The 2025 Mitsubishi ASX has been announced, showcasing significant updates that build on its partnership with the Renault Captur. This latest model, which is set to begin production in May and hit dealerships in June, offers a blend of refined aesthetics, advanced technology, and a range of electrified powertrains.
Designed on the CMF-B platform shared with the recently facelifted Renault Captur, the new ASX measures 4.23 meters in length, positioning it on the cusp between the small SUV and compact segments. It adopts the familiar Dynamic Shield front-end design characteristic of Mitsubishi, setting it apart visually from its French counterpart. The rest of the exterior maintains a conservative approach with changes largely limited to new designs for the 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels and distinctive LED headlamps shaped in a 'C' design at the rear.
Inside, the ASX mirrors the Captur's interior layout with a choice between a 7-inch or a larger 10-inch digital instrument cluster depending on the trim level, complemented by a vertically oriented 10.4-inch central touchscreen. This system runs on Android Automotive 12, enabling seamless integration of Google services, voice commands, and over-the-air software updates.
In terms of powertrains, the ASX is available solely with petrol engines, including options for a 1.0-litre turbocharged engine, a 1.3-litre light hybrid, and a 1.6-litre full hybrid setup, promising a balanced mix of performance and efficiency. The hybrid systems particularly highlight Mitsubishi's ongoing commitment to electrification, even as it opts to exclude the LPG option available in the Captur.
Safety features are comprehensive, with standard offerings including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and a suite of driving aids aimed at enhancing driver confidence and safety.
While pricing details have not yet been announced, expectations are set around the £22,000 to £30,000 range, paralleling the Captur. The 2024 Mitsubishi ASX thus represents a significant step forward in Mitsubishi's SUV lineup, promising versatility, advanced technology, and a more sustainable driving experience.
