i agree, but a big part of solving the mystery is the loacal bar so they probably wanted it to look cool.
Kitchen counters is where I suck it up and download cc kitchen counters so I have way more options.

If we ever get bunkbeds, I think we would get ladders at the same time? Because they would probably still have to create the movements, etc for the ladder. At least if kids are gonna use it, it would be the most realistic, and everybody wants ladders anyway.
Just Max we should’ve gotten them with Kids Room Stuff or Parenthood at least. i hope we get them along with Murphy beds in University.
homosapien named sebastian yeah but it’ll probably be more difficult or complicated to make a sim climb a ladder from one floor to another.

the blue door knob is actually a 'crystal' door knob (solid glass). there was a stylistic point in time where those were the 'IN' thing. i know this because one of the first houses i grew up in had those. they were neat, but a real pain in the winter because of how cold they got.
My grandmother had them in her house on the double doors for the livingroom and on the door to the sunroom
I had them on french doors in a house I rented that was over 100 years old and those knobs were freezing!
I bought a house from the 50's and they had all of the original crystal knobs on the doors. LOVE them
the new tile is just a dirty re-colour of an already existing tile. similar to the dirty walls and carpets from city living were just re colored base game things
Was about to point that out myself! We could have had more dirty recolours of the various existing variants though. Would've been nice.
I think recolors should come with the updates, not with the packs

I'm bummed we didn't get any new trees, plants, cacti etc....other than that and the flooring colors I'm pretty happy with this pack

100% agree with the separate objects thing. Maybe they’re worried about having a bunch of individual items bogging down the game? I don’t know, but it just seems so odd. Also, where are all the planets in this pack?

We have that dirty floor in the base game, clean WITH recolours
Most packs have at least 3 or 4 items that are reskinned / slightly modified versions of items we already have. My First Pet was the worst, with half the items being reskinned versions from other packs, but all of them have that problem.
It rubs me the wrong way knowing that I’m paying literal money for that, sad

+BriBri , +Tori well my point is, in order to get some good stuff like laptops, the town itself, military career, those odd things that you can buy from the tinfoil boy, some of the build and buy items that I refer as good looking and somewhat useful requires me to also pay for LITERALLY reskinned objects, it’s like a percentage of my money is taken for nothing ya know?
It shouldn’t be that hard for them to make new meshes, after all it is their job. And I, as a customer have a right to voice my discomfort.
I feel like this build/buy overview is an example of the handholding the sims team has been doing with build mode. They make these great storylines and paths to go down in the game, and include items in build mode that fit those stories, which is fine. But it feels sort of like they just put items in build mode that could very well have been in the debug menu. Like if you're going to create that beautiful new bar and the backing that goes with it, why not make those items available separately as well? And the laboratory decorations are nice, but how often are you building a laboratory? It's almost like they're telling stories FOR us in this sandbox game, where we're supposed to tell our own stories.

@@pebblespenguin no I actually really love the scientist career from get to work. but from what I've seen, the majority of players are family players who build normal houses. it's not as though this content can't be in the game period, but we haven't gotten a new kitchen since the last game pack a year ago, and as someone who builds often, its frustrating to see them add laboratory decorations that are similar to the ones I already have in get to work, but not add new kitchens or beds when I use those items far more often.
You should make a bunker room build!!!!
I do love the idea, some of the furnishings, and the CAS is pretty cool, but I wish the pack was more similar to Jungle Adventure, where there's a load of items that I find myself using in all sorts of builds..
In terms of items, 50% are stylised to the point you can't use them anywhere and are purely decorative (i.e. your sim can only 'view' them). I loved the doors (despite the best ones being mid wall height only) and the bookcase, but that's.. it? Nothing else is versatile enough to use in every-day building and so there's no way near enough content I'd use for me to get it, so I'll keep an eye out for a sale.
I agree with you 100%! I myself am mostly a builder, I don't really do gameplay all that much. Most of the items are obviously put in the game to "set the scene" and make this world come alive - which is absolutely legitimate, of course. But since this is a story-based game pack, even if you really enjoy gameplay, you will probably play though it once or twice and that's gonna be it. It's not like you're going to build or play in super grungy bunkers or run down labs all the time. So most of the new stuff will have little to no use once you've seen everything there is to see in Strangerville - which is a shame considering the incredible amount of effort they put into all those little details! So, on the one hand I'm loving all of the new stuff for what it is, but on the other hand I had hoped for more items that are actually gonna be usable in regular builds... Well, I guess you can't have everything.
I'm definetly going to wait for the pack to be on sale before I purchase it. In the meantime I'll try to stay spoiler-free when it comes to the story in order to experience it myself. Otherwise I'm afraid it'll feel like a waste of money for me.

