For champs with Invisibility it depends actually. If Briar lands her ult they will have True Vision at all times unless Briar uses E. So stealth is useless. At the same time, if Briar is just using W with no ult, yea then it counters her.

My favorite build i've seen so far, and the one I played on PVE is full AD CRIT Briar: Navori (which makes it so u are almost always on berserk and gives u more chances to E as well or keep Q'ing to keep the % armor pen on the target), collector, LDR, BT & shieldbow/Maw/DD.
With this build u DON'T want attack speed, because she has the 2nd best atk speed steroid in the game after Tristana, so all u really need is Lethal tempo and items with AD + CRIT. Keep in mind the bleed is what heals briar (25% of its dmg), and it scales with AD. So you can get RIDICULOUS burst heals once u kill a target, cus u heal for all the remaining dmg that the bleed would have dealt. I'm not exagerating when I say that your bleed can stack up to 700+ dmg so u heal for about 200HP per sec and u can go (literally) from 10% HP to 100% as u kill a target. Is MENTAL.
her W can crit which is insane with crit builds

This only works in low elo, because you lack sustain.
Her build is always gonna be Stride/gore into BC. A lot of HP, CD reduction, same AD stats and damage is still insane with a better build path.
Navori is insane good on her but you can never build it, 1 hard cc and you are dead. It's a win or lose situation every time you go in, and most of the time you gonna die b4 you can reach some one.
Immagine playin vs a poppy or some cc tank with 2k less hp... it is hell.

Ive been playing hob with collector navori BT into Deaths dance sterak BC and its pretty good. You do insane damage if W bite crits and you have perma W in tf. And collector kills off with bleed most escaping enemies.
since W doesn't crit anymore , the best build for briar mid rn is HOB Eclipse > Bork > Cleaver > Sterak's or Shojin if super fed > GA
Apparently quickblades is super busted on her, just constantly getting your abilities up again and the crit.
Yea but it's rough with champs that can hard peel. But if she goes uncheck then she will end up picking off everyone.
did an aram game vs a navori quickblade lethal tempo, stomped the early game cuz we ignored her and she ended up 22-24 ☠️
Quick blade with lethal + ghost is super good if you can get on top of them but if they play peel it’s useless (but that’s kinda the general rule with this champ anyways I suppose)

It’s a good champ actually mastery 7 on my account (Briar Bloodfalen) and I can tell u have to see the champ as a Warwick. A tank with huge mobility ( 2 gap closer Q,W + flash + R…) myself I don’t use flash anymore cause my W is all I need. Ignite or slow are very strong on her. This champion don’t like so much diving , she prefer deal in river or jngl 1v1. And use your w for jump evry walls and take vision on a enemie who go in bush for exemple you will see him. Sorry for my bad English I French ^^ big love FRIENDS

unsurprisingly, anything that makes it hard for her to move makes her nearly useless. i played her the other day into veigar and even though i had picked up a couple kills early when the midgame rolled around it was so hard to do anything beyond pick kills in sidelanes lol
@@lappyappreciator2340 With veigar you should be able to anticipate the cage, and this is also the reason why flash is much more valuable than ghost on her.
I dont know if its the way dummies or the way briar berserk mode were coded, but if you use briar W in fog of war it can scout enemies in bushes with no ward
It's intended because otherwise entering into bushes would be op against her
Yup. Imagine entering a bush or stealth and making Briar stand idle in the middle of nowhere.
It makes sense as a mechanic since she is blind and she sniffs people to chase them lol

No that's literally her skill you can't hide in a bush but Akali smoke doesn't trigger so anything that can be seen is gonna be triggering w
Being frenzied on Thornmail Rammus without your E is basically 0 counterplay suicide
To be honest its not a big counter even its the other way around because if she plays bruiser build and gets black cleaver she can remove 56% of his armor( the other 26% from her Q) meaning she can basically make the rammus be with the armor he would have without his W activated so its not that useful
One note on clear is that with her bleed passive you can leave camps quite early. Camps will die if you get them down to about 120 health from bleed+jungle pet level 1. So the laat two or so autos on red in the shown clear were unneccesary, but maybe just done because W was on CD.
This increases over the game from levels/AD, but you should just be killing camps in one W anyway.
Bleed getting nerfed is so annoying it was only useful during jungle anyways

The rune that has worked the best for me and I have not seen many people using is PTA, with ruin king, stridebreaker, and the situational bruiser items. You literally delete an adc by activating PTA, ruin king and the second W.

axiom arc is kinda troll no? grudge just does more damage and gives slow that helps when people flash and can be applied on ult fear. champ cant go in and out i don't see why u want to ult again in fights with that really long animation.
Yeah, my default has been duskblade eon serylda, room for a situational item third. Axiom is definirely not bad fourth or fifth though, since you lose those bonus resists when you kill your target, and it gives extra chase to clean up after you blow up a fight with the first ult.
My new main it seems. She's so fun.

