True. Seeing these animatics almost makes me want to watch the movie…except I already heard almost every review about it. The animatics pretty much do some of the scenes justice though.
Thank you! Its hard to glean any of those mannerisms in this prequel because the 2019 movie siphoned any personality out of him LOL I appreciate the bratty and entitled personality this movie attempts to give him tho. Again, would be better in 2D
I would actually love it if they had done that! It'd be so refreshing but nostalgic. But I def don't think 2d Disney is gonna come back for the big screen any time soon..
@@annien.1727 wHAT?! FIRST OFF, WHY SO AGGRESSIVE? I LOVE 2D ANIMATION JUST AS MUCH. AND U BETTER MAKE IT HAPPEN BCUZ I WANT IT TO RETURN TOO!!! 🤨😡😌 (and no I will not be watching my words because Ik for a fact I’m not going to regret them. but if what you’re saying is true, then ok?)
I predict that we're going to eventually have a "shrek retold" situation where a ton of animators and storyboard artists are going to get together and reinterpret the film. I hope you're one of them, this is excellent. XD
@MissDucklingQueen thank you! I did want him to look a bit like Simba since Simba looking like Mufasa is a plot point but I tried to keep his Mufasa traits
I can't believe we're getting all of this lion king content for free. This is way better than Mufasa and we had to pay for that! Come on Disney. (In all seriousness, thank you. This is awesome)
Watching the original clip, personally I far prefer the composition and expressions in this animatic far more. As many others have stated, Mufasa should’ve been 2D animated. For example: Sarabi being silhouetted like this is far more interesting imo. Also the designs are more. recognizable lol. In the original clip, I don’t see Mufasa, Taka, and Sarabi. I just see lions. But here they’re obviously far more recognizable as those characters. It’s almost like more stylized art is meant to make characters instantly recognizable and expressive lol (and imo more fun to watch in this case). Also loving the Scar mannerism trying to act all cool there lol
Brilliant work! This storyboard gives them so much more personality. If Mufasa were traditionally animated in the same style as the original 1994 Lion King, so many people would be way more excited about it.
Oh hey, what do you know? Actually letting these characters have some visible personality and expression improves the voice work tremendously for me! Fantastic work on this, Cat! c:
yessssss. I saw movie two days ago and I keep searching for artists like you, who are rederawing scenes so my inner child can be happy. This should have been animated. Amazing work!
I so BADLY we lived in a world where we could’ve gotten a 2D version of the film. I thought it was good, but it would’ve been excellent if they ditch the “realism” approach. Thanks for making this!
I keep coming back to this! I love your portrayal of Mufasa and Sarabi's soft smirk when she's revealed. honestly, I would pay to have this fully animated instead of the cgi. Brilliant
Thank you for animating this. I stand by what I said before and this animation is proof “I think that a 2D animation of the movie would of been amazing”
I mean, I don’t mind either way, but I’m sure you could’ve had something a little closer to land before time which I’ve seen this movie described as have the two separated and pick up Sarabi along the way. Just picked up scars characterization after that it wouldn’t be so bad and maybe and maybe change a couple lyrics in the villain song calling it bye-bye just really takes the edge off and throws me out of the vibe. It was giving me. I am sorry for turning vibe into a buzz word.
Wow, this really shows that the voice acting is pretty solid, but the original clip really doesn't do justice to how theatrical it is. Keeping Sarabi's face hidden until the end is a great decision. Can't wait to see more!
Would love to see more of this, Detective Calico! I watched and loved Mufasa but how you redid this scene admittedly has wayyy more personality - and it isn't even fully animated. Bravo! 👏
It would be awesome if all of youtube banded together to just reanimate the whole movie in 2D the way it was meant to be! I'd take part for sure. Not possible because of evil Disney, but I can dream! Maybe if we all posted a scene but kept them all seperate on our own channels so copyright doesnt detect a full movie? Then someone can build a playlist
I'm gonna repeat what I said in someone else's video... Dear animators and artist, make reanimated collab of mufasa. This looks so great! I will personally thank every single person involved in that project
Would've preferred watching a 2 hour animatic over the CG slop, this was really well done. Mufasa is so handsomely drawn and Scar is dripping with personality.
I have never seen Lion King beyond the first film as a child, and never at all was tempted to watch anything else...but I feel myself slowly getting attached to Scar because this animation is so cute. Trying to play it all cool when he's 10 seconds away from wimping out, I love it.
I cannot understand how Disney didn't realize how much better this movie would have been in 2D. Like, just the voices alone give the fun and expressive feel of goofy 2D characters interacting with each other. They basically developed a 2D script and slapped a real life filter on it that just makes it feel like the real CGI version is the fan made fake that doesn't fit with the theme. I mean, you cannot tell me that a company as huge and experienced as Disney DIDN'T realize that 2D looks WAAY better when they were sketching even the basic storyboards.
I love how the fandom is casually re-animating bits of the film, kinda reminds me of what the Warriors fandom does with scenes in the books!
IKR!! I love it :D
True. Seeing these animatics almost makes me want to watch the movie…except I already heard almost every review about it. The animatics pretty much do some of the scenes justice though.
Wait, is this a movie or show?
@ It’s from the Mufasa movie that released recently.
Don't soil this with mention of Warriors.
Taka's little nail look to try and act cool despite the fact he still freaked out is such a nice touch, it is so evocative of his mannerisms as Scar!
Thank you! Its hard to glean any of those mannerisms in this prequel because the 2019 movie siphoned any personality out of him LOL I appreciate the bratty and entitled personality this movie attempts to give him tho. Again, would be better in 2D
@@DetectiveCalicoCan you imagine if walt disney company added that scene to the original film and the remake?🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Like if you agree with me.

I'd love to see part of the Mufasa movie as one of those reanimated projects that were popular a couple years ago
It's Mufasa.
@@WilczycaCzarownica Thanks!
Me as well
it would be cool, but there's the risk of Disney suing the animators for doing so. we can't take any chances now when it comes to Disney
