Crusader Strike procs your Mastery, Judgment does not, so you have to factor that in to Crusader Strike's damage. The other thing is If you use judgment > Crusader Strike, they will both come off cooldown at the same time, which means you're not generating the maximum amount of Holy Power. If you use Crusader Strike > Judgment, Crusader Strike will come off cooldown before Judgment and you won't overlap them. Refer to other comment for your other question.
Well this makes me happy, this is the third video I've watched, and this is pretty much what im doing. I just need to be better at keeping inquisition up, and using TV at 5 instead of "when i can." i think that's where my dead spots are coming from. My gear is pretty terrible, currently following a guide on fast gearups, but almost everyone I've come across, save hunters and mages of equal gear i end up out-dpsing with this basic idea. Thanks for a high quality vid. :)
I see what you did there! It's being done by Tazmon, who seems to have had Rank 1 on basically every fight at some point or another, and comes recommended by Fragnance, so I'm confident he knows what he's talking about!
Just desync them. Pop both on pull, then Wings, Guardian, Wings, and then they line up again after that. Only exception would be if there's a particular burn phase you need them both for.
Do you plan on making a Holy Paladin Class Guide? I love the details you use, and the explanation of why you do each thing. I love free information, and you make some excellent guides! I would love to see a Holy Paladin Guide in the future. Cheers
Around 40%, you'll almost never have empty global cooldowns (And with 4set it will take up one as well) so increasing haste will result in abilities overlapping (coming off cooldown at the same time)/not be noticed, so the increase isn't as great as mastery at this point
Some things I don't feel are correct, or don't fully understand and being naive about: Haste is our best stat, so why stop at 40% (with the 4set which I do have)..when we could still increase the GCD on our abilities? - Also, I don't prioritize CS over Judgment because Judgment always hits harder when I analyse my WoL data, even with the mastery buff, it still doesn't hit as hard,
Nice. It's about time there's a proper feral guide as a video. So many small ways to maximize, they really add up in the end. Uhm is Tazmon a new? I've only started noticing him on logs this tier (on top at least). Also yay frags.
I really enjoy your guide, but have 2 things that I think work better overall. First, you skipped over Long Arm of the Law, but it is a decently high speed buff on a 6 second cooldown, only limited if there is no target in the area. The second is instead of using Divine storm with 2+ targets, it should only be used with 3+ targets. since Templars verdict is 275% weapon damage, and Divine storm is 100% weapon damage, using it with 2 mobs would be a 75% weapon damage loss per use. If anyone has any valid arguments or suggestions as to these choices, or other discrepancies they see, I would love to see them. I have no problem being wrong if it makes me better.
You're not looking at the big picture. Divine Storm is Holy damage, which makes it benefit from Inquisition, which also makes the damage from your Mastery higher too.
How do you know it's worked well until you've tested the others? ;) It's a simple case of maths really. Haste and Mastery contribute more to your damage than Crit does. Haste lets you use almost all of your rotational abilities more often, and your Mastery increases your Holy damage which works well with Inquisition.
ok only one question if I have 5 holy power and my holy power builders are not on CD do I want to use tier 16 4 piece or do I want to Templars build it again then use divine storm? sorry if this is confusing and this guide is really helpful I will for sure show it to any ret player. also just by building 5 holy power instead of 3 I went up about 8-10k dps so thanks a ton.
Okay, I played retail up to cataclysm 434 patch quited around before released of the mop. I'm curious why haste must be all the way up 50% ? Like speed of the attack? and not sure I understood it correctly why not crit ?
the command "ds_4t16_5hpaw" doesn't work for me... It says "clcretmodule - invalid action: ds_4t16_5hpaw" That command is not showing on the Legend list either... Any ideas? Is there a lua edit I need to do or something? Nice guide btw! Keep it up!
Should i dump my haste to 40% if i have 4 set bonus? Also if i have a proc from my 4 set bonus and a proc from divine purpose, i want to use my divine storm proc first?
I'd like to know if CLCRet is worth using, also how to customize it - if you can make time to respond via personal message that would be highly appreciated, thanks.
Dakeshi, can You tell me why You went for 45% haste, dropped mastery and went up to 9.30% expertise? I'm kinda sitting @ 39% haste and 55% mastery unbuffed and I like it there, but if there's a way to improve, I'd like to know. ^^
Alright so my brother is stacking nothing but pure haste, he's 559 at the moment. Would it benefit him more to get the set bonuses or just keep the straight haste?
