Not sure if it's just me, but I'm really tired of mannequins in horror games. They're so incredibly overused and feel like lazy placeholders in most cases.
More like a thumb drive , a cloud copy? A VHS seriously ? What, is the other curse, on an 8bit Nintendo cartridge? Sorry evil spirits I need to flesh out my retro media player collection before you can curse me .I'm 40% convinced this game was a clever ruse to get lets players to do his math homework for him .
@@Xanderfied I don't normally do this but this typo is too fascinating not to lol The phrase is "a clever ruse," where ruse means a conniving plan to trick someone. Sorry if I seem like a dick! Clever rouge just sounds so neat lol
This started out as fairly immersive with good, subtle sound design, but it devolved into a "haunted house ride," as CJU said. It would've been much better had some restraint been exercised. And, ffs devs, nix the dang mannequins. Until I see a horror game set in a tailor's shop or design studio, I don't want to see another mf-ing mannequin! 😬🤣
Surprisingly good sound design huh? I wonder if this dev may be more skilled for audio work in general. I can't fault anyone for making "haunted house #3725," I probably would too, but yeah. I don't actually have a point. Long time no talk. Published any books yet? :p
Okay, I know that was a joke... but really, a horror game set in a tailoring shop has real potential. Hanging fabrics covering things, dreaded mannequins, needles everywhere, there is some room for actual horror to take place there. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a suitable story, but there is room for it!
@@khajiithaswares7336 Yeah, I don't mind a scare-driven, no-story game, I just think this one would have benefited from a little "less is more."😆 How have you been?😊
@@Captain_Ford I agree 100%! Lots of potential for a game in a tailor's shop or a fashion/design school.👍 Chris played a unique, well-crafted early-access game called "Ginkgo" about 4 years ago. In it, a daughter of a deceased seamstress/artist uses a magic needle to stitch her mother's world/story together. The enemy was a mannequin/puppet made by the protagonist's mother. Pretty cool. The game was made by students from the USC Games Program and, sadly, I don't think an expanded game was ever released.
@@Captain_Ford Remember the Rana Plaza desaster. Something like that could cause a tailoring factory being terribly haunted. The protagonist could be a seamstress or a cleaner or security staff at the rebuilt factory and has to reveal the background. @@CatMancer-w4z yes but I’m talking about the intentional exits from the game stemming from his general curiosity that he is known for, not him accidentally leaving while trying to start playing. Im a very paranoid person so I would not touch that tape. I don't know why horror game characters have to mess with sketchy things? A little bit of paranoia is good for you 😂
i expect more out f horror games than jump scares, things not making sense and there being no friendly NPCS. we need some quality control. and i am seriously tired of mannequins. they feel more overdone than zombies...
“What doing math problems does to a motherfucker” 😂😂😂 Chris, never change. Pretty sure those screams were from people like me who HATE math. I think his apartment was so fucked up because the math demon came for him. Mannequins have always scared me but I think it’s getting a bit overused, same with dolls. (Which I also DESPISE, along with clowns) I did like that they were becoming human though. I love your intros, as always. You are hilarious. Something about dry British wit is always a classic! 😂
Mannequin alert ! An okay-ish game, but as Chris pointed out several times in the video, there was no need for such constant (over)stimulation. Let the game breathe a little, dev : so many jumpscares means they start losing their impact after while.
It is what it is I suppose. What makes the game more entertaining is watching you CJU playing it and knowing I'm sharing the experience with your great fans. Keep on playing mate 👍
The game having so much gore and body parts, takes away from any fear and just gives a feeling of disgust. Like Chris said "overstimulation". The "less is more" attitude is the best for horror. I think horror games should focus more on sound to build a sense fo dread. Honestly a horror game where you never actually see a monster is best.
I'm pretty sure I know how watching a cursed tape ends, and I don't want that to happen to me in seven days. Thanks for the great commentary and gameplay, as always.

I am so done with manikins in horror games. They may as well be The Weeping Angels or SCP 173 at this point & it would still be a bit of a let-down IMO. Although them becoming flesh & bone was interesting. Still, as CJU said, there was a cacophony of "scares" & sounds that did this a diservise. And you don't get to watch the tape + get the curse! Ah well.
This is what I imagine New York City looks like underground. 😐😯 Keep thinking it's like a House of Horrors walkthru during Halloween. Damn great audio and very nice constructive criticism at the end. 😀
Why do so many horror games use "Greensleeves" in some way....? It's not even a creepy song in any way, so I can only assume it's primarily because it's an older, traditional folks song, so can't be hit by copyright bullshit...
Damn, it would be a pretty cool game if it had any semblance of a plot, or any logical progression at all. It was interesting to watch for the first, like, 8 minutes, but you quickly get used to all the jumpscares. The sounds here are awesome though! Gave me proper shivers a couple of times early in the game. But then again, feels a bit like a waste as they really overdo it with the noises. Nice experience overall though, thank you for the playthrough!
Someone should just make a horror game where the protagonist is kidnapped by a serial killer and is being forced to solve math problems or else be killed
When I played this, the sounds were scaring the crap out of me. Some good jump scares, but the math brought the whole thing down for me. Luckily the dolls helped pull out a decent end. Great gameplay!
Goofy is the best description for this game hahaha 😂 And someone from the game developing team is a fan of Blackpink 😂😂 Mannequins are really popular in horror games these days! Though I really miss those body horror/mutation type ones, wondering if you would try the demo to Zoochosis?

I grew up with VHS, so I'd never forget them haha
I still have some classics on VHS. Can’t toss them due to sheer nostalgia

The thing with these mannequins is, the more often you see them the goofier they get. Almost cartoonish.

18:31 Was that Black Pink ( whistle)😂😂😂😂😂
Welcome to "Boo: Haunted House v.73" not the worst of its kind, i can say that at least
The real horror was the math we did along the way
The mannequins were pretty funny ngl, but there was definitely too much background screaming for my taste
I like, that you are not as loud as most gaming streamers. When you react, it feels real.
When you math teacher says it can save your life this is what they talk about
