It is not cladding that you are removing, but rather coating. Cladding is intrinsic to the makeup of the fiber itself, whereas the coating is an added protective layer that must be removed.

You do not strip off the cladding. The cladding Is the glass. You are stripping off the acrylic 250um coating...exposing the 125um cladding.