PTA, Gore or Stride, bruiser items (shojin, bc if they have more than 1 tank, steraks, etc..) it's pretty good

I dont like use TP, briar suffers almost nothing from pock as it might seem, in fact it punishes him relatively well. The problem is that the TP stays dead, hitting the ulti is not that difficult.
WQE (kidnap) is actually very hard to do because people run from E range very fast after stun

Some other hard counters for Briar are Illaoi, Jax, Nilah, Gwen, Leona and unless you land your ult which grants true sight champs that can go invisible like Vayne will fuck you up in a 1v1.
Can also end W from q'ing to a minion, overheal is a better rune, and the items work better as crit depending on enemy team comp
Q'ing minions doesn't end your W -- it just stops it from prioritizing champions over minions/monsters.
overheal is only good if you rush lifesteal. This build doesn't built any whatsoever.

One time playing aram I picked Poppy because I had nothing else to play, enemy team had a briar and she couldn't do anything about my W, her ult, W and Q got her stun locked everytime, I felt bad for her
Briar is just master yi without q, if you hard cc her she just dies instantly, but unlike yi she has no way to dodge the cc if timed even remotely right
no her e makes her invul to cc , although yeah if you cc her before she uses it or after and you arent dead she is fked
100% agree. She's like 80% Yi, 15% warwick and 5% nocturne. Briar's W is a mini Yi ult, it's recast and heal is a make up for the uncontrollability. And her E is the equivalent of Yi's W and warwick's E. The playstyle is kinda similar too as she's weak early, needs items and is vulnerable to CC. This is why Briar is a high-skilled champ, playing her requires a lot of map awareness to pick off solo prey and not run into enemies' trap.
But she can charge while being CC with dmg reduction(just like Irelia)

my fav build is PTA collector into navori into BT only suffers vs cc but u can play around it with not engaging 1st and playing smart with R follow up. i believe ATK speed is just a bait you do not need more than what her W gives.
AS is important in JG, in lane without AS you don't have kill potential

you 100% do need attack speed on her. but depending on where you play her you can get it in different ways. if you run lethal on her then you can skipp all AS items as the lethal will get her to near cap during her w. But if using conq you need to get as from at least 1 other item eventually or her kill potential drops of the map.
Even alacrity gives enough as without lethal tempo
nope 2 weeks later i'm still running same build alacrity gives enough i dont even take as shard but u can, think abt it her W gives 120% + aa resets on Q and w. and once u have items you only hit others 5-3 times if squishy then W-AA-Q-AA-W procs pta chomp for 1shot. If you are in lane HOB is better due to her op trade combo (WQ-AA-AA-W into E push) cus it allows fast combo in stun which leads into faster E dmg reduc / self peel so u don't get punished on cds.

Briars biggest counter is master Yi. He he either cancels your w or heals himself while you agro and doesn't take any dmg
Ive been using a Tempo, Overheal, Alac/Tenac (if vs heavy CC), Last Stand. Paired with Shield Bash or Bone plate and Revit or Unflinching.

Why Stridebreaker if Trinity Force exists? Briar uses a lot of abilities, so extra AD is great
Build ive been having extreme success with (top, and jg) Is Dusk or Youmuus, into BC, into Edge of Night or Axiom, into bruiser/tank itemization (deadmans spirit visage etc etc)
Runes = HOB, sudden impact eyeball ultimate hunter, alacrity/tenacity/bloodline and coup de grace/cut down/last stand.
I was playing a casual Aram and got Briar, ended up 32/7 with the normal bruiser build
Surprise surprise, the champ that actually takes a modicum of skill had a lower WR than the previous OP on-release braindead easy champ so everyone thought "ooga booga this champ terrible, need buff" instead of playing her for more than 2 games and making a verdict off of it.
its not really a skill thing, its a style thing. no other champ plays like her, she isnt really hard once you understand how her kit works.
but yeah the buff is stupid for this exact reason, if we are already at 50% winrate she will be op in a few days/weeks as people start mastering her. few patches of nerfs incoming lol, classic new champ moment
If you came out of this video thinking "this champ might not actually be shit" then it's a problem with you and not everyone else lol.
Every champ has had a poor first week on release. And that is because EVERYONE is playing that new character. So that skews the data. This also means she is going to get nerfed as when less people play her except the most diehard, it reveals her actual winrate.
It's not because of skill, she just have a mechanic (the berserk state) that never exist in the game before and people are still adapting to it. People are still experimenting with totally unfamiliar mechanic that is a pivotal part of her kit
there is so much damage in this game that team fights feel a bit meaningless, it doesn't feel like there is any outplay in something that can kill you in 1 sec or less really, I remember when Riot's policy was that ONE SHOTTING SOMEBODY IS WRONG, mostly because it gives you NO CHANCE to actually play the game, react , make decisions or ANYTHING, assassins where still viable and they took at least 5 seconds to kill you but now the game feels ridiculous since they made everything one shot you. A Miss Fortune can Q+Auto to insta kill you, dude, what is going on with this game,