*spends lots of time leveling pali* *gets pali to lvl 73* *realizes that he has terrible gear* *goes to trade chat for advice* *just get gear with +strength and +stamina* *ends up realizing that I am using vanilla gear* *still doesnt know how to fucking play ret pali still after months of work*
Rockyzach88 I know but I have been just doing dungeon after dungeon not the quests. They are too boring. So really I dont know where the quests leave off
ChaseZymase You'll need to balance both. Questing gives some really good gear to help tide you over while you gather gear from dungeons. If you are 73 that means you are in Outlands, no? Those aren't the most enjoyable quests and you just need to choke them down. But in the end you will get some nice gear.
Hello guys can i ask how ret paladins are doing overall at pve wise compared other dps classes .? looking some fun mellee class to play and allso decent i maining a hunter atm but want allso 1 mellee and rets seems fun but i hear a lot QQ thatswhi asking here hope u can advice me litle and help
Currently, they scale very well, so at low gear levels it can be hard to do top DPS, but if you play it well then it's not impossible, but like i said they scale very well. That being said, they do have a lot of utility so they are a good addition to a raid group, and they are also a tonne of fun :) I would recommend. Please note that i have both warrior and DK alts and in my opinion, neither of them are as fun as ret!
I dont get how people say Crusader strike over exorcism and judgment in dmg. My exorcism does 15k more dmg and judgment around 2k more. I do however prioties crusader strike of the 3 just because its cooldown is lower meaning it will be up again quicker for max holy power gains. There might a more efficient way, this works for me though, but what you telling me about most powerfull spell doesnt :o
Crusader Strike also does holy damage which does not show on damage meters, it counts as holy light damage. If you calculate the mastery percentage with your crusader strike hits you will notice it being significantly higher than exorcism or judgement.
Hey nice video like always! this is my new channel and I have just uploaded my first pvp video, I would really appreciate it if you checked it out and gave it some exposure of you liked it! Thanks in advance. -Rowe
Exorcism is never at the bottom, because it's cooldown can reset itself. Also, with the tier 16 set bonus, you want your "generate as much holy power during the encounter as possible" to instead be "Spend as much holy power as possible on abilities that deal damage". Why? Because Templars hits harder than any holy power generating ability (except hammer of wrath, but you got that part right), and your Templars can proc the tier set bonus, which makes divine storm free and, funny enough, also deal more damage than any holy power generating ability (again, except hammer). If you're using divine purpose, this is even more important, as by the time your procs on procs are done proccing themselves, one of your holy power generating abilities will likely be off cooldown anyway and so trying to gain as much holy power as possible will end up in you having 5 holy power, all of your generators off cooldown, and all of your procs active. Congratz, your screen is shiny but your dps is lower than mine.
No offense, buddy, but I trust Paladins from world top 10 guilds (by whom this was written) more than I trust you, and if you knew that much about paladins you wouldn't be watching guides about them. The reason you want to maximise the amount of Holy Power generation is SO that you can spend the maximum amount of Holy Power per fight. There is no point using TV at 3HP if you have holy power generators available and off cd, for example, because you'll get fewer TV's throughout the fight as a result. This is explained very clearly.
The reason using spenders > using generators is based off your procs, not the pre-tier 16 4set logic. Generators > spenders is right for pre 4set, but with the 4set you want spenders because of procs, again, especially with divine purpose. This isn't an argument. Clearly you are not a "world top 10 paladin" or anywhere close to that because if you were you'd be questioning the logic in this video. World of logs and other sites can break down the ability use for you and can prove that I'm right when you see how much damage divine storm is doing on fights like h imm, spoils, siegecrafter, etc. Yeah buddy, I'm gonna use a silly hammer of the righteous when I have 4set+ divine purpose procced and waiting just because its off cooldown. Haha, okayyy...
What an epic TH-cam recommendation
I'm here another 5 years later... what is this
Very good guide! I haven't played my pally for over a year and needed a refresher course. Thank you so much. :D
Forgot to mention divine protection as one of the "utility/cooldown" abilities. Very useful in reducing dmg due to it's short cd.
Crusader Strike procs your Mastery, Judgment does not, so you have to factor that in to Crusader Strike's damage. The other thing is If you use judgment > Crusader Strike, they will both come off cooldown at the same time, which means you're not generating the maximum amount of Holy Power.