Also with jungle adventures at least you can get a lot of money for your sims. I mean there might be money once you solve the mystery of Strangerville but I KNOW I can send a sim to the jungle and come out with like $30,000 (if they’re skilled)
@@quizboy99 True :D Another reason why I'll be trying to avoid spoilers. It's already going to be a mediocre experience I assume (at least for me as someone who's not into gameplay), so I don't want anything taking away from that even more.

This all looks fantastic! Based on your other interviews with Sim Gurus, I think the reason they do clustered items (like the 3 barrels and 3 potted plants) is because they aren't allowed to build with MoveObjects on, so they would just have really clunky looking groups without the cheat.
i don't know.. they are giving us a world that screams aliens in every way, but if you want aliens you have to get another expansion..
Yeah, I totally thought they should have added aliens with this pack instead of Get to Work.
It could also be more aliens or spooky stuff like demons

i'm super excited for this pack, but I was really hoping to get more counters and normal house items. hopefully we'll get more with the next pack!
Bunkers! Secret Lab! Mad Scientist?
It's nice to hear about content, know its coming soon and not weeks/a month later *and* get to see what's being offered asap. I prefer to be surprised, not have things dragged out.

I really like this pack, however I feel it could have been an expansion pack. This isn't strangetown, but it feels and aesthetically looks like a modern version of it. Only with recent popular culture references (stranger things). Strangerville could have reintroduced some of the beloved classic but reinvented habitats of strangetown. Not to mention have a bit of mysteries surrounding a certain Sim to solve or have Sims feel wary about some particular Sims. And remember that dry erase board loaded with ideas by the gurus during the laundry day pack? Would have loved to see living off the grid here. As well as an aspiration for aliens. And regardless of us not having cars, it would be nice if we could create a shady gas station or cemetery. All in all, this pack does seem fun. So I'll buy it.

It bothers me that they added laptops in such a specific purpose pack. The community has wanted laptops since day one and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe laptops were in The Sims 3 base game. They're just such a basic part of everyday life that I really think they should have come either in a free update or in a pack with wider versatility. This pack doesnt suit my usual playstyle at all and even though I really want laptops, I'm not going to pay $20 just to be able to use them.

FINALLY A NICE TALL BOOKCASE!!!!!! I’ve always hated stacking the ones from kids room stuff or parenthood to fit taller wall heights 😩😩😩 I hope there’s more coming because I almost never use the standard wall heights in my builds, it just feels too short to me

Also I'm SO TIRED of traditional items in packs! The last time we got a pack with a ton of modern stuff (not just a few things scattered around) was city living. The midcentury stuff is nice but I want something truly modern. There's only TWO modern interior doors in the entire game, and one of them is see through.

I like boho style and outside of movie stuff pack the items are scattered in various packs as well. There are a million styles in the world and modern as the main pack style has already been done.
I see a lot of alien things. It'd be nice if they had updated the aliens so they're as thought-out as the vampires.