Dunno what other dudes are doing but I got pretty high Winrates and still got at least 2 kda even if we lose. Briar is a cheese if you know when to dive in

i really hate this season's quickplay being a draft mechanic. because, no matter who your team is, they will all try to jungle and leave me with nothing to farm, then complain that their jungler is level 3 when everyone is level 11. when in reality, it's the fault of my team deciding to counter jungle their own jungler.

i find that q e usually doesnt work cuz the q stun lasts 0.85 seconds and the e charge time is 1 second, and then a .5 second cast time, so they have an entire .65 seconds to flash or dash or go untargetable etc. i play ap briar and run everfrost to compensate, in case anyone wants to mess around with ap briar. i think its super fun but its def easy to counter lmao. one more problem, u can just get oneshot while ur e is charging...

Her bleed on camps is strictly for the early game kiting. Mid-late she just murders camps on Nitro.

WQE and QEW is invalid combos. your charge up isnt enough time to knock back players because the stun on Q is literally not long enough. (THE COMBO IS TOO SLOW)

I liked Briar either solo laner/jungler using Hullbreaker + Jak Sho. Insane ultimate defenses+both items gives her a very strong initial tankiness on engage while your team follow up. Still, Jak sho is doable for the stacking. Maybe Frostfire Gauntlet would be a better option to reduce damage.

so, he went from iron 4 to challanger since briars release with briar. interesting.
I think I prefer Iceborn gauntlet, wits end, botrk over this build. I prefer to be beefy like a tank.

If you need an all in then E W Q W2 can output enough damage to kill an opponent and is much more capable of catching people off guard. Only use this if ur in a desperate situation tho

I think briar's low winrate is because people who don't properly read about her abilities use her in lane

She has the bonus ad ratios of an assassin. Think of her like shaco.

Shaco at least has 100% crit chance after coming out of invis, so lethality is good on him, but I don't think it's good on briar

you dont have to choose between them, you can start lethality for the early power and finish with a crit build for scaling. I run HoB and start collector into eclipse every game. Then its LDR/ER/BT. You have so much pen you murder anything except full armor tanks instantly. Bruisers that normally give her trouble die before the stun ends.
Heartsteel titanic hydra and then tank items. Until they nerf tank items this is fun with lethal tempo
Heartsteel is a garbage item apart from like 2 champions that scale hard with HP.

For clearing to add you should be autoing camps once (lvl 2 important) then use E for the pet damage 😊. Then of course auto again into cancel with W

Lethality build is bad. I prefer the classic build goredrinker or just ful tank with hydra+ iron heart ….. but lethality so squeeshy

My only problem with briar is you can't at all control your W, they should nerf the dmg and/or healing but allow you to change targets with rightclick

@@SaintSoba It just doesn't make sense when you're doing a camp and a champion is near even in fog of war outside of vision at all Briar will ignore the camp completely and start running towards the champ
@@satanm8c40 it's how the champ works, personally I love the gimmick. It's incredibly stupid and unintuitive in the best way for me, but it makes her feel unwieldy to play, which was obviously on purpose. They had an idea for a champ and I think they did a fantastic job at making something that felt like you were literally trying to rein it in from itself. Is it viable? Maybe. Would she be easier to control if you could control her? Obviously. But if you want that just play Warwick. I for one have found a new jungle main and I will love every second she runs under the tower and I can't do anything

Who care about Korea lol. The meta differs in every region. Some items are not viable depending on what you face. The playstile is different also. Lethality is legit troll in my region on briar
