Not only does this allow the cotton to shed moisture, but sunlight actually kills the bugs that grow in bedding. What, no springs in a futon bed? Two layers of a cloud sounds comfy, if not springy. I would love to try futon bed for the first night. I bet futon beds are quiet and don't creak like our heavy beds here in Ireland.

Yes, nerdly girl, having a futon is great for that. It opens up your whole room for multiple use instead of having it filled with a bed. Traditional Japanese futon fold up nicely and can fit in the bottom of a closet or linen shelf.

Most of our customers in the west don't have tatami mats.
