A DCC sound decoder turns even an idling loco into a trackside experience to remember!
In this quick video l fire up a U18B and let it idle so you can hear the racket from the loco’s compressor, air drier and spitters.
Sometimes my operating sessions consist of nothing more than listening to the array of sounds emitted by idling or recently shut down loco’s. I like this trackside yard ‘soundscape’ and at times find it as absorbing as running trains. It’s a great way to unwind for 30 minutes or so after a stressful day.
