Being a maharashtrian, I make this snack every diwali.. But, traditionally it's made from maida, and if u are planning to do it it suji, please add maida too, otherwise the shankarpali will dissolve in oil, wasting all your time and efforts...
Tip: Never add wheat flour, it will absorb all the moisture leaving the dough very dry and cracky...

I have tried it with hebbars recipe and it is not wheat which causes problems but SUJI. If one just exchange the ratio of wheat to suji and vice versa, it comes out very well
Excess of Suji didn't let the dough bind and hence resulted in dissolving and disappointment.
But overall, it is a very good recipe like all others of this chann

Add more of atta and maida ... that can help. I used it to make malpuas and gulgule(meethe pude) by adding more atta and making a little thin dough

The measurements are not accurate . The sugar made the dough melt in the hot oil... Tip : decrease the sugar and Inc the wheat flour makes this dish work.
After reading many failure story I did my usual Maharashtrian style with wheat flour and little rava it came out superb 👍

This sweet and short recepie was very nice..it was breaking after putting in the oil..it turned a little dark..but ufcourse without maida was awesome taste 😋the idea of rava plus wheat was nice 👍

I tried this today in exactly the same proportion as suggested in the video. It came out very well. Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful recipe. The reason why Shankarapali dissolves in the oil could be because it is too crowded or it is thinly sliced. It happened to me once. Once I did the correction, the rest came out well.

Yes....you need to melt jaggery in hot water and knead the suji in that water...my mummy used to make by this method.
