Converting a 1990's Bajaj Chetak to 1960's Vespa Sprint - Big Frame

  • The film is about converting a 1990's Bajaj Chetak into a 1960's Vespa Sprint, (big Frame). In the film I go through all the stages. You need to change four things. The fuel filler, the seats / saddles, the horn cover and the indicators. Mine is a 125cc but the frame is identicle to a 150cc

    The Bajaj scooter models, Super, Chetak and Priya are all based on the Vespa, the Chetak on the late 60s Vespa Sprint, Super on the mid 60s Vespa 150 Super and the Priya on the late 50s Vespa Gran Sport (150 GS) and VBB models of early 60s.
    In the late 80s, Bajaj still using the original 60s Vespa body style in the Chetak and Super models. But from 1990s all the Bajaj models got a total makeover which replaced the Vespa style front end and included indicators.
    For perfect Vespa conversion, the late 80s Super and Chetak are more suitable than 90s models, as they looks a lot like Vespa originally and needs some small cosmetic works like badges, trims etc.
    Anyway, nice conversion, this is very helpful for those who have 90s Bajaj models but want to convert to 60s and 70s Vespa.

    Thanks for loading that video - I realise a few years old now.. Would it be possibly to discuss further the process of matching Bajaj body panel parts to Vespa frames? I have a project and suspect Bajaj parts are going to be my only option to get the look Im after.

    Any info on wiring up the rear indicators? My 98 model has them in the side panels. Is it simply a case of moving them so they go through the rear light hole?

      Yes I think that would be fine, I bought the rear light from ebay, (have pasted link below), and then bolted two bullet indicators either side. We had to make up a U bracket inside the rear light to hold the indicators as the metal was very thin on the rear light.

      I'm very lucky, my dad's Bajaj Super 150 (late 1980s model) originally have the Vespa style small taillight, no indicators and the front part is originally like the one you made (very identical to the 60s Vespa Super/Sprint).
      But I have a question, from where I get the original Vespa chrome front frame, floor stripes (the metal stripes on the floor, which is missing in my scooter) and original "VespaSprint" badge? I also want to modify my dad's Bajaj Super looks like Vespa Sprint.
      But look, I want brand new parts (no used parts), please reply!

      Yes still live in SL but really don't know about importing.

    Actually its not Chetak . Its a other varient of Bajaj Super . The" FE" I was searchin for this from many years .. i am also having a 93 Super FE. now want to modify it

      Its production was discontinued in 2006
