Bass player here. I love your backing tracks, and beggars can't be choosers, but here is some feedback anyway. Your chart shows a sequence of chords, but there is no indication of how long each chord lasts, and the track repeats phrases of chords but again, no indication of where those repeats are. The live chord marker changes on the "1" of the measure, but too bad, it is too late for me to plan a transition to the new chord. I watch the live chord symbol to try and figure out where in the sequence you are, but the changes are always throwing me off. Maybe I'm just dumb and I don't get it. Here is what is going on in my head. At 0:46 the chord chart appears and the first live chord shows Fmaj7. There are three of them in the chord sequence, OK, lets see what comes next to find where we are. OK, C is next (0:48), so I'm either on the 2nd or 5th chord in the sequence. G comes next (still might be 3rd or 6th chord in the sequence) and, oh, G lasts 8 beats, gotta remember that next time around. OK Fmaj7 shows up next: so did we just repeat back to the 1st chord in the chart, or is it now the 4th chord? The following C and G chords still don't answer the question. OK, Am, we must be in the 7th chord in the chart. OK, I bet C is coming next and ... wait, what Fmaj7? I guess there was a repeat there, but now I don't know if I'm on the 1st chord or 4th one in the chart, etc. This song is a mellow song with a slow pace, but on many of your tracks the changes come fast and furious and I can't do all the mental arithmetic and give up in frustration. Please don't take this as whining -- I really do love your tracks, but I find the chord chart confusing. Could the chord sequences be broken up into phrases that somehow indicate groups that repeat, and put measure markers or something? Eg | FMaj7 | C | G | G | x2 | FMaj7 | C | G | Am | x1 To indicate that Fmaj7 and C are four beats, and G is 8 beats? Then x2 to say repeat twice. The next line is the next phrase, etc? (the marking above doesn't match what you are doing, this is just an example)
It would be better if you didn't play in the beginning of the videos. Not trying to say you're bad. You're not. But when I play to these tracks I generally don't listen to that part and have to stop what I'm doing to fast forward the track. I loop these just to get some practice in so it's just a matter of distraction. Maybe including a link to a second video where you play over the track would be more appropriate. But otherwise I totally enjoy these tracks. Good job.
