?) I've been hesitant to upload to other markets besides the US because a few times when *Amazon* auto-uploaded to other markets on my behalf a while ago, some weeks or months later I got one or two notices of content/trademark violation from those non-US markets. For that reason, I halted auto-uploading a long time ago. Also, what is your best practice for handling non-English language translations with your title, brand, and feature bullets? Basically, what is your process for uploading to ALL international markets? Thanks for any info you could provide!
Well.... you may not like my answer.... you can check every market but I don't.... I take a chance that US is the one with the most trademarks so if it passes on US I just put it on all markets... most of the times I'm right..... about 1 in 300 or so I get a trademark strike on a different market.... it may be even less than that, I can't really remember the last time it happened.
@@DetourShirts Ahh, I see. Interesting. Thank you for your response. I am TERRIFIED of trademark/content violations because I value my account so much. My method is CLUNKY. I upload a design to just a lone standard shirt in the US market. Then if the standard shirt goes live without a problem, I upload the design to all the other products in the US market. Then I'll include just a standard shirt on the UK market. Wait for it to go live. Then I'll upload All of the products in the UK market. I fully admit it's a horrible method. (There must be a better way!) I like your method, though. Bold. Just successfully upload to the US and cross your fingers for the other markets lol. Thanks for this! What do you do about the non-English languages in the title, brand, etc., if you don't mind my asking? Thank you!
Yes... basically Amazon grouped Merch on Demand products in a climate pledge category so now our BSRs are lower than before because it is based off of that group not all of Amazon..... So now you will see BSRs that are like half what they used to be
It could work.... remember it only tells you what is selling and what has low competition... you will still need to make a design people want to buy.... and on top of that it really is just a helpful tool but it doesn't guarantee sales
Would you say it's worth the investment for someone who's still in tier 10? A lot of the tools seem to be just a much more convenient way to do something, that can be done for free with more steps. But, if the thing helps sell more products, I'd say that's worth it in any case.
Depends on how much you have to spend. If you were like me and had nothing to spend then I wouldn't. If you are already making an income of $50 or more a month then it could be worth it.
Would you recommend buying a service like Canva or Kittl over using software like Affinity Designer (or similar apps) for speedy and convenient t-shirt design?
Yes.... it really depends what you want and how you want to design your shirts but those apps can really be useful if you want something quick and you don't want to draw your own stuff.
@@DetourShirts Thanks for the reply. For me, it’s part and part. I want something quick, likely for the same reason you demo them for people on TH-cam. However, I want vector node capability so I can trace photos and make images for concepts that require a more unique, custom feel. Let me ask you then, for someone with your capability do you use both Canva and Kittl? If not, then which one is your go to?
Juna, I realize this tool is for Amazon Merch. May be a good idea and personally selfish request (wink) to make a video , to know which research tools you recommend for other sites, such as Etsy. Thanks!

I wouldn't use 'tie dye' if I were you - it may mislead the customer to think it is actually tie dyed. I mean, it won't but Amazon might think it is misleading, like using 'glitter'.