It is possible to build up holy power pre-pull using 4 set holy pvp gear! Its kinda annoying but definitely worth it!
The Demo guide is not super high on priority atm. Got the Klaxxi Heroic Guide coming next, then Feral Druid, then Demo after that.
Do you plan on making a Holy Paladin Class Guide? I love the details you use, and the explanation of why you do each thing. I love free information, and you make some excellent guides! I would love to see a Holy Paladin Guide in the future. Cheers
Stream is on Hiatus. I don't really have anything to stream in WoW and haven't found another game to fill the void just yet.
I'm on the lookout

awesome guide and tyvm
coming back to my ret adn this helped, ty :)
50% haste with raid buff or without? id assume with but just making sure. Awesome guide once again
Very good video! I was wondering if you are going to start streaming again? Or have you given up on that? :)
12 seconds in and I like it already.
wowo man thanks a lot for your time and help that help me a lot to be come good dps thanks

Good video but do you think you can finish thr warlock guides before starting another class? Plz
i have a question... what buff should i use
BOK gives higher dmg and DPS
but BOM gives 10% mastery that will increase the dmg of the three spells
nice, cant wait for Hpally guide:D
Recon that would be interesting to watch? High end soloing however
Thank you !! this helped me A LOT !!

*****
that and with tier 16 4 set bonus you should use divine storm for the 50% damage increase
In other words 2targets Divine storm proc 150%+150% = 300% so he's not wrong
Without, the "haste" buff isn't haste, it's attack speed
Or what you can do is. get CLCRet and Reforge Lite, and from there your basicly done.
Dear, you'v pick Pursuit of Justice, ..and sugest Pandarens step instead boots - haste !
Heh, I need to think of something to stream! Don't really have anything to stream in WoW atm :)
Which directly scales up melee haste...
Why is crit lowest? I've always been told to stack it and its worked pretty well for me.
How do you know it's worked well until you've tested the others? ;)
It's a simple case of maths really. Haste and Mastery contribute more to your damage than Crit does. Haste lets you use almost all of your rotational abilities more often, and your Mastery increases your Holy damage which works well with Inquisition.
+Donna Lail He sounds so damn convincing xD

What is the add on you use? Does it cast for you, or is it just telling you what to press?
I'd like to know if CLCRet is worth using, also how to customize it - if you can make time to respond via personal message that would be highly appreciated, thanks.

You should not be worrying about gear at lvl 73. The quests literally take care of when it comes to gear.

Do a ww monk plox, there's isn't really any good dps monks that i have been able to find aside from Justmonk in Method
Wait so is there any Dps rotation adon to help you during fights to tell you what ability to use next ??? please let me know asap
it's called clcret but make sure you read below as dake says the one in the vid is now incorrect and you will need to update it as he posted below.

Get a good rogue to help you on a rogue guide Evrelia :)
What's the CLCRet string you use. Same question as Asher Lilly I guess. Thanks :-)
***** tried Inq es ds_4t16_5hp tv5 how ds_4t16_5hpaw tvaw cs j ds_4t16 exo tv3
but the ds_4t16_5hpaw was invalid any suggestion?
Pazahhaha did u ever get a response to this?
proving grounds endless maybe? Love the class guides btw, keep them coming!
Why does everyone go above 45% haste all of a sudden? :s
I miss MoP :(
Wait what.. you made a ret guide before a demo lock guide? ouch my feelings
ty for guide
Uhh you better get the feral guide right. If it's not, I will come to its youtube page and "rip" it to pieces.
whats 50% of haste?
Unexpected :D good work
what about pvp ?
read guild chat at 13:30
WHATS THE MUSIC ?
omg so good ill be pro in no time
People say Ret palas aren't good.
Ignore the "a"
DANG IT! So with this guild...Im assuming you wont make a Demo lock guide...QQQQQQQQQ I miss my main spec so much.
addons?
you want HARD cap on expertise, meaning 15%.
15%? Wtf
ScrubBusters, everyone.
Hey nice video like always! this is my new channel and I have just uploaded my first pvp video, I would really appreciate it if you checked it out and gave it some exposure of you liked it!

Your priority list is fundamentally wrong, sorry.
/facepalm
