So i just wanted to say thanks for doing what you do. This cover has helped me get these pent up emotions out and realigned. Music helps and saves so many people everyday, so you, in my eyes, are a hero. Along with every other musician.

I actually bought tickets to an Epica show once just to see Myrkur open for them (I'm not big on Symphonic Metal) and it was one of the best shows I'd seen in a long time. I discovered Oceans of Slumber at that show, and actually really enjoyed Epica's performance too. What I'm saying is, if you ever play in Ireland I will be there no matter who else is on the bill!

I am in awe. My new favorite Spiritbox song is now my new favorite Morphide song. This song takes both of my favorite musical genres, shoegaze and metal, and blends them together seamlessly. (For anyone not familiar with the shoegaze genre, please do yourself a favor and check out Slowdive, my most favorite band of all time.) This song fuses heaviness and melody so perfectly, and the lyrics are so exquisite -- pure poetry. The video for the Spiritbox version relates the music to dementia, and it's very powerful. I feel like this song could be equally used to describe the dissolution of a relationship, which is also equally as powerful. The first part of this Morphide video is just one long shot, which fully engages the viewer directly into the power of it all. Then the video itself becomes chaotic, with different cuts and even some reversal video edits, before finally fading to black. It is so perfectly done! As much as I adored the Spiritbox version of the song, I like the Morphide version even more. It is even more melodic and beautiful and powerful. Quick side note, I look forward to the day that my voice to text app recognizes the name "Morphide," because each time I'm using voice to text, it gets almost everything else correct but then gets confused by "Morphide" and generally decides that I'm trying to say "more fiber." So with that in mind, let me just say that this new cover song and its video are absolutely amazing -- "MORE FIBER" FOREVER!!! #MorphideForever
The original version makes me cry every time I listen to it. This cover makes me kinda angry - it sounds so dead. It sounds false in almost every way. It is technically okay, yes, but it's not from here *hits the left half of his chest witch the hand several times*. There is no soul in it. And there are several things that I heavily dislike... Not only that the vox are doubled in a technically lousy way ... some of the phrasing is so strangely misplaced. And you gotta _feel_ this song, which I am not experiencing here. Also, some of the techniques the singer uses are too top-40-trynasoundalike. It sounds like just adapting the techniques of an average vocal coach, and this makes the vibe of the song so artificial in this version. It doesn't sound honest. This is not American Idol. Sorry to be such a dork, but this is - to me - nothing more than grabbing some attention by rushing into the airflow of the wind.
So you are new to this channel. Welcome. We are band and we write our original music, and meanwhile, when we have free time, we make covers of the songs that we enjoy. We're not seeking attention, we just do what we like and that's it. Regarding sounding like Courtney, we use our covers to practice - singing, mixing, editing videos etc. If you check our other covers or even original music, you will realize that all of them sound differently. Making covers and nailing down other singer's technique helps to broaden your own "library" of techniques, "moves" and small nuances that can be used later in your songs. So it is all for a purpose of practice and keeping vocal tonus. Finally, regarding "feeling" the song. Courtney lost her grandmother couple of months ago, and I'm not sorry about not feeling her loss, since I fortunately didn't loose anyone yet. Her pain is not my pain, and you can't force me to feel it. I have my own life and my own experience, but that should not stop me from enjoying their song or from enjoying singing them. Again, we make covers of the songs we like to practice and master our skills in the first place.
