Wyll is a Sorceror/Warlock multiclass. At this point he's 5 sorc/2 WL. I had used a trick with a magic item to refresh lvl 1 spell slots and get a bunch of sorcery points, but I don't think they ever actually were used/needed here. He has Great Old One patron so his crits cause fear, as he has a crit focused build later on, and draconic sorcerer for the defense and free spell at level 1. Color of dragon doesn't matter much, it's preference, the +3 AC with no armor is what we're looking at. Lae'zel is all barbarian and went wildheart with tiger aspect. This allows her to swing in an arc for 1/2 normal damage but hitting up to 3 targets when raging. This arc attack also makes targets bleed. At level 6 she took the aspect of the wolverine so attacking bleeding (or poisoned) targets maim them (that's important in the next bit). Her boots apply reverberation stacks, which lower the targets str/dex/con saving throws by 1 per stack, and at 5 stacks, they have to make a con save or be knocked prone. Prone targets get attacked with advantage by melee attackers, so this will make us hit more often, which is nice since we have great weapon master giving us -5 to our chance to hit. The boots apply that reverberation whenever we cause any other effect on the target, so each bleed and maim effect will also cause the boots to trigger. Her armor also does another effect like reverberation, called radiating orbs. These do -1 to the enemies' chance to hit per stack and go up to I think 10 in the current patch. They lose 2 stacks when they miss and 1 per round. But her chest armor does this in an aoe whenever she deals radiant damage (her melee attacks do here due to a temp buff, act 2 allows ways to get it on all attacks) and it does the aoe orb EACH time she deals radiant damage, so her aoe rage swings trigger it per target. So if I swing once with that arc, and hit 3 targets (the max) they each bleed, and each get 3 radiating orbs, and each orb and the bleed cause the boots to trigger 2 stacks of reverberation. She is over level 5 so she gets a 2nd attack to swing, and since they are bleeding, now they get the maim effect. If the reverberation effects knock them prone, they need to use half their movement to get up next turn. BUT maim reduces movement to 0 so they stay down for as long as I keep maim applied. It's a nice combo build that synergizes really well once you get it going. Astarion is a monk/rogue. I forget his exact split at this point, but it's hard to mess it up. I believe I went 6 levels into monk and had only 1 in rogue at this point, so that he got more ki points and the standard multi attack. The idea is to get 3 rogue levels for thief and that extra bonus action, and 6 in open hand monk for the added d4+wis damage to all unarmed attacks. Tavern brawler and a strength focus can be used for a lot more damage at the cost of dex and AC, but late game you can compensate by using giant strength potions and keeping dex high, OR using dex gloves to set it to 18, though with late game item options, I'd favor the potions so you can use some better gloves available. Early game you can use finesse one handed weapons to get sneak attack damage and use the unarmed attacks with just bonus actions, since the ki infused ones let you hit twice with the bonus action. Here he's using Phalar Aluve (spelling?) from the underdark for sneak attack damage and a d8 damage die, as well as the item's aoe debuff giving us 1d4 extra damage per hit. Shadowheart is a cleric/bard but mostly bard. 1 level here of life cleric solely so she can get a little boost to her healing and so she can use heavy armor. Lore bard lets her use a reaction to lower enemies' rolls, and her spells are mostly utility, like crowd control with fear, hold person or glyph of warding (sleep), or haste or longstrider to buff allies. She has gear that applies bless and blade ward when she heals, so her lore bard level 6 spells included mass healing word so she could apply those buffs. She later on gets all the +save DC gear you can find so she has basically a guarantee that her spells will not be resisted. She also gets the illithid ability here in the creche that makes tadpole powers only cost a bonus action. When I finally finish the honor mode run, I'm likely going to make a longer video going over their builds at various stages of the game.
This guy just ended my run yesterday. Killed all his companions in 1-2 turns, but he managed to summon 6 swords and they killed my party in basically 1 turn before I was able to even go invis and escape. I think a major thing why you beat him easily was that he didnt cast mind link to the entire room at turn 1 (maybe because you attacked him before combat?). The mind link made his AC 23 and I basically had no choice but to focus his companions first. By the time I got to kicking him it was already too late.
@@patrickmacvane5725 True, but I messed up: My potions of speed ended and 2-3 characters went lethargic on the same turn. My party went from 0 dead to all 4 dead before I had a turn.
