Ackchyually, the corner Eau Rouge is called after the the river that flows just beneath it, Eau Rouge (Red Water). The riverbed of Eau Rouge is rich in iron oxide, which gives the water a reddish tint that gave the river its name.
You should have also asked for "the very slight curve". We had two ex- formula one drivers on TV that did not even know the bend even existed on the Spa circuit. It is the "very slight curve" after Radillon.
What we today call eau rouge is just a tiny remnant of what was a long sweeping left hander on the old circuit. It’s no wonder people call radillon eau rouge as nobody would think such a famous name in F1 would just be a minor left kink before a much more interesting piece of track.
There are three corners: a left at the foot of the hill, the long uphill right, and then the fast left kink at the top. Isn't there a third name we are missing?

No it's a translation issue French saying Le Raidillon de leau rouge means the steep path from red water meaning exactly that the first left goes overtop of Eau rouge then begins a steep path immediately after
Interestingly (or not) There's a a bit of road just coming out of Enstone (Where Renault/Benneton are/were) on the way to Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire that's like a mini Eau Rouge/Radillon section. You used to be able to drive it like that too back in the day, but now they've dropped the speed limit and added a speed camera.
Confusing thing for French speakers is that everyone calls it "Eau Rouge's Raidillon" because raidillon is a common name in French meaning "short steep road". So basically every uphill corners can be considered as a raidillon, but none is quite comparable to the Eau Rouge's one.
If I was there I would point at Blanchimont in purpose. I would wait until they did say "Too far, that's actually Blanchimont." I would say "that was in purpose,I know that's Blanchimont" and point into Raidillon.

No. The Raidillon was constructed for the 1939 season to bypass L'Ancienne Douanne hairpin, connecting the sharp lefthanders before and after the hairpin and making them the kinks we have today. The straight you're referring to is Kemmel, and was originally much less straight with gentle curves along the entire length. When the circuit was reduced to its current size, the Kemmel section was straightened into what we have today. The righthander of the famous complex is the only part that could posdibly be called Raidillon.
No, I do understand the difference between before and after, the 'straight' Im refering to, although hardly worthy of the name, is the small uphill section BEFORE the left onto Kemmel which extends onto the Kemmel straight leading to Les Combes and Malmedy. If the right hand is the only section that can be called Radillon, think you should advert this fact then to most of the tv broadcasters across the world, as 99% of them refer to the left right flick as Eau Rouge, and the uphill left as going 'through radillon' and on to Kemmel. Although Technically you may be acurate, the fact that everyone and his dog has refered to this lower half of the complex as Eau Rouge since time immemorial leads me to ask the question, why havent you produced a similar video asking folks to point out where Stavelot actually is.

Its like a documentary which can have good content, but "no one" cares because it has no good visuals and is quite boring. You want to SEE the history, you want to SEE the universe. (I know you showed even the old track, which is fantastic, but the presentation can be better, even if this sounds odd.) ... or in this case just make funny content and as you said create a slogan which is repeatet 100 times ^^

I saw my own tweet at 0:08. I already wrote about this subject almost 15 years ago. The Eau Rouge was the left-hander to the l'Ancienne Douane hairpin in the pre-1939 track. To make the circuit faster they built an artificial corner that cut off the hairpin. Because the new corner was very steep they called it Raidillon, which comes from the French word raide which means steep. The corner on top, often told to be the Raidillon, has actually no name. It was actually the first of the Kemmel section, when it was a series of corners. Kemmel was straighten in 1979. By the way: I made a video about the same issue a few years ago. Since today I get a lot of strange comments "That's Raidillon actualy". Now I know were it comes from ;)

I was in Spa for the 24hr race, and Eau Rouge is actually the little bit of water running under the corner. Bet you can't get there while the F1 race, but at the 24hr race everything was really open and it was a really nice experience to see, that the small 'river' Eau Rouge is still floating.
It really is like that! I went to both the F1 and 24h at Spa. In F1 you basically can't move around, you choose your place and stay there till the end. In the 24h you can explore all the circuit and the paddock too on sunday afternoon!
I think the 24hr race was just the best experience in my life so far :D Just so nice, especially with paddock pass you could just nearly do everything. We made some new friends with the guys at Rinaldi Racing, who actually allowed us to join their pits and sit in their car before the race! Never ever expect a F1 team to do something like this. On sunday I woke up at 4am and took a little moring run around the track... there have been nearly no people and running around the track with the cars flying by is such a nice experience you can only have at a 24hr race... ♥

I'm italian and the guys working there with the tyres were italian too so I asked something about tyre pressure and this guy couldn't believe to speak to an Italian, he clearly missed home haha! He explained everything to me for like 10 minutes and the other guys told him to move as he was late with the job😂😂
Ohhh yes, the Pirelli guys... funny mates xD Like an hour after the race ended I was walking back to the car with my friend when I saw a family carry an used tyre to their car... I asked them where they got it from, but they didn't really understand English (frenchies...). So I sprinted back around the track to the Pirelli tents because I also wanted a tyre so bad :D My feet have been dead after the weekend, but I sprinted faster than ever xD I asked three people there, one told me he doesn't know if they're allowed to give them away, another one told me they're not allowed :/ I can tell you... I will come back in 2019 and grab my tyre xD

All the 3 corners (3,4,5) are the "Raidillon complex". So it's Raidillon at the Eau Rouge. Before 1939 it would go left to l' Ancienne Douane and not straight up the hill at that river.
