Thank you so much for this video! My turn signal bulb has been burned out for weeks. I bought a replacement bulb at AutoZone, but the technician said that he couldn't put it in for me. Then, a male friend offered to do it, but said that he would probably have to take off the headlight assembly and that it would take over an hour to do it. Well, I finally got tired of waiting on him to "find the time to do it," and found your video. I just replaced the bulb myself. It took less than 10 minutes.
You're most welcome and thank you so much for commenting and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. I sold this car and I wish I had not. It was a joy to drive and own. All the best.👍😀
Excellent advice, I had replaced both headlight assembly on my 2011 Hyundai Sonata and after two hours of labor, I realized that I had forgotten to install the indicator bulbs which I had left installed on the old assembly. This was going to be a nightmare dismantling the whole mask till I came across your video and boy I thank God I did, thank you.
You are most welcome. I am glad to know I could help you. Thank you for watching, commenting and the kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Thanks for this video, I too struggled to get my hand in the small opening to change the bulb so I took it to my shade tree mechanic and he said he'd have to remove the front bumper to change the bulb. Gonna try this before I pay him for all that labor.
You are welcome. I have seen cars that you have to take the whole wheel well plastic off or worse to change the light (see the GM HHR) so I am glad they actually built an access panel for it. Thanks.
had to change my turn signal bulb and had no idea how I was going to get to that bulb. your video was very informative and helpful. I was done in 10 minutes. thanks a million
Thank you for this demo, not sure if I want to try it, as the my turn signal bulb is on driver side, I live on a busy street, so I will have to go into a parking lot for safety purposes. One guy said he had to take my wheel off, but I see you really don't have to. I appreciate the time you took to show this. You make it look very easy even for a girl!
Rich, you sexy SOB! Thank you for posting this. You just made that easy. Should we give praise to Hyundai too? They actually made it easy. You just told us where to find access. Your video was tantamount though. Hyundai didn't post a video about how easy it is to change a bulb in a cage. But you did. Thanks. This is my third Sonata. I love these cars. I'm sure you do too. Have you had a pet vomit in the back seat yet? I have. The back seat comes right out. Easy! Prop it against the garage and kick on the pressure washer. The fabric in my first two was stain resistant. (Had a kid throw up in my first one.) Just like any car these days, everything is packed in tight. Seems Hyundai takes it to heart and engineers there autos to be easy to repair. Don't you agree? Again, thank you very much.
Love, love, love the Sonata especially the 2.0T turbo. Great car and I would buy it again. 33 miles to the gallon at 75+ miles an hour, oh Yea! Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Hey Richard, Glad you have the same car as me and make these videos because good method vids are hard to find. Can you please make one for replacing the fog lights on your car?
I think it will require the removal of one of the bottom panels under the bumper. I will investigate it and see if I can do it. Thanks for the suggestion I will update you if I go for it.
Thank you! Because I'm a bigger guy that needs more room to work, I found it easier to remove the wheel instead of working around it when it was turned.
Thank you! I had no idea how my hand was supposed to get to it from the top!!! As a "mechanically challenged" individual, this was very helpful. Well done!
Wow! Imagine how many people bought the bulb after being told that? My bet is every person who believed that went straight to the dealer for $100 bulb change. Thanks.
I'll be honest, getting to it, and removing was "awkward," but doable. I was not able to get it back in. Took it to my Hyundai dealer who re-installed it, no charge.
Thank you very much for making this video! Wow would have never thought to turn the wheel to the right to get access to from underneath the vehicle. I was going to start taking the bumper off. Very tricky to get to, but thanks to you I was able to successfully replace the bulb. Saved me a ton of time. Great video Richard!
Awesome!!! I had tried removing my lights earlier and thought there had to be a simpler way.... So my problem was a little peculiar I had to prop out the nodes on the light sitting as it had partial contact... now it works perfectly... I own a 2012 2.0T Limited. AWESOME RIDE
this video was most helpful it told how to replace bulb and gave information on size bulbs. thanks this was great keep up the good work that you are doing.
Yes that is correct on the fog lights...thanks for making dis video I'm about to replace my driver side turn signal I just was wondering on how i was going to change it you made it look so ez to do...

matthemong1 I understand why you might do that. Most people would be intimidated by pulling the whole lens out. Most people are intimidated by just doing their own service on the vehicle they own. I find by showing people that it can be done and that it is not impossible that get's them past the intimidation (fear) factor. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You are most welcome. I've seen videos where they tell you to do that. I didn't think ANY engineer would ever make it that hard. I'm glad to know I could help you. Thank you so much for watching, commenting and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
could you please make a video for replacing front turn signal (white/amber switchback led with resistors)? Seems Sonata don't have any wiring options for resistors for front turn signal lights. Suggestions please
I no longer own the car so I can not do a video for you on that but I too do not see an LED resistor solution that would not require you to do some soldering. All the best.
Hi Richard, thanks for the video. One question. I did exactly what you said not to do and unfortunately I drop the lightbulb into the wheel well area. Is it worth trying to retrieve that lightbulb or should I just let it stay there. I plan to order another housing mechanism. TOM
You could remove wheel well shroud near the front of the car and fish it out. Check it out it's not too difficult. You are most welcome. Thank you for watching, commenting and the kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Thanks for the video. I was able to exchange the driver side bulb, but I ran into a problem. The bulb has two filaments. One is brighter than the other. When my parking lights are on, the dimmer filament is supposed be the one burning, and when I turn on the left blinker, the brighter filament is supposed to be burning. But they are switched! Does it matter what way you put the bulb in? I noticed that the slots in the rubber casing allow the bulb to fit in either way? Did I do something wrong? And now, it’s in there so tight, I can’t take the rubber casing out! I’m a mess
This simple replacement cost me $475.00. I tried it but a new bulb didn't work either. I took it to the dealer who told me that they have seen this problem many times. The entire headlight assembly must be replaced because the connector inside the assembly doesn't make contact with the bulb.
Wow, that's crazy! Sorry to hear of your troubles with this. I wonder why they can't just fix the connector. Very strange. Thank you so much for commenting and watching. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
Yes these are dual element bulbs. They are a marker light and a turn signal. Both functions are independent and handled by a different coil in the bulb. One could burn out and the other could continue functioning. Thanks.
Richard- thanks VERY much ! But I have a question ? I have completely finished the re-install, BUT...when I reinstalled the bulb, it was a very small turn to 'lock' it in. I am SUPER worried that its not locked in all the way. The turn signal works though. Is it relatively safe to 'assume' if the bulb is now working that I have it locked in correctly? Anyway to know for sure? THANKS !
Hello, First, I'd like to thank you for the tutorial. I however, ran into a problem. The bulb wasn't fastened in the connector correctly, and dropped inside of the headlight. Is there a way to get it out, or do I have to take it to the shop? Can I drive around with it in there?

what size is the screw on the turning signal access panel ?
