I grew up in Havana. It is named for Havana, Cuba because of the tobacco industry that was there until just after I was born (1970s). When the tobacco industry left, Havana became almost a ghost town until the antique shops became popular in the 1980's. And, no, Dogwood Manor isn't the hood. My aunt lived there until the 1990's. I used to walk there from my house. It was quite nice.
Welcome to my neck of the woods!!!!😊😊😊😊....The hood side of Havana is located on when you make a right turn that says "Welcome to Havana" with the fountain of water flowing!!!
@@cilowitz81 i can see it on google maps! Nice! Next time in town will do! It was still nice to see most of the towns main areas. We almost bought a house there by the GA border. I see the guy who bought it really fixed it up.
Named Havana because it was where they grew tobacco in Florida back in the day and they named it after the Cuban capital. Funny thing is Cubans helped in the tobacco growing there many years ago
Many place names in the US are called after place names in other countries. There is the city of Angola in Indiana and there are no Angolans there. The list of such place names is huge.
Very cute town coming from a small town in Michigan I could settle there. Dogwood Manor 1 bdrm units only for elderly. You said probably the hood of Havana. Oh Lord. 🤣
Thanks for bringing out the passive aggressive racial aspect of living in the Deep South. I’m from San Diego and wouldn’t had known that. Knowledge is power.
That is BS, he is probably a democrat who thinks the white man is to blame for everything and other races should not have responsibility for their own actions.
@@shawnrobinson2213 I’m from Tampa Florida and I didn’t even know there was a city named Havana in Florida, I only knew it was in Cuba specifically. Guess I learned something new today 😆
Billionaire Cuban has a farm with world famous Freisian horses, worth a kings ransom! Within a few years the real estate and land have gone up due to the $$$ these rich quietly buying it up as well as the Georgia Florida Parkway. FYI. I looked up the records & discovered a lot of high level gov people buying. They know that if that billionaire is there (he has a family real estate investment group ) there's something to this place. I have my eye on these transacion$$$.
