I built a couple of these fantastic amps and in the final one I used the original output transistors, they were "pulls" from old 70's pcb's but were matched. The difference between them and todays alternative (Tip 3055/2955) is absolutely massive, and well worth the effort to change. The sound had much more detail, wider, much lower and clear bottom end, more dynamic and much more musical. I honestly would not have believed it if I didn't actually do it myself. With this amp I now listen to the music and really enjoy it, I do not have any thoughts about changing things to make the sound better, like cables or components, it is simply super and a very worthwhile build!
@@oguzcanbaban4653 yes, I searched for months and eventually found two used pairs in Hong Kong for sale on Ebay. Definitely a big upgrade from the outputs used today. Would highly recommend.
Please use some large caps, it sound clear, transparent but very thin (to me). 25 Volt large can caps (those are cheap) will give you some weight for that sound. It called " Le Monstre" because of the monster power supply!
I bought and built this kit in the 80s. Personally my power supply was a very large toroidal transformer with 1 Farad of caps and it kept playing for 30 seconds after switching it off... I think it was called "Le Monstre" because it was only an 8W and the Class A allowed it to move and handle difficult speakers. Obviously you'd need a serious power supply for that.
Nice to see your project. I have bought the material but I exactly do not know how to tune the bias. May be get more understanding from your site sooner.

I built the Le Monstre, the JLH1969 and the PassF5 and listened to each for a couple of weeks, today I only have one amp and it is the most incredible sound I've ever heard, the Jean Hiraga "Le Monstre" 8watts - Highly Recommended

How many AC volts does the transformer you use give? How many volts dc are you supplying the circuit?
12 - 0 - 12 / 5A / AC secondary volt output
Bridge rectifier output around same volt DC amp on time
Use separate transformer for both channels
