Saint James, patron saint of Catholic Spain was Jewish; very drole. Thank you for posting this excellent, well read series. I have read and own most of the Sharpe books, seen the TV series so only lack the T Shirt😉😃 Historical note : despite the Spanish claim in this text, the Muslims did invade northern Europe. In the East they were finally routed at the Siege of Vienna, (July 17-September 12, 1683), largely thanks to Polish troops. In the West it was Charles Martell (The Hammer) who on October 25, 732, defeated the Arab soldiers near Poitiers in France.
This ought to be the first Sharpe story. The TV show started with this one yet the published reading order and chronological publishing order are different, as is this audiobook.
You have answered your own question so I don’t understand “ought” nor “yet”. Cornwall can write what he wants when he wants to. Adaptions have many problems. You can have your favourites.
Cornwell didn't know if the books would be a success or if he'd even get a publishing deal for more. You'll find many book series are published like these, the hornblower series for instance was not published chronologically. Also the TV show messed up, they couldn't follow the earlier books in India closely to the books because the actors were all considerably older.
The part from when Sharpe gets the watch to the breaking of the seige at the farmhouse is missing, for folks interested in knowing what to read to get caught up.
this law chunk out of this book destroys the continuity and the story. Somehow another shop went to bed. Will have a skin of stolen wine and woke up fighting the dragons in the French with a spaniel that he left 24 hours previously. Marvellous who would’ve thought that they could destroy a beard Cromwell narrative?
@charleslangrishl9124 nope but funny story, I was asked to narrate this book. I said no cause I could only do a bad Mexican accent when trying to sound Spanish
I am very grateful for these audiobooks..... thanks
I love the television series but this is so much better darker and richer. 😊
After watching the series repeatedly for years, I love the contrast between the video version and the original.
I am on my fourth reading did you try an of the gerbue / potage or porrage recipe in the stories. delicious cheap food gerald delbert

There is missing part when Sharpe's company getting separated from Blass Viva and getting surrounded by french
Pitty
I noticed that. Very annoying trying to patch together what is missing.
Just starting this book found it strange that others was in 3 parts and this one is only 2
@@markpratten7295 Reader's Digest condensed version?
chapter 8 is the missing part
you are correct it goes from disc 3 to disc 4 and skips the start of disc 4---bad timing for skip Thank you to the poster anyways, for the long effort
The part from when Sharpe gets the watch to the breaking of the seige at the farmhouse is missing, for folks interested in knowing what to read to get caught up.
Thanks I had to go back a few times to figure out what happened
What happens in between these parts?
Thank you! Kind of a disappointment that, but at least now I know I didn't just sleep through that part, lol
Any chance you could post the missing part?
Thank you thank you thank you for all of these. 🙏

50:49 The first time his name is used.
There is a chunk of the story missing when disk 4 starts. The part where he meets the count is not there.
Yes, also how Vivar directed French army to Sharpe, and how he saved Sharpe(half of that part)
Is this in order? There seems to be a huge gap between disc 3 and 4
Can anyone describe missing section

Good idea
But will Sharpe ever get the gold and the woman?!
3:09:35 protestants up to no good as usual
@UpNorth 😄
Love me some sharpe
A chunk missing
In Sharpe’s Prey he was an officer but here, with Vivar, he becomes a sergeant again.
Are the missing parts because of copyright? Pretty awful to do this without telling people you're cutting whole sections out.

Obviously there is a chapter missing
Oh come on, why delete entire parts?
Did the narrator get his Spanish accent from white guys playing Mexicans in spaghetti westerns?
Si Senor. 👍