Hobos, hillbillies, and a post-apocalyptic theme, and I'd be on board with that, especially as another fan of the filthy/grungy aesthetic:
Toss in a selection of hobo, cannibal hillbilly, zombie-apocalypse, and Mad-Max style clothing and haircuts, a lot of make-shift furniture, the wall and floor textures and architectural features for building factories and prisons and warehouses and run-down shops and abandoned shopping malls and whatever (it surely wouldn't take much for that sort of run-down industrial/institutional thing), and you're pretty much set, except for the how-cool-would-that-be customizable cars (because Sims 4 seems to have a "thing" against cars....)
Add in just a bit of "My War" style make-shift survivalism in the interactive objects: grow your own garden of food and medicine in things like that bathtub full of plants from the video, for example.
Toss in a bit of the Slab City aesthetic of extreme decay decorated by mad artists.
"Scavenger" as a profession: rather than bringing home an income, the Sim brings home things like random food and furniture.
Make it just a bit tougher to sell stuff off or dispose of it, so that Sims are more likely to leave what they don't need sitting around in the yard, or hoarded up in attics and basements.
Maybe adjustments for Sim personalities that don't really care for getting all the finer things in Sim life, and are just fine with being covered with dirt, living with rats and bugs, and eating out of garbage cans (most of the world's population since the dawn of pre-history has been like that). Also, Sims that can bicker and fight and hold grudges, but still live together without every interaction descending into hysterical fist-fighting on-sight when they're together, and a lot of hysterical raging and crying when they aren't. (It would be too much to hope for for a very much more interesting version of Sim psychology, but real people seem to find ways to live with each other in spite of their differences, and they seem to find ways to live with hardship, compared to the rather shallow Sims....)
Optional gameplay extensions for conflicts between your "family" of apocalypse survivors and roving bands of apocalypse gangs (and how difficult would it be to ramp that up from existing gameplay mechanics, such as the one for clubs/groups?)
I mean, that stuff is where my Simming interests are at... That dysfunctional group of angry people stuck together in the boarded-up farmhouse in "Night of the Living Dead" was the sort of Sims family I've always wanted to follow around, or the weird family of mutants from "The Hills Have Eyes". The Sims 4 was depressingly sterile, urban, and restrained for my tastes.

He really has that same vibe as the desert map on Sims2. I love that they added this. This is what was missing from the Get to Work pack.
Someone has so got to make the classic looking military barracks, like the metal tube shaped buildings, think that'll look quite cool in the world.

i actually think that the fancier houses are so beautiful, and i love the victorian vibe. The new windows, doors, fences and even that bookshelf really gets me hyped to build. And this is coming from someone who only likes modern builds.

JAMESSS I really like the fact that you lay everything out so nicely before the video starts and you do it in live mode so that you can kind of show off the objects better I think it’s really cool and it turns out more organized

Yes!
Most people are going to buy this pack for the laptop (because gameplay-wise it sucks), so they won't give it for free. Same things they did with hot tubs.
@@NawiTheCore I know. They know that the laptop would be the big ticket item, it's so skeevy. They don't want people to complain about the content they put out but they sure do love to give it ammunition.
I ended up downloading a custom content laptop because I got so tired of waiting. And I refuse to buy a pack just to get something that should have been included in the base game.

PICKET FENCE FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!! How was that missed in the base game and every pack since....
mm was pretty hyped but I actually only like the military career and the items that come with it (bed, medal showcase, new fitness) and the rug ( I LOVE THE RUG), lava lamp, and the alien head. Sounds like Jungle adventures will still be one of the best packs for me, so many good items that pack had. Will still get it, most likely, because of the items i do like but i kinda expected more somehow.

While this pack does look interesting and cool, I don't think I'd buy it. There's just not really anything in it that made me go ooooh I want it!! Idk I guess it's a personal taste.

yes i totally get that. i haven’t gotten the vampire pack and i’m probably not getting this one. just not my taste. i wish they added the pack from sims 3 where you run your island resort lol. that was so much fun to me

the staircases with the platform attached to it makes me wish for loft building again. cause in normal building i would not use these just to put them in the middle of a room or against a wall. i would looooveee it, if we could have different ground levels without adding a secound floor.... (i hope some of you understand me at least a little bit what i'm trying to say, english is not my mother tongue ^^")

That's the idea. Same thing they did with game consoles (City Living) and many other objects, they are exclusive to one particular pack. In previous games they were included with the base game, but if you want them now you have to pay extra for it.
